The National Assembly on Thursday adopted a resolution condemning Sheikh Rashid and Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan for openly cursing the parliament at a rally in Lahore.

On Wednesday, opposition parties, under the leadership of the Pakistan Awami Tehreek, held a gathering on Lahore's Mall Road, kick-starting their campaign for the ouster of the PML-N government.

During the rally, Rashid had repeatedly cursed the parliament and announced his resignation from his National Assembly seat, prompting Khan to consider quitting the assemblies on the grounds that parliament had lost its utility in protecting people’s rights. Khan, voicing his support for Rashid, had also "cursed" the parliament.

Addressing a parliamentary session today, members of the National Assembly criticised the opposition leaders for their anti-parliamentary remarks.

'Parliament alone can save the country'
Speaking during the session, Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Khursheed Shah said that he had felt sorrow when he heard the remarks made by Khan and Rashid against the House.

"We have a scary history," Shah said, recalling that in the past 40 years, the parliament had seen many highs and lows.

"There are politicians who have given unimaginable sacrifices for this parliament. I was 16-years-old when I went to jail for the first time," he said.

Shah said that the parliament is the only institution that could save the country, going on to list the accomplishments of the House.

He said that the parliament had written the Constitution that had given Pakistanis "the right to speak, the right to ask for rights, to strengthen the institutions and distribute power to them".

"This parliament made Pakistan a nuclear power, gave the country missile technology and stole power from dictators to give to the provinces."

"The words that were used against the parliament... I cannot speak about them," Shah said.

"We are set on contempt of institutions," he said, adding that even former prime minister Nawaz Sharif has committed contempt against the institutions. "Imran does the same."

Shah said that numerous cases have been filed against the PPP over the years, but the party has never committed contempt against the institutions.

Yesterday, PPP Chairperson Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari had been quick to distance his party ─ which also participated in the Mall Road rally ─ from Rashid's anti-parliamentary remarks.

The PPP respects the parliament and will always do so, he had said in a tweet. He added, "Cannot help the behaviour of others but will never endorse disrespecting [the] Parliament."

Earlier in the session, Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif had asked that the opposition leaders who had cursed the House be summoned before the National Assembly to explain their remarks.

He had added that if they fail to appear, they should be arrested.

"We will not permit this [language]," Asif had said. "The elections are coming up, everyone has the right to campaign and gather support from voters — but no one has the right to curse."

"This House has never seen such shameful conduct," Asif had added.

"Whatever little respect you have, you have gotten it through your membership in the parliament," Asif had said, addressing Khan and Rashid.

"They (Khan and Rashid) are hurting the sanctity of this institution," he had added.

"If those who derive their strength from the parliament curse it, then all others institutions will lose respect for it. It will no longer be necessary for the other institutions to respect the parliament."

"Those who are members of this House and want to become the prime minister have insulted it," Asif had said.

He had called for action to be taken against Khan and Rashid by the privilege committee before the media.

Earlier today, the PTI Chairman had reiterated his stance regarding the parliament.

"When a Parliament, which must protect [the] nation's interests, passes a person-specific law allowing a disqualified person guilty of Rs3bn money laundering, tax evasion, concealment of assets, forgery and perjury to become head of a [political] party, then such a law is a "laanath" on [parliament]," Khan wrote in a tweet.

He was referring to the Election Bill 2017, which was adopted by the National Assembly in October last year.

The bill featured a controversial amendment that allows politicians disqualified from holding public office to head a political party.

Days after the bill was adopted, former prime minister Nawaz Sharif was re-elected as the head of the ruling PML-N.

Is this the same parliament which voted in favour of having a "Na-Ahal" person chair a political party?

Same parliament where nothing was said of about corruption, same parliament which made a law allowing corrupt people to still lead parties and which was made within three days, specifically for Nawaz while they haven't bothered to do anything about the National Action Plan. I mean you couldn't make this up. :))

"Parliament is the name of a building. It is the parliamentarians who take the parliament forward or destroy it," said Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Thursday, hitting back at criticism over his anti-parliament comments which he made during a protest in Lahore a day before.

He also criticised Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif for his stance in the National Assembly today, saying it was people like him and Nawaz who had destroyed the parliament.

"Give me a precedent of any assembly in the world which makes a law to favour a culprit who steals from the people and lies in the court," said Khan. "What you actually did was make a thief sit on Pakistan's coffers."

He was referring to the Election Bill 2017, which was adopted by the National Assembly in October last year and paved the way for former prime minister Nawaz Sharif to be re-elected as the head of the ruling PML-N.

On Wednesday, opposition parties, under the leadership of the Pakistan Awami Tehreek, had held a gathering on Lahore's Mall Road, kick-starting their campaign for the ouster of the PML-N government.

During the rally, Sheikh Rashid had repeatedly cursed the parliament and announced his resignation from his National Assembly seat, prompting Khan to consider quitting the assemblies on the grounds that parliament had lost its utility in protecting people’s rights. Khan, voicing his support for Rashid, had also "cursed" the parliament.

Addressing Thursday's parliamentary session, members of the National Assembly criticised the opposition leaders for their anti-parliamentary remarks and passed a resolution stating that Khan and Rashid's open cursing of the parliament was akin to "disrespecting the nation".

'Explosive revelations'
Sharifs are involved in money laundering worth Rs1.74 billion through FZE Capital, Hill Metals and other companies in Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Khan alleged in the press conference.

"I want to congratulate my team who have made new revelations," said Khan, accompanied by former PTI general secretary Jahangir Tareen who was disqualified by the Supreme Court last year.

He disclosed that Nawaz Sharif sent approximately Rs800 million to his daughter Maryam Nawaz Sharif, who sent Rs25m back to him.

Around Rs240m were laundered through employees of the Sharif family and Punjab Police via the Hill Metals establishment.

"We are talking about the prime minister of this country who was doing this," he said. "Had this been a civilised nation, he would have been in jail rather than saying asking 'mujhe kyun nikala' (why was I thrown out)?"

Khan alleged that the family was involved in laundering money through a network of 16 companies, including FZE Capital and Hill Metals — the chairman of which is Hussain Nawaz Sharif.

He alleged that transactions through bank accounts of multiple people, who, he said, were drivers and other employees of Nawaz, employees of Sharif Medical City and constables of Punjab police, reveal that the companies were solely created for the purpose of money laundering.

"Money from an Iqbal Anjum who works in Saudi Arabia goes to Aurangzeb Akhtar, constable Punjab police, and Mohammad Iqbal, constable Punjab police."

Further, Rs180m were sent by Sharifs' driver Punnoo Khan to Asim Mehmood who worked at Sharif Educational Complex, Khan alleged. "Saleem, an employee at Jati Umra sends Rs50m again to Asim Mehmood."

Asim Mehmood further sent Rs240m to Nawaz Sharif's employees, Khan said. "It is obvious that this is not going to the drivers but going to the Sharif's themselves."

"How can they catch anyone else when they are themselves like this?" Khan asked.

He also said that this was just one company that he was talking about which was involved in laundering worth Rs1.74 billion.

He also said that Nawaz sent Rs20m to Chaudhry Sugar Mills through his own account which was revealed in the investigation by Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP).

Taking on the Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, he said that Rs3.5bn credit arrives in Ramzan Sugar Mill — owned by Shahbaz — without any explanation.

All of this money had been acquired through corruption in Pakistan and sent abroad. "There cannot be a more open and shut case than this," Khan said, adding that all the details would be sent to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and other organisations for further investigation.

Khan also said that there can be "no bigger fraud" than Asif who was earning Rs1.6m a month while working as a legal consultant, even though he has only worked in banks before.

He also alleged that hundreds of thousands of dollars were going to the United States through Asif's wife.

"As the head of a party, I have the right to tell the judiciary that you are taking too long in taking action on the case although the man [Asif] is a security risk for the country."

To be honest Imran Khan shouldn't use such words, problem is that such words take the focus away from real issue.

In any decent democracy, 3 times Prime Minister must be held accountable for being a liar. His lies about his assets and fake documents that he handed to speaker were most shameless but that is a non issue. What Imran Khan says about such parliament and is much bigger issue than parliament making amendments to accommodate disqualified liar.
This is why i think Imran Khan should not use such words because real issue gets overshadowed and it's done deliberately.

ISLAMABAD: Following in the footsteps of their party head, some Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) lawmakers on Friday repeatedly shouted in the National Assembly the same derogatory words Imran Khan had used with regard to parliament in a recent multi-party opposition protest in Lahore.

In his speech on The Mall, the PTI chief had said he cursed the current parliament that “has violated very basic principles of democracy by voting in support of the corrupt Sharifs”.

“You will not find a similar example in any democracy in the world where parliament endorses that a corrupt person can continue to lead a political party,” the PTI chief had said.

NA passes resolution against Imran Khan, Sheikh Rashid

Condemning these derogatory remarks, the National Assembly on Thursday passed a resolution against Khan and the Awami Muslim League (AML) chief Sheikh Rashid.

The PTI lawmakers, who were denied the floor on Thursday, wanted to speak about the resolution on Friday and repeatedly asked the deputy speaker Murtaza Javed Abbasi, who was conducting proceedings, to give them floor. However, the PTI lawmakers were once again denied permission.

At first, the deputy speaker assured the PTI MNAs that they would be allowed to speak but only upon taking up house business for the day. But the PTI’s Murad Saeed, who was apparently in a hurry, threatened Abbasi that he would point out quorum, if not given floor.

Hearing this warning, the deputy speaker thought it better to abruptly adjourn the sitting till Monday without discussing majority of the agenda items. As he announced the adjournment, the PTI MNAs including Saeed, Engineer Hamidul Haq and Shehryar Afridi stood up and started shouting the word ‘laanat’ again and again.

Later, talking to media outside the parliament house, Murad Saeed said one cannot praise a parliament that enacts person-specific laws aimed to give cover to a proven criminal and money launderer.

“I will say the same word even 100 times for this parliament that tried to amend Khatam-e-Nabuwat law secretly and appeared unable to do any legislation to favour the general public,” infuriated Saeed said.

Sheikh Rasheed announces to step down as MNA, advises Imran Khan to follow suit

He said the PTI lawmakers were deliberately not allowed to respond to the comments made by other parties’ leaders against Imran Khan using the floor of National Assembly.

House constitutes panel to curb child abuse

Earlier, the issue of increasing child abuse and murders was discussed. Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Sheikh Aftab moved a motion in the house under the relevant rules for the constitution of a special committee to review child abuse cases and suggest legal remedies and preventive measures.

The house adopted the motion and constituted a 10-member committee having representation from all political parties and headed by State Interior Minister Talal Chaudhry.

The special committee has been directed to submit its report within 30 days. The house also discussed a calling attention notice regarding increasing incidents of landmine explosions in South Waziristan.

These are old tweets :srt

I just added them here to show how he has been using 'bad words' and 'abusive language' in the past too....

Lanat is a pretty mild word. People who are stealing from the poor nation deserve ma bhen ki galliyan.

I’m not religious, if anything i’m the other way. BUT surely there are enough people on this site, let alone in a Muslim country like Pakistan, who know that the word Lanat is in the Quran and I doubt very much any good Muslim would say that God would use swear words....

I’m sure those more learned than me will explain exactly what the word Lanat means and in what context it is used in in the Quran...
