Most Biased, Annoying Ex-Cricket Player/Experts?

Ind vs Eng 3rd Test, 2021
Siraj makes a stupid throw resulting in 4 byes. Bumrah is angry.

Manjrekar - "We better not say anything about Mohammad Siraj, else we'll be called haters."
Awkward silence from co-commentator Saba Karim.

What did he mean? Was it a reference to religion or is there some history between him and Siraj on cricketing matters.

Ah man that's bad, lost respect for Manjrekar.

Siraj said his 'shush' celebration is for haters.Manju is salty about that

Poor comment that.
Hope Siraj ignores this

Sarfraz Nawaz is the Most Biased commentator/expert .
All he has to say is that '' match was fixed '' and Imran Khan has got some role in it.
I dont know what is his problem with Imran ?

I like how he says "Jua". If he is right then cricket is like WWE, all matches, all players, umpires etc are sold out.

Siraj said his 'shush' celebration is for haters.Manju is salty about that

Ah ok. That makes better sense.

And cements Manjrekar position as the most despised former cricketer without the charming eloquence to compensate.

I think more so when Siraj got picked on when he was in Australia i believe.

Manjekar is weird at times, but definitely not the worst i've seen. I can name tonnes in Pak cricket that are fools.

Sunny, Bhogle, Harby, Rameez Raja (though not as bad as the others), Warnie...and a lot of others.

A list of those I like: Athers, Hussain when not SALIVATING OVER "AGGRESSION YAAR" Kohli, Wardy, Wasim when talking about bowling, that very tall Kiwi who I always forget.

Oh wow. Was that on the Indian broadcast? Was it English or Hindi?

Is the tall Kiwi Simon Doull? May have misspelled his surname.

That's the one!

Unlike a lot of modern commentators, he actually knows the domestic game and can recall players from U19s and provide us with an insight. A lot like Ian Bishop of the Windies. Both excellent.

Fully agreed. I also liked how he mentioned that some of the Pakistani bowlers (Rauf in particular, I think) could benefit from a sprinting/running coach, to aid their bowling action. He gives a great amount of insight that you don't usually get. A top commentator and analyst- I wholeheartedly agree with you!

Yes, he is very insightful and does not go down the useless route of "banter" or being a shill for any one player or country.

From the glory days of Richie Benaud, Geoffrey Boycott, Tony Greig, Tony Cozier, Bill Lawry, to the current sad lot of commentators. Definition of regression.

My God...what's wrong with this loser Manjrekar....

He needs to be perma sacked from everywhere.

It's a tad mystifying that Star's tv coverage in the early 2000s till the advent of the IPL in 2008 was up there with any broadcaster in the UK or Australia, and it was Indian commentators such as Gavaskar and Shastri that used to be immensely insightful.

Switching from Sky or Channel 4's coverage to the Star coverage in 2002 wasn't a step down at all, in fact you'd rather listen to Boycott and Gavaskar than the likes of Dermot Reeve and Mark Nicholas.

It's absolutely horrendous what the BCCI's editorial policies and the advent of franchise cricket done to Indian television coverage.

I'm surprised you included Harsha Bhogle.

He's the most unbiased commentator in my opinion.

Oh wow. Was that on the Indian broadcast? Was it English or Hindi?

Yeah English broadcast in India. I generally switch to one of the South Indian languages when it's available as they're often more crass and entertaining than the English lot who try to be sophisticated but are mostly stupid.

Commies want to sound analytical and intelligent without causing controversy because controversy brings less work especially if you offend the wrong people.

Really? All I ever hear on BCCI sponsored broadcasts are "BCCI is the best board" "Kohli is unmatched as a batsman (include some old name for comparison)" and "India is best team ever".

Obviously paraphrasing here but that's his whole schtick at the moment.

He has to acknowledge the board which he works for, and it's not like Pakistani commentators don't hype our own players to the moon.

Harsha is very unbiased when it comes to talking about players from other countries. His insights are always interesting, and he is not as stubborn as the likes of Manjrekar, who will let personal views interfere with their jobs.

An overall good commentator.

Ian Bishop is another good commentator.

Other than Babar, none of our players are hyped unnecessarily by our commentators.

Ravi Shastri when he was commentating. He was just so biased and even rude to fellow commentators. There was a bit of needle between him and Barry Richards if memory serves me correctly. India this and India that he thought everyone was madly in love with his country. Often i used to mute the voice to avoid his drivel.

Gavaskar, Shastri

Ian Botham

Ian Chappell (the worst)

Amir Sohail, Rashid Latit

Chapelli is one of the best commentators in the world, and in my top 3 commies to listen to in the game. Pak fans dislike him because of the comment he made on the Pakistani team, but that's his personality. He is very open and doesn't mince words, a bit like Boycott.

In fact, I don't think Chappell has ever been particularly biased to Australia whenever I've listened to him. Mark Waugh probably was the most biased I found and pretty much every Fox commentator out there, Chappelli has unfortunately been relegated to the radio now (think he does commentary for SEN) and it's hard to listen to him nowadays.

He could be in the top 3 in your books, that's fine. Not mining words is one thing and blindly hating on a team is another. The guy has issues with the Pakistan team on the most petty things! Of all the things, in 2011 WC, he was hating on Afridi's wicket taking celebration and on why the Pakistan team did a huddle after bundling out Australia for 200 odd  we all also heard his comments about Pak touring Australia which again were completely over the line.

I don't care if he's not biased in favor of Australia, though as a commentator that's kind of like what you are supposed to do, but obsessively hating on one cricketing nation makes him a pretty terrible commentator imo

I didn't know about the earlier instances, I only knew about the comment about touring Australia and tbf, you can understand him to an extent. Pakistan had a very strong team in his playing days and to see them not even drawing a single test for more than 20 years in Australia must have irked him to see their fall from grace. Holding also makes comments criticising India/BCCI and Indian fans don't like him as well. But I genuinely think neither Chappell nor Holding has anything personal against Pakistan or India. Holding has a dislike towards the commercialisation of the game while I actually find Chappelli to be one of the few western voices who have an understanding of the asian culture and the subcontinent in general (Dav Whatmore, late Bob Woolmer, late Dean Jones the Amla comment notwithstanding, even Steve Waugh being the others) and aren't condescending like Kerry O'Keefe or Mark Waugh.

If I get a chance, listen to how he commentaries on Pak games during 2011 WC. He had nothing but contempt for the team and came across as very childish and just plain bitter.

I don't doubt his understanding of the game or his insightfulness

Rashid Latif by quite a margin. And he thinks he is doing the country a favor by his bias.

Far too many these days.

In fact more annoying ones than good ones at the moment.

Bangladeshi commentators are often very biased. I hope they get better.

I find commentators from New Zealand kind of biased also.

Isha Guha when India are playing Pakistan.

Must be mixed emotions for her in the current England v India test series.
