New Delhi: Sakshi Maharaj, who is known for making making inflammatory remarks, has courted a controversy as he remarked that a law should be enforced to stop the construction of graveyard and that Muslims should be cremated since there is not enough land for graveyards.

"Whether it is named Kabristaan (graveyard) or Shamshaan (crematoriums), nobody needs to be buried. There are 2-2.5 crore Hindu saints in this country who should have a memorial after their death. That will require land. There are 20 crore Muslims, all of them need a grave. Where is the land in Hindustan?" he said while addressing a public rally in Unnao on Monday.

Reacting to the BJP MP's remark, the Congress Party on Tuesday said Sakshi Maharaj's controversial 'Kabristaan' remark is part of a communal atmosphere being created by the saffron party amid the ongoing assembly elections in politically crucial Uttar Pradesh.

From a secular point of view, his point is quite valid. however, Double story or even tripple story graveyard are answer to diminishing land
 
Well that is a problem but the easy solution is to re-use graves as the bodies decompose over time, unless he's proposing a genocide in the coming few months?
 
Agree with Sakshee jee , too much lands gets wasted in these new graveyards that keep coming up to meet the demand which also leads to deforestation. Somehow their should be facility to re-use old graveyards.
 
If we disregard the motive behind the statement, then he does have a point. Pakistan is also land stressed and we have alot of people to bury. However, a method employed in Pakistan is that if a grave is not visited for a few years it is razed and another deceased buried there.


Besides it is my believe that people visit the graves of their parents and grand-parents, but not of the generation before that.

It's not coming from a secular point of view, the MP wants the land to dedicate to 200,000 Hindu saints.
 
Bury the body and put a fruiting plant on top of it.

When the plant grows in to a tree, it gives fruits and also serves as a symbol of the person buried under it.

I do not like the idea of cremation. Trees are cut down and also it creates pollution. Use Modern Tech and simply turn the body into Ash and then bury the ash with a seed in it.

Alas. Our people are not smart. We keep fighting over petty issues.

I condemn it if he wants graveyard for Hindu Saints, But I don't think he will even let any saints come near Muslims -- dead or alive.

I guess this really good suggestion, when a muslim die, bury hit and plant a tree on grave (the burial place), When tree grows tall cut it and use it for cremate Hindu Fellas

In Islam reusing the graves after a stipulated amount of time is permissible. I think graves of great great grandfathers can be reused if sakshi maharaj's concern about lack of land is true. But tbh its nothing but inflammatory remarks. Why did he just talk about muslims and not christians? Just point scoring.

What about christians then. They also bury. If there is no religion called ISLAM this Party has no politics to do is as simple as that. JBOI.

Its no secret that BJP does communal politics. They have to rake up some issue related to Muslims or the other to polarize people and get votes.

Other political parties suck up to Muslims to get their votes and do nothing for them when they get in power.

Basically Muslims are nothing but Vote bank for political parties.

Apart from other parties who do nothing for muslims when they get in power. This party is simply like a Zionist Israeli who always pull the legs of MUSLIMS no matter what, how, when, where, why.

The holy men in the picture look like a lot of Pakistani maulvis. Very well fed with bulging tummies. Good to see they don't believe in denying themselves the pleasures of food in lands where so many go without it.
 
What is he talking about?Will 20 crore die together?Foolish statements ,even Sahir Ludhianvi's grave and many other's grave was sold by waqf board to build something,same will be done.

Seeing these people wonder if its better to have the terrible SP or BSP itself in power.

A lot of times nowadays "burning" is done just by putting the body in a chamber and it comes with ashes(organs donated are taken before).

My uncle was done that way and tbh even I can't bear some priest getting money over my death.

I think people need to do some more research and stop believe in what media feeds you...RSS has a Muslim branch as well, not one but few across India..

RSS is not about Hindutva, its about Nationalism...

No way is RSS not an Hindutva organization ,their idea of nationalism coincides with a religion.

Even if they have their token Muslim schools(which i agree they do operate) ,their dislike for Christians is on another level to make them "not" about Hindutva.

Now lets first debug about nationalism:

RSS has never openly fought against Colonialism ,a fact written in various books,even their second leader kept the same sentiment.

Now if RSS was a nationalist why won't it hoist the tricolor ,reason because they probably opposed the tricolor and just wanted the saffron flag.

There are various articles and books on them being the best behaved school kids during british rule and "inline".

But you cannot forget that they mix up Hindu religion with Nationalism.

Most metros/Tier 1/Tier 2 even Tier 3 towns now have electric ovens for cremation.Thats a good step.

Supreme Court said no election campaigns on communal lines.Should have said this 70 years ago.This vote banking politics is nauseating.

It hoists the Tri Color.If you read the flag code,before 2004 no non govt building was allowed to hoist the tri color.
 
In Islam graves can be reused my Maternal Uncle was buried in the same place as his father. We do not use coffins just white cotton cloth so our bodies even most of the bones are absorbed into the ground in 2-3 decades. It is actually a better and more eco friendly option then burning although it is not done commonly but the truth is it is an option.

It is up to each individual to decide if they want to be buried or cremated. If a Muslim wants to be cremated or a Hindu buried then their wishes should be carried out. I believe many Hindu's are buried as well like a politician who recently passed on. As for land many old and damaged graves can be reused for the newly deceased. Allah has decreed that believers in Islam have to be buried no matter what Sakshi says.

How long does it take for a body to decompose at sea?

It depends on the temperature of the water. In cold water, the bacterial action that causes a body to bloat with gas may be so slowed that the body stays on the seabed. Most graves in India are reused over an over again. Its a fairly old practice.
 
I do wonder from time to time how many people are buried underneath the exact spots we are walking.

Not inconceivable that there are mass graves under the surfaces which people inhabit

Here is even a better solution, stop reproducing so you don't have to worry about lack of land. Overpopulation has a far greater impact on environment even though this guy doesn't care about that. Soon people in sub continent will be fighting over a drop of water if this trend continues.

Do they hoist the tri-colour flag on Independence and Republic Day celebrations,, why an RSS activist Godse need to have a tatoo named Ismail on his hand and kill Gandhi.. Why the murderer of the Father of the Nation is celebrated like a hero in this organisation and why the BJP leader and PM of India has to visit his statue with garlands...So what is their nationalism?...

on what bases you are claiming that Indian PM do not care about over population? He is 100 times bigger than all other south Asian politicians combined...he has a very solid vision for India and he is working day and night to make India a very prosperous country in next decade or so...

I want to answer but first would like to know about how much do you know about Indian history and particularly history around 1930s to 1950.

Gandhi was not a saint...he was a politicians and master in playing religious card to gain some popularity..his actions against some of the other freedom fighters who had a different view than him were suspicious and dubious...his philosophy was " my way or highway".....his decisions have damaged India badly and India is still paying for those selfish decisions.

Yes they do hoist the tricolour.

That tattoo story isnt proven.RSS had expelled Godse before he killed Gandhi.The Congress tried its best to stick the charges on RSS,but they couldnot and had to lift the ban on RSS.

I dont know what story about Modi and Godse you are talking aboout..

Btw Bhagat Sngh,Subhash Bose all disagreed with Gandhi,and they are as nationalist as it gets.

Although I agree that overpopulation could be killing India, the solution is not as simple as you put it here. If people "stop" reproducing, the country will very soon be full of senior citizens and retirees to take care of with not enough young/productive population. There is a healthy ratio that should be maintained.

In addition to that the problem is also with certain religion where people believe contraceptives are haram and hence continue to multiply.

That said, Sakshi Maharaj is an idiot who ideally belongs in prison for repeatedly making communal statements against Muslims & Christians. Except media, nobody really gives much attention to this guy. He is just a political compulsion for BJP who still depends heavily on such radical philosophy to gain an edge over its rival parties in elections.
