Nathan Lyon - Performance Watch

I know he is an impact player. But still don't know why some critics call him G. O. A. T when he avgs like 32 that's not even close to great .

He bowls in Aus thats why.

Plus first half of his career he was okayish.

Second half he has been amazing.

Goat is his nickname i believe as opposed to GOAT. Never bothered to find out.

yes he is very good but English batsmen made him look better than he really is, can't believe they had no idea how to play him.

Brilliant brilliant bowler. Will finish his career as one of tests greatest off spinners.

Best Test spinner in the world at the moment ahead of Jadeja.

Not the best of compliment to be better than a spinner who hasn't got 50 wickets out of India. Jadoo is not even a test quality spinner.

He showed his quality once again. England never felt comfortable facing him. The conditions were favorable but he exploited them to perfection.

Lyon has been the best spinner Aussies have had since Shane Warne. I think he can reach 450 wickets by the time he retires.

LMAO.
A bowler who avgs less than 25 in test cricket is not test standard.
What is yasir shah's away avg?
Jadeja has a good record in aus,SA,WI,srilanka and on top of that he is an allrounder.

Lyon's only 32, the way he's been taking wickets the last few years, I can definitely see him joining the 500 club before he retires.

It's not about averages, Yasir Shah is a lot better test spinner than Jadeja. And even Yasir Shah isn't that good.

Lyon is probably the only very good test match spinner these days.

With that wicket this morning, Nathan Lyon has reached 356 test wickets, overtaking Dennis Lillee to become Australia's third all time highest wicket taker in Tests. Is Lyon an ATG of test cricket?

Since from his debut he missed/didn't play only 2 tests it shows how fit he is.

no he isn't better than jadeja at anything really.

Lyon is a quality spinner, yasar shah outside uae is bang average, according to ajmal zafar gohar is the way forward

Lyon's accomplishments are more than other spinners. Taking so many wickets away from Asia can't be ignored.

True. His bounce causes serious issues on flat bouncy wickets. He gets carted in sub continent because the pitches offer low bounce.

Stupid Ashwin needs to learn from Lyon about bowling in Australian pitches .b:smith:

Nathan Lyon feeds a lot off of the Aussie aura - as did Shane Warne. There is always a lot of pressure on batsmen at the other end.

But this should not take away from what he has accomplished. He is underrated because he doesn't have magic balls or flair. But he is not underrated in the Aussie team - where his name will be amongst the first on the team sheet.

Lyon is good but nothing excellent. He was pivotal in costing Australia an Ashes in England. A career average of 32 isn't anything special.

I would rate Ashwin higher overall thanks to his 25+ batting average compared to Lyon's 12.

If you are looking at overall even Moeen Ali is better than Nathan Lyon.

This!

As for him bowling better in Australia, lol, these are his own pitches. If he can't succeed even at home where else will he?

What costing infact he took the wicket of Stokes lbw but umpire didn't gave him out so you put all the blame over him.
Secondly,he was bowling with an injured finger so that's the reason he was ineffective in Ashes.

The 5th day at the Gabba was all set for Lyon to shine - 100th test, 5th day pitch, series on the line and only 3 wickets needed for the 400 milestone. But he flattered to deceive.

He dropped a sitter run-out, that was equal to dropping Ashes.
