Realistically no chance of a game today but lets see

The semi-finals of National T-20 Cup have been postponed today due to the current situation in Rawalpindi. PCB is monitoring the situation and will update on the latest development . (PCB)

Very sad day as this is not the kind of news that needs to go out for Pak cricket.

A really pathetic stuation here in Pakistan thanks to the stupid govt., channels have gone off air and social media [facebook, twitter] also blocked.

Was waiting for the match, it has been postponed due to the situation there.

They have closed YouTube as well. :/ have nothing to do on weekend>

Because of the police operation against a sit-in by a religious party at the interchange between Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Kashmir and Murree, both semi-final games at Rawalpindi stadium on Saturday have been postponed. Amid the crackdown by police against protesters, teams have been confined to their hotels with roads leading to the stadium blocked since early morning.

With the situation is getting worse with each passing hour, the PCB decided to postpone the games for at least one day.

The stadium is situated in a central location in Rawalpindi, Islamabad’s twin city, and the impact of the police operation disrupted life in both cities. As many as 8500 elite police and paramilitary troops in riot gear were taking part in the operation by encircling the area. Protesters resisted fiercely, resulting in major disruptions, and all roads leading from Islamabad to Lahore and Karachi were closed off.

Lahore Whites were scheduled to compete with Faisalabad at noon, while FATA was set to face Lahore Blues at 4 pm. But the stadium management, broadcasting teams, and match officials failed to make the journey to the stadium and were advised to stay back until the situation improved.

“The semi-finals of the National T20 Cup have been postponed today due to the current situation in Rawalpindi,” Shakeel Khan, PCB’s media manager, said in a statement. “PCB is monitoring the situation and will continue to provide updates as the situation develops.”

The National T20 Cup has faced several hindrances this year. Earlier, it had clashed with the ICC World XI’s trip. When it was rescheduled, its dates clashed with the Bangladesh Premier League and the now-postponed Global T20 League in South Africa. Even then, smog in Faisalabad and Multan meant it had to eventually be relocated to Rawalpindi once and for all.

The scheduling of the National T20 Cup created uncertainty on other fronts as well. In August, the board revoked the No-Objection Certificates of 13 players participating in the Caribbean Premier League and the English domestic season, asking them to return home and fulfill national and domestic commitments. However, a few days later, PCB chairman Najam Sethi said the National T20 Cup had been postponed and the players could return to their franchise sides and counties after undergoing fitness tests.

Is the issue across entire PAK, or most of police forces required (to fix this) that PCB can't arrange the QAE tournament in other cities?

Lolz where is Lahore closed save two or three points .We should refrain from spreading rumours without confirming the authenticity of news especially on such forums as a lot of foreigners are also on these forums.Although situation was volatile yesterday but it is better now .

You are totally exaggerating, I can speak for Karachi its normal here.Last night there were some protests in few places mostly main roads but they were cleared out. The MNA is fine, watched him last night. No one was 'butchered'. Don't know the casualties from the dharna.

Public is only suffering due to the govt.s actions, there is total media blackout and social media and video sharing sites like youtube and dailymotion have also been blocked. Only people not involved in this are being screwed by the govt.. Those protesters in Islamabad were sitting in Faizabad a whole area[of around 2 km] was blocked with shipyard containers. People had to walk miles to reach just because of govt.s measures now the rest of the country is being made to suffer also. Their sit-in was'nt a violent one and the whole tournament of National T20 was conducted pretty well with commercial activities going on normally.

The govt. is mishandling the situation and making the rest of the country suffer ruining their weekend and daily chores.

Situation has normalized, and PCB is set to officially announce National T20 Cup new schedule, Semi-Finals. It should've been restarted by today as QEA Super 8 schedule is also affected.

Rofl what has movement in Punjab got to do with National T20 Cup when all the equipment, staff and players near the Pindi stadium.

Some people just want overblow some issues just to vent to out their biases, one can check twitter handlesof people covering National T20 Cup, most of them are close to the stadium incl. PTV's pathetic 1980s equipment . PCB and PTV is footing the bill for players/staff staying in expensive accomodation, the earlier it was arranged the better it would've been for them.

I wouldn't be surprised if the situation was grossly mishandled or whether the unrest was actually at a serious proportion. Either way though the damage has been done.

I now wonder if, not when, we'll see a full tour of Pakistan by a Western country within my lifetime.
