What's new

Narcos - new Netflix original series

Theres no doubt that The Wire is the best show of all time. And its not underrated at all. Anyone who sees it loves it. My top 5 are The Wire, Breaking Bad, The Sopranos, The Shield, Game of Thrones in that order. GOT wouldve been number 4 if not for a poor season 5 and a poor start to season 6.
Been hearing too many good things about the wire. I too was one of those guys who thought BB was the greatest ever, but then I saw Sopranos and don't think there is a finer piece of Television series made. Now I think I'm compelled to watch the Wire. Hope I don't go in with high expectations.

What is the Shield all about? Pardon me if I've asked the same q before. I might not remember.

Big shout to better call Saul and Mad men (not everyone's cup of tea).

Mad men is a great show. AMCs second best. Better Call Saul is an extension of BB for me (although they are very different) so I enjoy it almost as much. The Shield is an absolutely brilliant show and the best cop show of all time after The Wire. Its probably the darkest show Ive seen and builds up to the greatest finale in TV show history. The writing and acting is absolutely brilliant with some excellent dark humour and all the characters except 1 or 2 are brilliant. I recently re watched it all in a few days and I loved it. It can get disturbing and difficult to watch later on but it is a show everyone must try. The only problem you might have is with the way it is filmed using a handheld cam (this was done on purpose and I liked it because it was different) and the fact that all episodes are in Standard Definition with the 4:3 aspect ratio (black bars on the sides) unless edited. These are very minor things and wont really affect how much you will enjoy the show. I would say its not for everyone though but if you like it youll be addicted.

EliteCynical Dont look for details about Shield on the internet because its one of those older shows that will easily be spoiled. Its a cop show about a cop and his team who are willing to cross lines and break the rules. As for The Wire I suggest you dont go in with too many expectations because it is a very slow burn and a more realistic show. Just start off thinking you are watching any other show and soon you will be hooked.

Ah ok. Thanks bro. I need something Would give The wire a try.

I think Shield would have to wait for a bit but would eventually get on to it.

On topic, did u get a chance to catch "The Night Of". If it ends as well as it has begun, I bet it would be one of he top shows, albeit limited series. So far looks awesome.

That's really interesting bro. As I said, I'll make it to the shield one day and let you know.

Coming to Mad men/Sopranos - Which one do u think had more phenomenal dream sequences? I though ght Sopranos dream sequences were phenomenal, out of this world, but then I found Drapers dream shots subtle and superbly done as well. Great series both.

Hard to choose that but as a show Sopranos is better. Mad Men is amazing as well though. As for A Night Of, I will definitely watch it after I finish a few more episodes of Stranger Things (Amazing Show). I prioritise mini series since they don't take long to finish. Saw the first 8 episodes of Dexter but I'm taking a break from it didn't enjoy it too much. Might come back to it later and see how I like it then.

What's your beef with Harry potter man? Granted the movies are bit childish and overhyped but the books are really really good.A series for every age group imo contrary to popular belief. You can read them to your grandsons to bed and I'm sure both of you would immensely enjoy it .

That's the generic assessment anyone has of Harry Potter as long as he hasn't picked up the books.

Saw the first episode yesterday thought it was ok,my partner thought it was pretentious with all the naration and stuff and that kinda got me off as well, its BB all over again for me disinterested in it!

The very fact that Pablo Escobar and his friends spent thousand dollars a week to buy rubber bands to maintain currency rolls, intrigued me and made me watch the show. It was pretty decent I thought.

Watch the second episode before giving up on it..

I just started watching the series this week, finished all ten 10 episodes already. I'm excited for the second season. Narcos makes me want to be a cartel and wreck havoc all over the place. I even started wishing that I was him.

Gotta watch the first few episodes, I couldn't help imagine Rajni playing in the role of Pablo, it would have been one hell of a movie.

Surprised they released all the episodes of Season 2 all together lol.

Astagfirula, 3 really naughty scenes in the first three episodes, how are my muslim brothers able to watch this?

Finished it last night and it was decent, as good as the first season imo. Wish it was more accurate.

Watched season 2, quite boring, not as slick and riveting as 1st...

Only thing I want to know is whether Escobar is still a main character?

Apparently the plan is to move onto him and have it be about the cartels

He is still the main character and the whole series is abut him, enough said

thats how netflix works

Netflix TV shows always release all episodes together.

This is weird. Just started watching Netflix originals, watched The Last U and Master Of None by Aziz Ansari. Master of None is actually a white people show. Aziz is white washed and isn't brown as Russel Peters. Okay for white people, you guys probably won't enjoy it.

I have downloaded all the episodes of the following shows to watch in the next week. Yes all of them

Band of brothers
Stranger things
Narcos
Peaky Blinders

I will definitely watch them all in the next week but in what order should I watch them? Can anybody who has seen them rate them accordingly?

All of them are amazing shows but if you want to watch them in order of worst to best then watch :

Peaky Blinders (Amazing show but the other 3 are better)
Stranger things
Narcos
Band of Brothers (Best mini series ever made)

its a funny show

its nice to see a desi actor given a role where being desi is not the main USP of the character

Just finished watching the first series of this.

Brilliant show. Brutal but at the same time very interesting.

Looking forward to the second series now......

Great show. Finished it in 2 days. A bit heavy so I need to watch something light to get off the mood.

Narcos Season 3 trailer is out and it looks awesome.

Saw the whole third season over the eid break (7 episodes day one and 3 on day two).

Was awesome (Y)

I see adverts for Narcos on every video I watch on Youtube, looks interesting but probably not something I'd be able to get into.

Have seen the first 2 episodes so far of the new season, was without subs so didn't really follow what was going on, either way, seems quite average so far, don't think this cali cartel storyline has the same charm as the previous seasons.

Watched 2 episodes of season 3 - absolutely brilliant viewing.

I wasn't sure if I would enjoy it without Escobar in it, but it's fantastic to watch.

Im up to episode 7. It just gets better and better with every episode.

Easily the best organised crime film/tv production of all time.

this was the best season ever.

I read that the raids were actually real. The drill did make contact with his skin in real life. Just shows how corrupt the system was

Finished season 3.

It was exceptional and far better than I expected.

Have been offered another free trial with Netflix :afridi

On my watch list:

Narcos
Defenders

Let me know if there are any other shows I should check out other then the usual names

Sopranos says hi.

Honestly though this was my fav season of all 3, the characters of the Cali cartel really thrived with no Pablo to steal the show. Pacho and Chepe were my favs.

Simply amazing - don't want each episode to end.

Sopranos is too slow and too much into one character for me.

Finished season 3, looking forward to season 4. Cali Cartel was fascinating but also the North Valley Cartel.

Season 3 is some of the best tv I've ever watched. Intense from episode 1. All characters were brilliantly portrayed but salcedo was an especially great surprise

http://variety.com/2017/tv/news/narcos-shot-murdered-location-scout-mexico-1202561257/amp/

Mexican location scout Carlos Muñoz Portal was shot to death in a violent region in central Mexico Monday while scouting for season four of Netflix’s hit show “Narcos.” The seasoned scout, who worked for Stacy Perskie’s Mexico City-based production company Redrum, has a slew of high profile credits to his name, including, “Sicario,” “Spectre,” “Fast & Furious” and “Apocalypto.”

Netflix issued the following statement: “We are aware of the passing of Carlos Muñoz Portal, a well-respected location scout, and send our condolences to his family. The facts surrounding his death are still unknown as authorities continue to investigate.

Several Mexican journalists posted photos along with the news.

Muñoz’s bullet-riddled body and car were found in a remote area near San Bartolo Actopan in the state of Mexico near the borders of Hidalgo state, which is said to have one of the highest murder rates in Mexico. In July, 182 cases of homicide were reported in the densely populated state, a ratio of 12.2 for every 100,000 inhabitants.

According to local reports, authorities have had trouble piecing together the circumstances that led to his killing, given the dearth of witnesses.

Netflix’s season 4 is said to be exploring the origins of Mexico’s infamous Juarez cartel just as season 3 focused on the rise and fall of Colombia’s Cali cartel and heralded the shift of the drug wars to Mexico.

Munoz’s murder raises doubts on whether the production will continue in Mexico or move back to Colombia where it began. Such a decision would imperil hundreds of jobs that the series’ production would have generated in Mexico.

Finished season 3 - sheer brilliance.

Kept me on the edge of my seat throughout the series.

Cannot wait for season 4 which will be about the Mexican drugs gangs.

Season 3 was right on par with the others, favorite character throughout Narcos has been Don Berna, I think the actor they also got to play David in season 3 did a brilliant job.

Btw had to share this :))

Really? I found season 2 pretty averaged compared to season 1 so I was assuming it was more of the same esp with no Pablo

This is the best season of narcos by far.

The first two seasons were all about Escobar, but this season is focused more on story than one character. So thrilling and tense from episode 1 till end

Season 1- 8.5
season 2-8.0
season 3- 9.5

Just finished season 2 . What a great show. !! :bow::bow:

The level of realism and depiction of Colombian life was great. Hopefully they sort out the security issues and shoot season 4 too.
