They need a top order bateman to partner shan masood id go with bantom with vince at 3

Interesting that they have kept several of their veterans.

Not sure why they insist on higging three leg spinners. Qadir needs to play as many games as possible, but wont get more than a couple .

Multan take Chris Lynn for their first pick

Multan with no pick in the Diamond or Gold round, but they take Sohail Khan as their first Silver pick

Mohammad Rizwan has been picked by Multan

So Rizwan and Shan opening the batting for them this year?

Multan take Shahnawaz Dhani as their first Emerging pick

Imran Khan Sr picked in the Supplementary category

1. CHRIS LYNN
2. MOHAMMAD RIZWAN (wk)
3. SHAN MASOOD (c)
4. JAMES VINCE
5. RILEE ROSSOUW
6. SOHAIB MAQSOOD/KHUSHDIL SHAH
7. SHAHID AFRIDI
8. SOHAIL TANVIR
9. SOHAIL KHAN
10. SHAHNAWAZ DHANI
11. IMRAN TAHIR

People talk up Andy Flower but honestly I'm not that convinced. There are some bizarre picks: Shan Masood, Afridi in 2021, Sohail Khan.

Afridi is there for balance. He was still one of the most economical spinners last year, plus he can bat. His presence is also great for the team and for the crowd, since at the end of the day these teams need to market themselves too.

Masood did pretty well last year in the PSL. So I guess it’s understandable they want to retain him. Note that he was one of the main reasons for the Sultans success, by incorporating data-based strategic planning from the dressing room into decisions taken on the field.

Sohail Khan... beats me. I think he’ll warm the bench. Expect Sohaibullah to play.

Pretty good team. Though I wish Usman Qadir could have gotten a shot.

My MS line-up:

1. James Vince (F)
2. Mohammad Rizwan (WK)
3. Chris Lynn (F)
4. Rilee Rossouw (F)
5. Shan Masood (C)
6. Khushdil Shah

I would like to see Shan Masood dropped with captaincy given to Rizwan. Mohammad Umar, Carlos Braithwaite and Adam Lyth playing would be nice to see.

After hyping Umer Khan to the moon and always looking perplexed whenever he was benched by Karachi surprised Ali Tareen did not pick Umer Khan.

His people at the draft looked a bit confused at times and it looked like there were a few debates going on.

Bowling looks weak, but have to put faith in Dhani and Sohaibullah. Larkana and interior sindh need Shahnawaz Dhani to become a big player, so we can help cricket grow in these areas as well. I am extremely happy to finally see a sindhi speaking player who has potential to become a good player and possibly represent Pakistan one day. Congratulations Shahnawaz Dhani and all our youngsters who are going to get a chance to play in the upcoming PSL.

MS always seem to be looking for the oldest bowlers possible, many who are past their sell by date eg M Irfan Senior, Sohail Tanvir, Junaid Khan, Imran Tahir, Shahid Afridi and now Sohail Khan and Imran Khan Snr can be added to the list.

Chris lynn
Shan masood
Vince
Rizwan

Ah okay thanks saj bhai somewhat confirms the rumours that ali tareen was less involved this draft might also be that he is giving excuses

Pretty good team. Though I wish Usman Qadir could have gotten a shot.

Based on recent form, updating the above to include Vincey and Qadir. Going with three leggies. Wanted Sohaibullah to play but looks unlikely now. Dropping Khushdil since he seems mentally shot these days.

The GOAT legend Sir Shan Masood will be opening the innings or batting at 3.

Putting him in the middle-order is wishful thinking at best.

Team to beat for me. Top marks to their selection tbh. Changing captains also might turn the boys to men now. On paper some serious t20 talent their. My team is

Lynn
Vince
Masood
Rizwan
Maqsood
Rossow
Afridi
Tanvir
Qadir
Tahir
Dhani

That Imran Khan senior was bowling superbly in the national t20 tournament. I hope he gets the spot in playing XI of Multan Sultans.

Pretty sure they will continue shuffling Top-4 every game.
One match Shan will be batting at #3 and next match at #7.

Sohaib Maqsood performs in first couple of matches and then again towards end. In between, he manages to mess it up.

Shan will not play I think. That’s why they made Rizwan captain.

In light of Rizwan's recent form, I think MS might have the strongest batting line-up in the tournament.

But bowling looks very and miss. Its going to be heavily dependent on Tanvir and Tahir.

Dhani could be a wildcard.

They were the best team last year before COVID derailed them and they look even stronger this year. The decision to make Rizwan captain reflects well on their management too.

This would be my XI:

1.Mohammad Rizwan (c)(wk)
2.James Vince
3.Chris Lynn
4.Rilee Roussow
5.Sohaib Maqsood
6.Khushdil Shah
7.Shahid Afridi
8.Sohail Tanvir
9.Usman Qadir
10.Sohaib Ullah
11.Shahnawaz Dhani

Rizwan becoming captain opens a lot of combinations for them. Really good decision by the management.

1. Mohammad Rizwan (Wk) (C)
2. Chris Lynn
3. James Vince
4. Sohaib Maqsood
5. Rilee Roussow
6. Khushdil Shah
7. Shahid Afridi
8. Sohail Tanvir
9. Sohail Khan/ Sohaib Ullah
10. Imran Tahir
11. Shahnawaz Dhani/ Mohammad Umer (E)

I don’t know why but I get the feeling that they will go with three leggies. They won’t miss out on Usman Qadir’s form.

I also would really like him to get games but, not sure how they will manage that for reasonable number of matches with no 3rd fast bowling option which would be important. If Braithwate plays as one of the 3 pacers instead of either Afridi or Tahir then this can give another combination where Qadir can come in. Braithwate is not good enough a batsman to play instead of one of the specialist batsman in my opinion and a proper pace bowling all rounder in top 6 could have have given a better chance to 3 leggies combination. Still you never know and as you said he is in good form.

Shan and Rizwan have played together in White Ball Cricket for Pakistan-A on numerous occasions, both playing in top order. Shan is a very good batsman for ODI format.
For PSL, MS should use him in top order. He isn't a bad option at all. If he plays regularly during this edition of PSL, I can see him scoring a hundred in first half.

It would not get worse than shan and rizwan at the top of the order.
