The Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Najam Sethi is hopeful of more countries agreeing to play international cricket here when he meets Board officials of other nations at the International Cricket Council meeting in Kolkata later this month.

“The ICC meeting will be an important platform for us to talk to other board officials and try to convince them to send teams to Pakistan for bilateral series,” Sethi told the media today.

The ICC meeting in Kolkata from April 22-26 is expected to give final touches to the new Future Tours Program to run from 2019.

Sethi said that after successfully hosting the PSL final and the three T20 series against the West Indies in Karachi, the PCB was in a position to try to convince the other Boards to support Pakistan cricket by sending teams for series.

“The good thing is that Giles Clarke who heads the ICC’s Special Task Force on Pakistan Cricket will also be briefing the ICC Board members on the return of international cricket to Pakistan,” Sethi said.

He said Clarke was happy with the way the PCB had organised the PSL final and T20 series and was confident that a top-five Test team could be convinced to play in Pakistan.

“We have gradually shown the world that international cricket can be played in Pakistan. From last year we now have two venues which can host any team with the required security arrangements, Lahore and Karachi,” Sethi said.

Sethi said Pakistan had involved top security experts approved by the ICC and who were in touch with FICA and other Boards while making security plans for the matches in Lahore and Karachi.

Although Pakistan has hosted lower tier teams like Zimbabwe, Kenya, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka and now West Indies for short limited over series, top sides like India, Australia, England, New Zealand and South Africa and even Bangladesh have refused to tour Pakistan for security concerns.

With two home series lined up against Australia and New Zealand in the UAE later this year, Sethi said slowly and surely the time would come when even top teams will come to Pakistan.

He said the ICC meeting would also be a platform to assess the mood of the Indian Board officials on cricketing bilateral relations with Pakistan, which remain suspended since 2008.

Sources said that given the tension between Pakistan and India, the PCB has already started the process of getting the required visa for Sethi and other PCB officials to travel to Kolkata for the ICC meeting.

These big 5 teams like India, Australia, England, New Zealand, South Africa should be ashamed of themselves. Are they going to now insist that the lives of Minnows are less precious and less risky than the lives of their players and people from their country?

Yes

Not saying that’s the moral position but that’s what it has always been like

Most surprising thing from the OP is that the BCCI have allowed him to the country

From SA, NZ, AUS and ENG, I believe SA are the most likely to send their team with some star players. They have done for the World XI tour and the PSL, so we should aim to have them tour Pakistan for a short series in the next 2 years.

Wrong, bcz so called so top teams value their players life than money that they refuse to tour and first tell Clarke to make England tour Pakistan since he is satisfied and support pcb😉😉

That's what I always figured but I was surprised to see that South Africa deny JP Duminy a NOC to play in the Pakistan leg of the PSL.

The PCB can add a personal touch or two i.e. Sethi getting in touch with the players, their wives, family members in trying to convince them to come to Pakistani, the Current Pakistani players or ex legendary Pakistani players reaching out to Foreign players and trying to convince them to tour but eventually the Pakistani govt has got to be proactive as well, get in touch with the embassies of England, Australia, New Zealand and co and convince them to revise their travel and security advisories.

I honestly can’t see why a full strength Sri Lanka team or Bangladesh can’t visit in the next 12 months. A tri nation series including Afghanistan and another Asian team could also be possible. Equally, I’m sure Ireland could do a short tour. It’s little steps like this that really help bring regular cricket back especially if the pcb can remain professional and diplomatic.

I think pcb should stop making statements about top tier teams. Australia and England have always been reluctant to tour even at the best of times and new Zealand witnessed a bomb blast around 15 years ago right outside their hotel in Karachi so obviously these teams are going to be harder to convince.

If Bangladesh don't tour Pakistan within 18 months then all bilateral ties should be cut. We have played enough of our home series in BD.

As if ur board have great relationship with other boards that u can direct who should tour and when they should tour,
Before preaching others to tour, first ask ur buddy Giles Clarke who is advocating Pakistan is safe ,tell him to convince his own board to tour, 😉😉

J P Duminy was the stand in captain of Islamabad United for the PSL 3 final which was played in Karachi, and Karachi is a city in Pakistan.

Which parallel universe do you live ?

CSA refused to give him clearance, unless he is willing to go under his own risk, meaning board not responsible if anything happens to him,

He has to sign a contract that board is Not responsible if anything happens to him

Did the Big 5 teams ask others to tour Pakistan? NO.

Those teams, depleted or otherwise did on their own.Thats their decision.

Whether other teams tour or not will be their decision.

If X is ready to do something doesnt mean Y will do as well.

When was the last time Pakistan toured BD on a bilateral tour?

BD in last 18months have hosted Aus Eng India. Dont think they will be bothered by PCBs threats.

what happening to the case between bcci and pcb which najam sethi was talking that pcb will getting 400

to 500 million for matches that ind did not playing against pak

In hasina's regime, she is not interested to give a hoot to pcb's threat.

good relations between the two teams are the need of the day.Pak needs busy international schedule and bangladesh need quality teams to compete with.Playing in pakistan and then pak touring bangladesh will help bth causes.Nothing is bad in doing this.
Chest thumping will not help any board.

They have definitely missed cricket that,s why they played srilanka and zimbabway plus afghanistan.
Bangladesh and pakistan both are suffering its not one sided story.
At least we are invited by NZ,ENg and Aus.

Thats not the way to do things.BCB is independent in their decision and good relation with them will help us in future.

I really like know about others opinions about Giles Clarke who is making most noise about Pakistan is safe and others should tour if he is so confident he should let England tour first since he is a big shot in ECB

BD just toured SA. Have toured Aus.

BD is regularly toured by teams. They are not going to be arm twisted by pcb.

AUs played two tests only. They are touring us in UAE as well.BD needs more cricket than pakistan.I said earlier that both are suffering.
How many odi they have played againnst the top 5 teams in last 1 year?

And you took compensation for those home tour in BD. So,as you took MONEY ,that means we visited you.

We got 30% of the take even when it was our home series and toured BD multiple times.

If BD don't tour then they are playing politics with cricket and I hope PCB cut ties.
