Think we wont see him in Pak colours again

Sad but he really hasnt helped himself.
 
Pakistan already has a Wahab Riaz replacement in Hassan Ali. Hitting those 6ers in the last few overs and going at 8-9 RPO. Love his action and pace, too bad he is a bit of a spraygun.
 
Wahab Riaz time I'm afraid has come. There's a reason Pakistan are looking to go with new young faces in the side and Wahab doesn't fit either of those criteria.

Young faces. 🤪 How can you say that when Tabish Khan just got picked for the test squad?

I’m not against Tabish Khan’s selection, I just don’t get how posters can say such things whilst knowing that a 36 year old is about to make his debut.

If Pakistan was looking to go with young faces, they wouldn’t have picked Sohail Khan for the NZ tour.

This is more of a case of having them there for just experience rather than playing XI. Having Waqar Younis as bowling coach isn't a great appointment. Having Tabish Khan and Sohail Khan on the wings who can provide experience and expertise rather than play.

Don't get me wrong, its not good selection and picking bowlers who are in form makes more sense rather than a bowler who had a good season 2-3 seasons ago. Waqar Younis is also another awful appointment knowing his bowling knowledge is zilch from the looks of it.

Wahab > Shaheen, Hassan, Rauf, Hasnain.

This guy gets too much hate, but the fact is he’s currently the most skilled Pakistani bowler. Has to be in the WT20 squad.

And also, no cringe celebrations like the above mentioned players.

Wahab and me are quite similar - we both have a lot of passion to play for Pakistan, we both wont get to play :afridi

Good catch. He is also a good tail end batsman. Wish only if he could know how to bowl.
 
If he’s performing better than those in the current international team, then why should he be over looked? He can bowl, he can bat and he can field better than Jadeja. For me, it’ll be between him and Hassan Ali for getting into the playing xi.

A fast bowler to be diving around taking one handed stunners on multiple occasions, is a better fielder in my book over someone who only needs to run when fielding.
 
He's 36 and still in great shape and just as quick. Seems to have great work ethic. Not many 36 year olds consistently bowl in 140s and remain injury free. Add to that, he seems to be a decent enough captain.

Don't remember anyone other than Brett Lee and maybe Mohammad Sami who were quick after 35 and fit as ever. Lee's pace however had declined quite a bit from his prime.

However, saying that, his limitations remain and so does his old problems there. Still inconsistent and erratic and may never play for Pak again. Amir needs to learn a thing or two from his attitude.

He’s doing better than every bowler picked for the England tour in the T20 squad.

Wahab Riaz - 14 wickets @ 19.2 and sr 13
Haris Rauf - 9 wickets @ 27.7 and sr 18.2
M. Hasnain - 9 wickets @ 32.4 and sr 21.8
Arshad Iqbal - 6 wickets @ 32.2 and sr 22
S. Afridi - 12 wickets @ 19 and sr 16
Hassan Ali - 11 wickets @ 15.5 and sr 15.2

These are all the pace bowlers in the T20 squad that are picked for the England tour. Shahnawaz Dahani is at the top of the list in this years PSL but he wasn’t picked for the T20 squad.

Wahab is second on the list. He’s had a better season than the youngsters who were supposed to replace him
 
Have to give it to Wahab for coming out of his comfort zone and pretty successfully bowling with the new ball. The selectors would have wanted him to work on his limitations and that would have been one thing that was discussed after he was dropped and rather than whining about it like some others, he actually put in the hard yards.

What about runs conceded how you got the stats for that.good stats from wahab thou but I would still not trust him.

Wahab Riaz has never failed to perform in the PSL, but the issue is that he isn't that consistent despite how much experience he has.

I for one believe that he shouldn't have retired from test cricket, because though his stats don't reflect it, he wasn't that bad of a bowler.

In T20s, he's way too inconsistent, because he is yet to identify his own role with the ball.

Is he an enforcer who goes for wickets despite how many runs he might concede? Is he an old-ball specialist? Is he a death overs bowler?

Until he identifies his role himself, he won't be consistent in the format.

Lol, players out of the team are always better than the players selected. The amount of times this spray gun has lost games for Pakistan with his expensive bowling cannot be counted
 
the Watson spell really got to his head and he started thinking he's some once in a life time bowler. Also his behavior and style are absolute cringe.
 
Is Wahab Riaz the only hope for the T20 WC?

Let's be honest our bowling in T20s looks absolutely toothless. I know Wahab leaks runs but his tournament performances are usually reliable. They get the best out of him and ignite his inner passion.

We may hate him, but we need a bowler of his skill and experience for the World Cup. I would take him to the WC over Haris Rauf.

Wahab makes the team over Haris Rauf any day of the week for me.

He's a smart bowler, who can be helped a lot more with good fielding.

He was unfairly dropped from ODIs if I may add, he had a decent WC19.
 
I agree, a fully fit Wahab would be in my T20 XI ahead of Rauf no doubt.

Its amazing though how Wahab has managed to sustain his pace & body fitness. He bowls at the same sort of pace which he used to a decade ago.

Wahab Riaz doesnt play any international and after training others we select him. Haris Rauf isnt that good but I would still take him over Wahab Riaz. Riaz hasnt been part of the team, you cant just use him for ICC tournaments and discard him like that.

Also i tired of these players firing up for matches that they want and do nothing whole year around. No thank you.

I dont like Haris Rauf, but I would still prefer him over Wahab. He is part of the set up and has been with the team. Plus, Wahab Riaz was never a good t20 international bowler
 
He has been performing consistently in t20s for last few years he has the best economy in death overs in t20s.

Now he has improved his new ball skills as well.He should definitely be given a chance.
 
Wahab has done better than Haris, Hasnain and many others in PSL. He has improved significantly with the new ball...still has the pace...still has the yorkers. He's a no-brainer when it comes to selection.

Only downside is that when he is off-color, he can be taken to the cleaners. But he still offers alot more in the merits column than the demerits column.

Training others? Since when did we start picking bowlers to play for Pakistan to train them? Isn’t training meant to be done before you get selected for Pakistan? This is international cricket, Wahab Riaz plays in T20 leagues all around the world with the best players, he has experience, he has more skill than Rauf as a bowler and he can bat too.

Looks like you’d pick player X over player Y even though you know player Y can win you more games but because player X was in the set up he deserves to be in the team regardless of his performances.

At this point I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if Misbah was running this account.🤣

Wahab riaz is not psrt of the internarional set up.

It is unfair to others that a guy who wasnt in the plans gets a head call while the others who have been worming hard get ignored.

This is what mickey arthur did to usman shinwari.

Haris rauf might not be that good but he is still much much better than wahab riaz.

Wahab riaz can do whatever he wants in domestic t20s, his international performance is a joke.

If wahab riaz had the capability to win games he would had been part of the team.

Problem is our awaam forgets the bad perforamnces and think that the flana xyz player will come and give good performances.

Haris rauf has done better than wahab riaz in t20 i.

So if a player isn’t part of the international set up then you can’t pick him? So basically every player who is playing domestic cricket and not for Pakistan should retire because they’re not part of the international set up so they can’t be picked for Pakistan?

If a player is in form and playing consistently in T20 leagues then he should be considered for selection into the national team, it’s as simple as that.

If Haris Rauf or Faheem Ashraf aren’t performing then you can’t just say that it’s unfair to drop them for someone else because they were part of the set up, it doesn’t make sense.

At the end of the day, Pakistan has to win, and if you don’t pick your best players then you’re giving yourself less chances of winning.

If Haris Rauf was performing people wouldn’t be talking about bringing Wahab Riaz back.

You pick new players or ttfs during series. You try them in series and if they perform you than keep them in the world cup plans.

Like how Haris Rauf, Shaheen, Fahaeem have been.

Wahab Riaz hasn't been part of the set up. If he wants to get selected based on domestic t20 performance he could be played in a series but not in the world t20..

Third, Wahab Riaz is not better than Harris Rauf. Harris Rauf is bowling bad but he is still a little better than Wahab Riaz. Wahab Riaz is known for getting hit all around the park at international level.

If people make a case for dropping Harris Rauf for someone else that makes sense, but for Wahab it makes no sense at all.

It makes no sense going back to Wahab Riaz, he is going to get the phainta that he always get.

If Pakistan has a series before world t20, than i would prefer if Dahni or Waseem Jr are given a try. Faheem Ashraf will most likely lose his place depending on what Waseem jr does in the t20 series with NZ.

Rauf has one of the worst economy rates in the world during overs 1-16. On average, he goes at 9+ runs an over. That's enough of a reason to throw him out until he learns to use his brain while bowling. Taking a couple of wickets means very little if you get smashed for 40 in your four overs.

This isn't about fair or unfair. This is about the World Cup. Horses for courses. Selecting a combination of players who are best equipped to win you the World Cup. This isn't about team-building or long-term planning.

And in a final 15 or 16 man squad for the World Cup in UAE, I don't see how you don't include Wahab Riaz and Shoaib Malik. Especially after seeing how the others have done in the last few series. Not selecting them both would be defying common sense and rationality.

I understand, harris sucks, but you dint replace him with wahab wuo is equally as bad. Harris is better than rauf

Malik was doing very well in the T20 team and was one of the key elements in Pakistan's rise to the No.1 T20 ranking until he was dropped for absolutely no reason. If you think he wasn't doing well on the international level than maybe you weren't watching alot of cricket during that time period.

At present Wahab seems like an abundantly better option...despite all his shortcomings.

Does it ever bother you that despite Malik and Wahab playjng for last 15 years, we keep going back to the same players?

Are we this short of talent in Pakistan?

Reality is harsh! Let's learn to swallow it.

Malik and Wahab are still better than many new comers who have been given loads of chances by Misbah

You can complain about inept attitude but cannot complain about lack of consistent chances given to young players yet they all failed miserably
