"Most PCB officials would be behind bars if match-fixing becomes criminalised" : Rashid Latif

KARACHI: Pakistan’s former wicketkeeper-batsman Rashid Latif, while speaking on local sports channel, claimed that a majority of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) officials would be in jail if match-fixing was criminalised.

The 51-year-old stated that reports were frequently manipulated while the people in authority could do whatever they desired. “There is a history in how match-fixing inquiry reports are manipulated. The authority can do whatever they want.

This is why we talk about making new rules, about making this a criminal act. Majority of the PCB officials would be seen behind bars if this becomes criminalised. Then we will find out who is actually corrupt,” Latif said.

Latif questioned the timing and motive of those players who had been accused of fixing in the past. “The players that people are naming such as Mohammad Irfan and Mohammad Nawaz, do you know when they reported the cases and why? How many of them have still not reported? I have videos from the past as well.

I don’t want to go into the details of it as it will create a very big controversy in Pakistan,” he said. The former wicketkeeper-batsman claimed that everyone was being misguided and were unaware of the actual events that were transpiring behind the scenes.

“Everyone is being misguided. This is because most people are not aware of what happened on the night of February 8, 2017, or what happened during the match on February 9, how their phones were brought to Pakistan and opened on February 12, how a statement was taken on February 17? How the bats and their grips were cleaned?” he said.

Rashid Latif is a broken record. Makes all the claims in the world but never brings the proof to support them. Attention seeker

Ive heard over the years that Rashid Latif is a good guy. That may well be true but he lacks diplomacy and therefore an unsuitable captain.

If you criticise an organisation then he shouldn’t be allowed to work with them. It’s as simple as that for me regardless of whether there is truth in what’s he’s saying.

Don’t know and care about his opinion on abstract matters,

But for that mixtape he dropped on Sehwag Champions Trophy 17, he is GOAT shaz619

I am surprised Rashid hasn't been sued yet. He seems to say a lot of things without showing much proofs.

He may well be right but he needs to show evidences.

He'll be next if the legal action against Akhtar is successful.

well he is the one who broke the original fixing scandals in world cricket.

Should’ve said ex pcb officials. Unless he got some inside information on the ppl currently employed by PCB.

Rashid should go to the court if he has proof as if any such thing is present talking about is gonna serve no one. He should use the proper route and provide evidences regarding these things and make cricket clean if what he is saying is true.

He's thrown allegations around, right, left and centre on tv and on social media. In fact I seem to recall he threw a few names around on social media then deleted the posts.

These days Rashid latif is the one who is creating problems for others.

He is the one who circulated this news that Zaka Ashraf is not picking up Babar's call without any proof, now enjoying whole chaos silently.

Too much negativity by him.

Looks like he is crawled back out the woodwork again just to stay relevant

Rashid Latif contract terminated from PTV Sports because the went criticised the Chairman PCB and officials for lacklustre World cup performance

Rashid Latif threatens to reveal ‘match-fixing secrets’ of Pakistan cricket
Former Pakistan captain Rashid Latif has promised to “reveal everything” about the match-fixing scandals that rocked Pakistan and world cricket in the ’90s in his biographical account which he said will open everyone’s eyes.

Latif, a whistleblower in the Pakistan dressing room, said he has already started working on the biography. “I can assure you I will reveal everything as it happened and the book will open everyone’s eyes,” Latif told Geo TV. Since retiring in 2004, it is the first time Latif has spoken about releasing his autobiography.

I'll be the first one to buy his book. Remember when Manoj Prabhakar took Kapil Dev's name? It was then when Rashid Latif said in an interview that Prabhakar was the biggest badmaash, and he was completely involved. Just after that Prabhakar was caught and banned for life due to match fixing.

Why can't Rashid Latif move on from this more than 25 year old episode? Does he consider himself above judiciary? In 80s, 90s lot of great cricketers came in Pakistan cricket and I can say Rashid was one of the most inferior character. He is full of jealousy, a self-righteous person who thinks he has done no wrong, he keeps judging and scrutinizing everyone else on every platform. He will keep milking 90s episode to earn his bread & butter.

During his playing days he never tried to improve his own batting, that's why Moin was always preferred over him
