Need help with broadband internet connection.

So my router is flashing all the lights (power, dsl etc) properly but i cant open a webpage.

What happens is that after all the lights are on, the connection shows "limited" for about 5 minutes and then becomes normal. The internet still doesnt work though.

When it happened initially , i used to unplug and plug the router back and it seemed to work properly. But since last 3 days it isnt working.

Anyone who knows about this problem? Kindly help.
 
You say the router light are flashing ..Should they not all be solid lights ?

Are you based in the UK ?

As mentioned above you need to call your isp as they will check the line out . It could be just a problem outside with the exchange etc. or they may try another frequency channel by going into their administration login side.
 
Tried switching on and switching off multiple times .. ? ?

That's how every IT/Tech support in India commence their repair :)))
 
On a serious note ,
  • Have you defaulted on any bill payments ?
  • Have you exhausted your usage limits for the week ?
  • If there is a website for the ISP or an app to check your usage/account status, use that from another connection (like hotspoting your mobile internet), and check what happened.
  • Try connecting the router via LAN cable to your PC/Lappy, maybe its a WiFi issue..
 
Get the router replaced and buy a better one from Netgear or D-link.. I had same issue when I first got Airtel they had Beetle routers, I called them few times they came and troubleshot but same issue kept happening intermittently so I purchased a better router myself and its running smooth now..

Doesn't seem like a problem with the router to me

It started working now. i just plugged it out for the 100th time and then plugged it back in. :)) the most desi solution.

But i called the ISP because this keeps happening often. I created the thread to get some quick tips because the ISP takes a long time to fix anything.
