All this doesn't matter. Irfan is a superb fielder andclearly rates him, as everytime he comes on to bowl Rambo starts going on about his height, 'bounce' etc, although thankfully Rambo has stopped those strange 'Pipe factory' anecdotes.
Seriously though, why drop JK when he was looking great, as if he had finally completed his recovery. He was bowling like the old JK, picking up big wickets and showing great intelligence and accuracy. Brainless on Afridi's part, just like his treatment of Yamin. Hope to see him make the cut In sha Allah as there is still time for squad updates.
Well I agree with you on most parts.
Junaid was unlucky to miss out. When zalmi qualified for playoffs they wanted to give a chance to Hasan Ali. Hasan impressed and also went at just 6 an over so they opted to carry him for next game aswell. This way Junaid missed out.
Junaid impressed me in PSL. I think overall he went under 7.50 per over and got wickets of KP & Gayle at crucial times for Zalmi.
I just have one concern.
When he bowls from his around the wicket to right hand batsman and bowls ful pitched deliveries than whether the flex is under 15 degrees or not ?
The new protocol is very sensitive wrt spinners who just walk in and ball infront of 24 plus cameras and with the player wearing those sensors.
But whether this new protocol is as sensitive for pacers or not I am not sure because fast bowler runs in and bowls. Are the cameras and sensors as effective and as efficient as for spinners ? I don't know.
Al Amin Hossain also looked suspicious but he cleared the testing procedure. If Junaid gets reported than can he clear the test ? I am not sure.
Alot of PP members believe that he will fail the test.
Irfan looked miserable in last odi vs NZ and in first two PSL games and was not even touching 135 kph but than he was dropped for 3,4 games and Wasim Akram worked on his release points as I pointed out that he was releasing the ball to early in his delivery stride. So Irfan had an Eco of 8.82 in first 2,3 matches of PSL but when he came back to playing eleven his speeds improved and he was touching 138 139kph once again and his Eco in his last 2,3 ganes was under 7.50.
Personally I don't rate Irfan much especially now since he does not bowl 145kph now and needs bouncy hard surfaces to be lethal. Let's see whether against India the Adrenalin rush can increase his pace or not. If he can bowl 137kph plus predominantly in Asia cup except for slower bowls than he will be effective but if his seam up deliveries are bowled at under 85 mph than he won't be difficult for opposing teams. PSL proved this point.
Ramiz glorifies him and starts comparing him with Joel Garner too often. What I feel is that Irfan bowled exceptionally well against IND in IND and against SA in SA. His fitness was better than and he was left arm fast than. Now he is sometimes left arm medium fsst and sometimes left arm fast medium. That was his peak and it got over 2 years ago. We over played him unnecessarily hence he got injured frequently. And he did not recover fully from hairline fracture of pelvis and medical panel cleared him and he played couple of domestic games and again felt pain and scans showed fracture did not heal fully so he was out of cricket for 8 months rather than 4 months and this huge lay off resulted in pace dip prematurely.
