Need help Reviving the old Bat

Got this bat as a present long time ago..its my very first bat.
I need ideas on how to revive it bat, it has a scuff sheet on the front which I presume have to come off so I could sand it properly and oil it again.
FYI: don't wanna give up on the bat as I learned the game with this bat and still could be useful in nets.

the bat looks in OK shape. you can definitely use it after a bit of 'first aid'. i would see if the scuff sheet comes off. if it doesn't then, use a sander (those machines with a sand paper) to sand the scuff sheet off and smooth the face and the edges. give it two coats of oil, and it will be back to its former glory.

after all this, i would tape the bottom part, where its chipped a bit. and lastly, put some shoe goo (or another toe guard) to protect the toe, as this is the only vulnerable part i see.
