Worst choke ever in a WC. Allan Donald and Klusener couldn't have done this. 3 wickets in the last 3 balls off a poor bowler like Pandya is absolutely terrible.
 
As [MENTION=21215]srh[/MENTION] already said it was more of selfish play which lead to choke absolutely disgusting by Mahmdullah my fav bat of Bangladesh.

I'll give them credit. They were actually the better team. Our team is quite terrible and i don't expect us to win anything. Heck we might get smashed by Australia and crash out if we continue like this but BD literally gifted this match on a silver platter to MS. Worst choke I've ever seen. Pakistan, England and SA could not have done worse.
 
They say experienced players are key to success of the team. But this match showed no matter how much experience you have there is no barrier to stopping brainless batting.

Very true i will take the win but i know these rank turners are destroying our batsmen we can't beat top this way.
 
Match was 50-50 in last 4 overs,then a brilliant spell by Bumrah and a brain freez by BDs,not chokers
 
This Mahmudullah proved to be a joke today. Things like this show Bangla are still minnows.

Last 3 balls was definite choking. Mush had just hit two boundaries in that over. I guess they wanted to finish it like MS finished AL Amin in the Asia Cup. But it was not to be and they actually lost from there :msd
 
You can't be a choker unless you are expected to win.
If you are expected to win, then you can't be a minnow.

Pick one. You cant have your gulab Jamun and eat it too.

Its never over till its over. I felt it was way over the top and way too early.

Wickets were falling whenever i left the room ..... My brother made me shuttle between the rooms throughout the game. Hardly saw any wickets live, just the replay of wickets.

What makes this worse is, this is in an over by mediocre indian tuktuk trundler bowler. Now imagine if it was an ATG like Mustafizur or amir

Premature Celebration.
Forgot golden rule of Cricket be it ODI or T20 or Test . The rule is " Game is not won or lost till the last ball is bowled especially in games where all 3 results are possible" .
 
Very similar to 99 WC choke.. Klusener hits two boundaries and Saffers would think they are in finals and then the impossible happened..Mushfiqur Rahim hits two boundaries, celebrates and makes a mess after that..

Saffers didn't have 4 wickets in hand though. This was worse IMO.
 
This was horribly painful to follow. Why go for the friggen glory shots when you hadn't even draw the match? Feel for their fans. Golden opportunity to put India's WC campaign in peril and they literally present them with a gift for Holi.

Just cut the crap and give them the respect they deserve ..your over hyped team almost got knocked out of the tournament ...so called best t20 team almost lost to a minnow side...try criticizing your side rather then picking on the guys who nearly made you peeeee your pants .

Still not over the loss the other night I see :srini Anyway they actually batted,fielded and bowled better than us which is why this is a terrible choke.
 
Pandya bowling was blessing in disguise.

He was bowling lenght ball and made batsman over confident against him.
They became greedy, had it been a brilliant bowler, they would have dabbed and run hard, but pandya outfoxed them with his mediocre death bowling, consecutive fours made mushfiqur complacent and he payed the price, searching for nonexistent glory shot, also putting full tosses away is not easy.

Greed to glory without realism is a recipe for failure.

Still not over ? Chota bacha hai kia tu ?..I accepted the defeat every time we lost to you guys ..never complained once ...you need to start accepting the fact that India almost got exposed today ...the whole Indian team feeds off kohli ...the day MSD retires ...Indian teams not going to be a threat anymore

The Indian team will get even better under Kohlis captaincy. But I wouldn't expect you to see that. Also nobody claimed we are a great t20 side anyway. Why are you bringing this up at all. Point is Bangla choked when they should have won comfortably . That's all this thread is about. Make a separate thread about shortcomings of Indian team if you wish to brother . Don't derail this one :)

today's match:
1. When you plan well, you actually can perform well (Keeping Kohli quiet)
2. Mindless Slogging can work once in a while especially with gifts from fielding side
3. MSD is faster than speed of light, that stumping
4. Don't Count your chickens until they hatch (the dumb premature Mushfiqur Rahim celebration ); doing things prematurely is considered a bad thing in every aspect of life :P

5.There is only 1 MSD, and kids should get inspiration from stars not try to ape them(Going for the glory shots)

6. Dhoni likes to take stumps at the end of the match, so don't try to race him!! :D

The only place you actually seem to win once in a blue moon is Dhaka, outside Dhaka I think your win rate would be less than 10%.

Barring the associates and a depleted Zimbabwe Bangladesh's record is pathetic. Yes, you have improved but you are still to even manage the levels of Zimbabwe in 90s, who used to give scares to top teams once in a while.
 
i dont think this choke is anywhere as iconic as south africa's in 99. we are still talking about it 15 years later ffs!

bangla bros probably won't forget it for a while but the rest will move on.

Lmaoo, choke is unreal! Can't believe, driving position opposition already gave it away and Bangla did Bangla again prolly started celebrating before finishing the game
 
Someone needs to tell them that celebration starts after you have crossed the line and not before that. I guess they can't control their emotions once the see they are in control of the game and a win is inevitable.
 
I feel really happy after they lost it from winning position and the reaction from crowd was priceless
 
I was watching the game and to me it wasn't that surprising that Bangladesh lost the game once Shakib got out:

- Once Kayes got to about 95, Shakib was doing pretty much everything, scoring 90% of the runs. The cramp got to Kayes, also I think he played a little selfishly in the 90s
- But there were too many runs for him to get by himself
- Bangladesh don't bat deep

So they needed Shakib to be there until the end because he was the only one who was capable of getting the runs.

In my opinion Bangladesh lost this match when Kayes cramped up and also started playing selfishly to get the hundred. If he didn't cramp then it could have gone differently; or if he played with a proper style after cramping (i.e. realising he was holding the team back by not being able to run and playing to hit out or get out) then they'd have won this game.

As long as Bangladesh don't repeat the mistakes at the World Cup next year, I'll be OK.

I admit I was furious about the loss yesterday (I'm sure quite a few here will take pleasure in that hehe). But at the end of the day, the game vs Zimbabwe in 2011 was meaningless. The game vs India at the 2016 World T20 had little relevance. The Nidahas Trophy loss to India A a few months ago was meaningless. The dead rubber loss vs Afghanistan was meaningless. Yesterday's game vs West Indies was the most important one, and even then its just a pointless bilateral ODI series outside of the coming ODI league.

I hope that Mushfiq can channel the spirit of his unbeaten knock vs India in 2007 and in 2012 Asia Cup amongst others in the coming world cup.
 
South Africa's choking theory is overstated. They are ex No.1 team and almost every-time went to world cups as one of the favorites. Yes they choked in couple of them but also lost few due to bad luck like 1992, 2003 etc.

Bangladesh are not chokers...they are pure incompetent. They just got blanked 3-0 by Afg...lol.
Stop putting SA and BD in same sentence.

Really? Bangladesh beating India in India in an ICC tournament would have sent shock waves through the world. No idea how they lost that.

Bangladesh are not chokers. They just lack the total ability to overhaul strong opposition, something similar to India of 90s (full of potential and passion, but falling short - At least we had Sachin!) So Bangladesh have a long way to go, if they continue the same intensity & passion, they will reach there (it will take time. They are definitely on the Indian mode, rather than Srilanka who has Off/On periods. For fast-track, they need raw & strong talents as in Pakistan who pop out from time to time!)
 
They are not chokers but glorified minnows...in odis they just got a lucky beating teams like transitioning pak, fatigued india, abdless & steynless saf...who all are in fatigue after 2015WC...as soon as teams got settled and had good look at them banglaboys were shown place(2016 asia cup, 2016 wt20 against pak, winless saf tour, home odi series loss against England B team)...heck they even lost a home odi to afg and almost lost the series

In t20s they are in the level of associate team..who gets whitewashed by afg?

They never gonna improve except beating top teams once in a while in world tournaments till their players correct their attitudes(senior players celebrating other teams loss after getting crashed out of the tournament)...

BD is close to 100 ELO points in ODI. If 100 ELO is a minnow level then Current Aus and Pak is also the same.

Back in the days, BD was at 50 or 60 ELO only.

But yes, i dont see any raw new talents in BD coming out thus they will struggle against top teams.
 
Minnows can't be Chokers. Choker is a great side that messes up in big games. Or side that is Favorite to win but cant. Bangladesh is mostly the underdog and still acts like a minnow most of the time.

To be choker you have to choke from a winning position in an individual match. Choke is associated by individual match situation and not with tournament.

Disagree. A minnow can still choke. A choke is when you lose from a winning position. Bangladesh have done that many times, for example this week and also against India in the World T20. Netherlands also choked against South Africa in the 2014 World T20. They should have won that game, no idea how they didn't.
