Wasim Akram :

"My advice to Pak players is to relax and enjoy the moment"

"Leave the social media for a few days and stop watching TV for a few days and try and spend time together as a team"

"Make things simple, dont have long team meetings; ;dont complicate matters"

"We must also get behind the team and let them know that whatever the outcome, as long as they fight, we will be support them all the way"

Mohammad Yousuf:

"Indian batsmen are good players of spin and fast-bowling and can rotate strike very well"

"Indian batsmen never take pressure on themselves but put pressure on the opposition and seem to be in no hurry and make mistakes like others"

"I hope we can restrict their run-flow so that we can put pressure and take wickets"

Shoaib Akhtar :

"This is an inexperienced team but they have shown their abilities by winning and getting to the final"

"Pakistan team has all the talent and abilities to win the Champions Trophy"

"If they fail to take on the responsibility of scoring 300+ on an easy wicket, then questions need to be asked"

"Pakistan has the ability to chase 300+ down but they must not show fear"

"There is nothing to fear of the Indian bowlers as SL's lower order batsmen showed the other day"

"I would suggest dropping Shadab Khan and bring in Mohammad Amir in his place"

The best advice is wasims

Go and enjoy the occasion Dont take any pressure as this team wasnt expected to go past the group stages never mind be in the final

Stay away from media and dont take any unnnecesary advice from outside ex players etc

Try and do the basics right during the match And give your all If they do that whatever happens they ll be winners

Sensible advise from wasim. Players need to do their homework analyzing their opponents' weakness instead of running around social media asking for prayers as if they are in a funeral procession.

Akram advice is golden

Please keep grand pa sheri away from pak team we don't need anymore of his long silly talks , meetings or pep talks he cost us the first game with extra undue pressure not again please...let them relax

I seem remember that this is what he told his troops before the 1999 WC final. Hmm.

You can't relax in such an important match. They should be intense and aggressive.

Before my professional exams, everyone use to tell me, have a good night sleep the night before and I could never sleep more than a couple of hours .

Exactly. By giving these advices they only make it worse.

People didn't expect much against Eng, SA and they performed very well without any pressure. Now suddenly everyone is expecting a wonder, a miracle. It certainly has an effect, but I just hope they remember how they got smashed by India and see it as a revenge. The need to be 100% motivated to push India into making mistakes.

If you'll see an alert Pakistan in the field tomorrow then you'll know which Pakistan has turned out today. Let's keep our fingers crossed!

what did u ever do against india just shut up wasim its easy to give advice when your not in the ground no body needs your advice they are more patriotic and passionate about Pakistan than you ever were.

I wonder what advice misbah and yk would give?

See off the new ball for the first 10 overs, wait for run rate to creep up to 10, and then leave it to the lower order to smash it and chase down the score. MMHS

Kya matlab relax??? bhai you are the underdog, you have get in their face, show aggression, sledge, trash talk, fielders return the ball to the keeper making sure it goes past the batsman's ear. You have to put the fear of God in the opposition. If you sit down and just "relax" then you will be mauled by a team which none of us can deny is superior atleast on paper.

You missed the part of scoring a selfish fifty of 80 balls so that average is not effected.

Pakistan needs to relax, for once they should not look like a team under pressure when playing against India. It has been a long time since Pakistan have beaten India, I think the last time they won was back in 2013 Asia Cup.

I'd prefer playing Fahim Ashraf ahead of Shadab, India will play spin even when half asleep, Ashraf has looked good with the ball and provides that big hitting option towards the end.

YK probably would have asked to play out 50 overs & gradually build momentum. He lost his LO game in last few years, but between 2007 to 2009, he was indeed quite good ODI batsman. I think, he had 5 or 6 ODI hundreds, mostly on chasing situation in that period.

You are spot on for Misbah's case. On top of that, he might be upset with so little experience in the team.

This is a point I made in the Sarfaraz captaincy thread, can anybody with hand on heart say that Misbah-ul Haq the savior of Pakistan would have debuted not one, not two but THREE youngsters in an international tournament?

The 5 years of Misbah + 2 additional years of his China copy were the darkest period in the history of our cricket ever.

Yes sure Wasim, just like you relaxed and enjoyed yourself during the WC 1996 QF in Bangalore. By staying out and keeping your feet up in the pavilion.

Yeah, that was the only time Waseem relaxed, always was soooo very nervous in the finals he ever played!

I think what Wasim meant was that the players should relax before the game, and not during the game.

At least Misbah won't be there for his relaxing 4rpo half century. Then when he loses he would look at my score and my beautiful average I am saviour. :91:
