From what we can all see, this guy is all set for being included in the PSL.

Not there in any team for PSL3 but surely he should be there? And why was he missed in the first instance?

He's not gonna do much apart from a flukey innings or two.

Yeah, he's got raw potential and has a strong physique but he's lacking in so many areas technically, offensively and defensively. International level bowlers will expose those flaws in a matter of overs.

One of his major problems is not being able to keep a steady base when playing shots. Quite often his weight shifts from one leg to another causing his body to move laterally and his feet lifting off the ground. This imbalance forces him to rely solely on upperbody strength and hand speed which are great. But without a firm base, they are left ineffective. Against better, faster and more accurate bowlers, you will mistime all your shots.

Even though he hits boundaries regularly against domestic bowlers, most of his shots are traveling half the distance they should be traveling. With his physique, hand-speed and hand-eye, he should be hitting 100m sixes with ease.

Why was he even dropped from T20s after his decent debut performances?

We need bashers like him in our t20 line up instead of Babar, shehzad

Mukhtar Ahmed is one of the few players in domestic T20 tournament who has hit both spinners and pacers effortlessly, his addition will enhance the entertainment value of PSL.

I thought each PSL Team will select 1 more player after this national cup...

Yes - I think the idea is to look at the best players from Nat T20 so he may have a chance. But my point is that he was not picked in the first draft.

I watched video of his recent century and despite all the flaws being pointed out (in this thread), what stood out was that he was trying to hit it straight and scored a lot of runs in the 'V' without having to resort to cross batted hoicks like Afridi, Akmal, Shehzad, even Hafeez etc.

I will gladly take him over any of the goons that keep failing and still keep getting chances (due to their contacts) and are much older than Mukhtar!

Any chance he can still make the cut?

Yes all six teams will pick one player each and their squads will consist of 21 players (20 earlier)... The players will be top domestic players or players which emerge from talent hunt programs conducted by the Franchises

Worth a chance. He's better than some of the rubbish that has been picked for the PSL.

Just needs one chance and one good game! But who will help him?

Should definitely be picked. Sharjeel was bashed endlessly here for being a tullaybaaz, but he is now considered one of the best modern day hitters. Mukhtar obviously doesn't have Sharjeel's talent, but his relentless hunger to dominate bowling attacks is a breath of fresh air in Pakistan cricket right now.

He deserves a chance. I haven't seen him play enough to judge him but in T20s players like him can be successful and the PSL would certainly be a good stage for him to prove he's a good aggressive hitter.

We need a right-handed " hack " at the top. He could be very useful. :fz

If a PSL franchise doesn't pick him, then I give up.

47 off 22 for him today. Getting back into form but in huge chases like this, you can really make an impression with a match winning century if you really want to catch the selectors eyes. But hopefully he is picked up by a PSL team as Sharjeel's ban has opened up a chance for an aggressive opener.

Would be a good choice for KK, IU and QG as all three lack an extra opener or even main opener

Why is he being ignored?

I had wondered before as to why he got discarded by the Pak T20i team when he played 6 games back in 2015 with an average of 32 with 0 not outs and a SR of over 143.

Even his domestic T20 stats are not that bad having just played 46 games and averaging 28.77 with 2 not outs and a SR of 146.

Has he ever featured in any PSL games in the 5 seasons?

I can not seem to remember as on his profile it indicates Karachi Kings but not sure if he ever played or was even picked.

Why was he discarded in the first place? Was his game so bad or he did not have many shots as I think it was one of the latter but looking around as others that have or get picked are not any better in stats at least.
