Mufti Tariq Masood: delivering non Halal food as a delivery driver is Haram for a Muslim

I am frankly shocked by this statement from Mufti Tariq Masood. I know thousands of brothers mostly Pakistani international students who work as Uber Eats delivery drivers. Delivery orders come from different places and these drivers are almost desperate for money and try to take as many order deliveries.

Now, the Mufti says the earning from this is Haram for a Muslim. So for example a brother taking an order delivery for non Halal chicken cannot Islamically take the earnings for this.

Can anyone tell me if this is a true statement?

It is a true statement if you follow Tariq Masood and consider his rulings binding on you.

Most people will ignore it.

If I had a dollar every time a small-town maulvi in Pak labeled random things as haram to get some attention.

These muftis will block every possible way to live a happy life. Why he is using facebook which is invented by a kafir and has offices in jewish state

Problem is this is a mainstream Maulvi whose views influence the life's of many Muslims. Therefore important to discuss about right or wrong.

For example, my family's day starts of in the morning by watching lectures of Mufti Tariq Masood.

Bro are you for real? One of the most famous Pakistani Islamic scholars. Videos of him literally plastered all over social media.

I don't live in Pakistan. It's an Islamic country, isn't the food in Pakistan halal anyway? I'm assuming he means the stuff that's transported to hotels maybe?

All good brother. I'm more referring to delivery drivers in Western countries. As a lot of Muslim brothers do Uber Eats deliveries.

Lol I have heard about him, I think he should stick to How best Biryani is served and Second Marriages, but should try and stay away from labelling stuff haram and halal.

Not to make fun of him but I think he used to sell honey before becoming a Mufti, since that business did not pan out he must have switched professions, don't you need some kind of a degree to become a Mufti and hold enough accreditation to label things haram and halal? Followers do not mean he knows anything.

Actually this guy is famous for mostly trolling, biryani, shadi, doosri shadi and cringe jokes, which maybe good for a laugh.
Most scholars of any religion become famous and earn their legitimacy by extensive studies and years of dedication to the religion.

So what you guys are saying is that I shouldn't take his statement too seriously?

You should refer this matter to Islamic scholars. This isn't the right platform to ask for Islamic advice.

I'm getting an ad which has music in it while watching mufti sahab's video on YT, as he's monetizing his YT so he will be paid for it, isn't music haram? Hence his earnings are haram ? Guys i think i have a new question

I bet most people wouldn't be able to differentiate between Halal and Haram food in a blind taste test, like Pepsi vs Coke.

You have introduced him well. Absolutely right

I assume he actually wanted to become a stand-up comedian, but his family opposed it due to religious reasons. Now, he is living his dream of becoming a stand-up comedian while also being a scholar.

Well that is no problem then. He is entitled to his opinion which applies to Pakistan, anyone who listens to his sermons in the west can make their own mind up.

By all means give up the Uber or food delivery business and get a job in a Halal restaurant cleaning dishes instead. Or if you prefer, stop listening to a Pakistani maulvi and keep on delivering.

Expose and stop his lectures , trust me he is useless.

Islamic scholars are mostly preaching the teachings of their respective sect instead of the real Quran and Hadees. But in this case, IMO it is not permissible to work in delivering prohibited food such as that which contains pork or the meat of animals that were not slaughtered in the prescribed manner, or alcohol.

In UK, nearly all the chicken served is halal anyway when ordering from UE or JE type establishments regardless of ownership.

You need to check what statement we are discussing here , Mufti does not mean he has divine revelations , I can show several of his wrong stories , unauthentic statements .
What does the 'Mufti' title mean?

Mufti Tariq Masood has 4.53 million subs on YouTube, a platform owned by a Google, a company that supports Israel and recently fired employees who demonstrated pro-Palestine behavior.

It will be interesting to see how Mufti sahab justifies “YouTube not haraam” but “delivering non-halal food haraam”.

Everything goes out of the window and is subject to T&Cs when you are earning millions.

Not too clear cut, as Nimbus is the one that needs shelved and YT earns loads of dough for many Muslims as you say including Mufti Masood who may not even be aware as he's too busy delivering fatwas about Uber Eats.

A food for thought

Islam is all about common sense and logic. If some modern mufti says things against logic, then sorry I take the call myself.

I think all these so-called muftis, social media scholars and religious leaders in Pakistan are actually worse than Netanyahu, Modi, Bush, Trump, Biden, Obama, Osama, Hitler combined.

They have ruined generations of a nation using their faith, the tech intolerance, old farsooda ways that stunt the growth of a nation, teach very little about haqooq il ibaad, which are more important than haqooq Allah and refuse to use common sense approach and opt for the more rigid, controversial draconian approach just to make a penny.

The american scholars like Yasir Qadhi, Omer Suleiman, etc are so much better because they teach harmony, peace, use of positive and common sense approach to most issues.

To compare Murderers to controversial scholars is beyond delusion.

Next, you can't deliver halal food in a vehicle that is made by non-Muslims.
I guess back to Camels and Horses.

To compare Murderers to contraversial scholars is beyond delusion.
Not at all, if the people in question only spread hatred, bigotry and division and use religion to destroy the lives of multiple generations.

Through such rhetoric, these people have destroyed countless lives and have totally destroyed the course of a nation.

Common sense, logic and faith in religion cannot go hand in hand.

There will always be an element of blind faith if you are religious and you will have to accept things that are beyond common sense and logic and there is no shame in that.

There are two ways to exercise control...

Use the media or use religion.

I'm sorry, but the likes of Hitler and Netanyahu have and are commiting crimes beyond imagination, and when one compares this to contraversial speeches is infact Lost!

I was making particular reference to the fatwa in this thread.

The mufti who gets driven around in a mercedes with a belly full, has no right to pass rulings which are non-islamic.

They just need to cancel the order if they're worried about it right? Probably would only be a small percentage.
