This was the same series which brought Rishabh Pant into limelight. Not that the young keeper and batter was an unknown entity but his brilliant match-winning knock in that second innings of the last and fourth Test at the Gabba increased his fandom overnight

Renowned bollywood director Neeraj Pandey released the trailer of a documentary that narrates the story of India's remarkable win over Australia a Test series in 2020-21. This is the same series when India despite being 0-1 down and having lost many players to injury, scripted history and beat Australia 2-1.

Neeraj released the trailer on across the social media channels and wrote: "When everything was against them, they stood tall and showed the world their true grit, strength and determination. Witness the story of the greatest fightback in the history of test cricket. Bandon Mein Tha Dum - The fight for India’s pride."

This was the same series which brought Rishabh Pant into limelight. Not that the young keeper and batter was an unknown entity but his brilliant match-winning knock in that second innings of the last and fourth Test at the Gabba increased his fandom overnight.

Having said that, the biggest takeaway from that series win was that there was no one hero. Whenever needed, one or the other guy stepped up to take India home. If Hanuma Vihari and R Ashwin battled injuries to take India to a gritty draw in Sydney, newbies like Shardul Thakur, T Natarajan, and Washington Sundar chipped in with big contributions with bat and ball. Then there was Ajinkya Rahane, the captain, who made that lifting 100 at Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). That knock was important in context of what had happened at Adelaide when India were bowled out for a mere 36 in the second innings.

Virat Kohli, the Test captain, had also gone back to be with his wife Anushka Sharma as she was close to giving birth to their daughter Vamika. India did not have their captain and then due to injuries Umesh Yadav, Mohammed Shami and others had already fallen. But even then the team did not lose its spirit and went on to beat a full-strength Australia in their own backyard. Their story will be hugely awaited among the Indian fans.

The greatest Asian Test team of all time. The greatest overseas Test series win by an Asian side.

Looking forward to this.

They should also pay homage to PP threads and posts after the first Test and how the premature celebrations by Pakistani fans blew in their faces. :)))

It was a great achievement against the odds and with lesser known players.

I hope Indian fans enjoy the documentary and take pleasure in reliving the moments that gave them so much pride.

Competitive test series are natural dramas. Hope to see more of same across world

India down under, Ashes in England and England vs India in England are the only three series that are keeping Test cricket alive.

Rest of the Test cricket is rubbish and produced some of the lowest quality of cricket that you can have in international cricket.

Test series between other Asian sides like Pakistan vs Sri Lanka, Pakistan vs Bangladesh, Sri Lanka vs Bangladesh is like watching a club match. Pathetic standard of cricket.

One of India's greatest test win of all-time. The heroes of the series, the likes of Pant, Rahane, Pujara, Siraj, Shardul etc should be rewarded with a special award of recognition for this amazing victory against all odds.

As they say, this series was without a doubt one to remember for the ages :inti

I had huge expectation from Australia-Pakistan test series but was very disappointed with the pitches PCB served. Home team playing for a draw is something fans don't want to see.

Australia is to India what England is to Pakistan. Boogee team.

It's a pity that the Indians could not replicate their Australian success in much tougher batting conditions of South Africa with a full strength team against a weak South African team.

This actually might be worth watching unlike that self-aggrandizing, B.S documentary that the Aussies made to refurbish their image. A doc. in which their biggest achievement after endless motivational speeches was winning an ODI series in India lol

It wasn't full strength. Siraj was injured. Batting carried old washed up players like pujara and kohli. Can't rest on Aussie laurels.

It also was in no way a weak s.african team. No team is weak after home. They had a strong bowling attack. Much better than pakistan. They also drew away to n.z.
Weak lol. Yea right.

Yea because they aren't a quality team at all. Just bogey team. When did pakistan beat England away from home in a test series? Been a while.

Australia is the toughest tour for Asian teams. No one cares about n.z or even s.africa.

Australia and then England.

As mamoon says. They are the best Asian team ever. Funny thing is, India don't even pick their ideal 11 most times lol.

Thanks!

Neeraj Pandey has made some gems. Hope this will live up to the expectations.

Actually "full strength" was the problem. They kep playing Rahane and Pujara.

"4-5 Guys Put Whole Test Series At Risk": Tim Paine On India's 2020-21 Australia Tour

The 2020-21 Border-Gavaskar Trophy is viewed as one of the most memorable Test series as it saw an injury-hit India staging a comeback to defeat Australia in their own backyard. Under the leadership of Ajinkya Rahane, Team India showed remarkable grit and determination to outclass the hosts. The series saw its own fair bit of drama and before the third Test in Sydney, a few of the Indian stars were asked to stay in the hotel after they were seen at a restaurant.

A video had gone viral on social media, in which the likes of Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Rishabh Pant, Prithvi Shaw, and Navdeep Saini were seen at a restaurant after the win in Melbourne.

After staying indoors in their hotel, these players tested negative for COVID-19 and hence were available for the third Test in Sydney.

Speaking about the incident on Voot Select's docu-series 'Bandon Me Tha Dum', former Australia skipper Tim Paine said: "I mean those four or five guys put the whole Test series at risk. For what? For a bowl a Nando's chips or wherever they went, like I just find that pretty selfish to be honest."[/b[

Pacer Pat Cummins also spoke about how some members of the Australian team were annoyed seeing Indian stars allegedly "flouting the rules".

"It did annoy quite a few of the boys, especially the ones who had to spend a Christmas without their families. That was sacrificing quite a bit to be there on the tour to hear that the other team were flouting the rules and not taking it seriously," said Cummins.

Ajinkya Rahane, who had led India in that series after the 1st Test in Adelaide spoke about how Australia played mind games after losing the Melbourne Test, and how the news was completely wrong of Indian stars breaking Covid rules.

"The players who appeared in the pictures were actually waiting for their takeaway order. Due to bad weather, they had to wait inside. The story that appeared in the news was really wrong. The Australian cricket board said that when you will go to Sydney from Melbourne, no one can come out of the hotel and you have to undergo quarantine. The outside world, especially in Sydney, everything was normal. There was no lockdown, everyone was allowed to move around and the players were asked to stay indoors. We knew that Australia have started to play mind games, especially after what happened in Melbourne," said Rahane.

Sore losers are these guys Paine and Cummins. Good of Rahane to put this straight.

Good to see India is going towards the documentary route. Good way to discuss and relive the moments instead of making a film on everything.

Sports documentaries do well in North America, wonder if there is a market in India for this.
