He's having a very good QEA Trophy season so far.
 
Wow Salahuddin is really raking em up this season.

Definitely knocking on the door now. I hope Inzi sends him on the next A tour.
 
Was selected a bit too early and for the wrong format by Pakistan (as usual) back in 2011.

Fawad and Salahuddin should have been established players in the Test side by now had they been given the right opportunities at the right time and in the right format.

he is doing good this season, why did he play ODIs in 2011 though? he is clearly a red ball player. He is high in the pecking order when Misbah and YK go

havent seen him bat but his consisitency is amzaing 18 hundred in first class is not a small thing to do.

He will be selected next year for Pakistan if he keeps on preforming like that.

Incredible form in a team that has largely struggled to make runs. He has literally carried a weak NBP's batting in the QEA Trophy tournament.

After 9 years of Fc Cricket and 5 years absence from Pakistan Odi Squad Usman Salahuddin is nearing a Test Debut.

Keep working hard Usman, you are almost there. You're a perfect solution to a geriatric and useless Pakistan middle order. I wish Umar Amin does the same.

Don't hype him too much and not sure how sucessful will Usman be buf he deserves to be in the Squad.
 
Good to see Usman included in the Test training camp.

He had a brilliant season in domestic cricket and deserves a call-up.
 
Whether Usman Salahuddin prospers or fails we cannot predict that, but one thing is for certain this lad is a treat to watch. Very classy batsman. Has that lazy elegance and a Mohd. Yousuf-esque cover drive.
 
the way Inzi is supporting Kamran and Shehzad, I don't think Sallahuddin will get a chance anytime soon, along with other top performers. I'd love to see him in the test side.

He faded away in last few years. Good to see him back. Was very difficult to get him out in one of those cups for Punjab.
 
Now that he's in the squad let's see if he gets a chance in the Caribbean.
 
Third most prolific run scorer among the current crop of batsmen after Fawad and Haris. Here's to hoping all three make the squad some day. Fawad, Haris and Usman in place of Younis, Misbah and Babar respectively. Should also slot in Umar Akmal and Saud Shakeel somewhere.

However he will probably have to wait until the Bangladesh tour, should that commence.

I don't see how he will get a chance on this tour except if babar fails. . Think we have a very settled batting lineup in tests . .azhar, opener 2, babar (needs runs), younis, misbah, asad. . . But considering this is misbahs last tour, he should aim to get on mickeys good side and impress him
 
Dont think he is going to get a game this series , but he will replace misbah in the next series (against srilanka i think).
 
well he's back now and his 1st class record looks very impressive.

I am really curious to see how he does in the Windies.
 
well earned place in national team after impressive show in domestic,,,,,this should be the way to retutrn to international not like shezzy who preferred bpl..
 
very happy for him .test format is ideal for his style of batting also he is perfect replacement for misbah

but unfortunately he won,t get a chance against w.i unless some one get injured

I agree. Usman should replace Babar for the time being. Babar can come in for YK/Misbah later or if the team needs part time offspin.
 
A positive side of this loss is k Usman is a sure shot now in next test. Better long term investment than likes of Shafique.

Wouldn't be surprised if it's the same top 6 in Dubai.
 
I feel he is another Asad Shafiq type player, i am all for giving someone a fair chance but Pakistan needs more dynamic batsmen in test cricket.

He is another batsman with a sub 50 strike rate how good is he remains to be seen.

There is no way Mickey is dropping Shan after his fifty or his favourite boys Babar and Asad. Do not forget that Asad just got this nr 4 position.

The only thing Mickey will change is that that he will add another spinner. Expect Asghar to debut. So that could be the only positive out of that loss.

Time to send out an SOS to Fawad Alam and Usman Salahuddin. This batting lineup badly needs solidity.

I'd go: Azhar, Aslam, Haris, Salahuddin, Fawad, Babar/Shafiq, Sarfraz, Yasir, Amir, H Ali and Abbas/Bashir for the England series.

Forget about Fawad. He will never be selected.
 
Should come in for Babar. Fawad should eventually replace Babar in the squad, and if Asad keeps this form, Umar Akmal or Saud Shakeel should replace him

He is and was always a better test player than an ODI one. There were lesser brain freezes and he averaged quite decently over seas when others failed. Dropping him from tests was the biggest mistake selectors made that eventually affected his ODI exploits

We can only guess until he gets a chance.

At the moment he's just warming the bench and watching the drama of the team dressing room.
 
A hundred at a pretty decent SR today for Usman; surprised to see him playing for a region though.
 
Not looking too good after failure in both innings in the tour game against Australia
 
Please don't play him. Hafeez and Fakhar are far better options. If we play him we will lose this series.

A grinder like Misbah, Younus, Azhar & Fawad.


Not a dynamic player like Saeed, Inzamam, Yousaf.

What has Fakhar achieved for Pakistan A against top 5 Test teams or Top 5 A sides of Aus, Sa, Ind, Uk, Nz to be given Test Cap ? Educate me kindly. Kindly get over CT final.



Hafeez will surely play if coach does not veto his selection in playing eleven. He is coming off a double ton in F.C. cricket while picking up wickets aswell so he would bat at 3 or 4 and would be fifth bowling option.

It's on potential. Usman has none. The worst selection by Pakistan since Rauf and Junaid Zia.

I'm not sure if you were reading the threads here around 15 months ago, but I clearly remember the exact same being said about Fakhar at the time.

Anyway, poor performance in the A game ensures he will most likely be benched for the first Test, at least. Needed to grab the opportunity and stake a claim but he failed miserably.
 
Hasn't grabbed his chances. Had a not-so-memorable debut against England and now a horrible match against Aus. He has Saud Shakeel breathing down on his neck. Both he and Saad need to do much better if they are thinking of having a decent Pakistan test career.

Haris and Saud long-term.

I will give chance to Usman now with Haris. Discarding him after just 1 test match isnt fair when the conditions were difficult for everyone. Although i rate Saud in the same bracket as Haris and Babar and over the likes of Usman and Saad but Usman has scored on very difficult pitches on domestic over the years and Saad in last year.

Sarfraz will obviously prefer Saad Ali here
Sarfraz Micky don’t rate Usman it seems
 
i recently heard inzamam interview with ramiz he said we dont want players who score 100 of 300 balls , strike rate should at least be 60-70 in tests also in modern day cricket referring to Usman Salahuddin who made 125 of 300 odd balls against New Zealand A

But But... its not fair to drop him after 1 test and you need some batsman in test who can grind it out in difficult condition
