New Zealand (308/4) defeat South Africa (304/6) by 6 wickets to register their spot in the final of Tri-Nation ODI series 2025

They do ask them why they got whitewashed in odis vs pakistan you guys were saying so called south africa will score 400 to 500 runs in odi but they couldn't even get close to pak 300 totals.
Look at this squad and tell me they really really care lol

Rickleton
Beretzkee
Markram
Klaasen
Stubbs
Miller
Mulder
Jansen
Maharaj
Rabada
Shamsi

This could be a solid XI

Day ODI between 2 neutral teams on a weekday and still a reasonably loud roar for KW's hundred

Conway so out of form but looks like he’s set to go too.

I was hoping for Muthusamy to perform but it looks like he won’t be making the final cut. Shamsi has to play.

Bavuma and DeZorzi shouldn’t be in the XI but I feel they will be forced in like Babar and Rizwan are forced into every side

yes maybe for Stubbs but I’m not too sure about it. He’s an equally dangerous player that has been maturing well overall
Breetzke has scored today but his overall domestic record is not that great, especially in List A cricket. But even SA20, he is not that great imo.

Chasing just over 300... who is the anchor in this partnership for NZ? Both players shouldering responsibility. Even the "slower" one has a strike rate of 90+.

When will our "anchors" be forced to take some responsibility?

That’s fine. You just need the guy who’s got the measure of the wickets now. Might as well run with him. He’s clearly a very talented batter. I was telling @mominsaigol this guy is good enough to bang Pakistan for a 150 on a flat deck. He did it against NZ, so I’m sure he will be better than the other option that is DeZorzi who has no feet against spin

Conway (wk)
Ravindra
Kane
Mitchell
Chapman
Phillips
Bracewell
Santner
O’Rourke
Boult
Henry

This should be the XI

Latham and Young need to….off

Conway to keep, Ravindra back in

Get Chapman in too.

They can't afford all of Will Young, KW and Latham in a lineup.

Conway's keeping is really poor though.

But if Latham is batting so badly, they have no choice.

He’s been terrible for a long time. His keeping is very good but you just can’t be carried like this

In this game almost all SA & NZ have scored runs at very good SR (mostly 80+), the strike rotation is also quite good.

Why in last game all 3 main Pakistan batsman (Babar, KG & Rizwan) played so slow? Babar 10(23), KG 18(32), Rizwan 3(11). In ODIs, playing run a ball or at least good strike rotation is a bare minimum requirement, if these guys can't main good SR at Lahore, then where will they? This puts extra pressure on other players and kills the momentum. The mindset needs to change completely

Point this out to Rizwan and he will give some stupid response like “I don’t care what the others are doing blah blah blah”

One thing which i hate most is when their cheerleaders says that "they don't need to prove anything" and talks about ranking. Playing at terrible pace at your home ground is a criminal offence.

NZ should go

Conway
Rachin
KW
Mitchell
Chapman
Phillips
Bracewell
Santner
Matt Henry
Duffy
O'Rourke/Sears/Lockie

Kane Williamson is a way better white ball player than his stats suggest.

We shouldn’t be disregarding him for his low strike rates whenever discussing about his white ball career.

Pakistan will.have to. Improve drastically to achieve anything, ODIs mostly are batters game.in this era, so batsmen better be ready

He always feast on second string bowling attacks .

In ODIs, Pakistan needs batsman who can play long innings of at least 80-100 runs with consistency at run a ball at least, build partnerships. Pakistan batsman takes plenty of time to settle down on the pitch and later they throw their wicket under pressure

Moral victory for Pakistan.

Rizwan needs to do a presser alongside Azhar and state the fact that NZ won because they're keeping the same players and therefore now justifies why Khushdil and also Faheem are assets worth more than gold.

Lahore defo beats Sydney on Food that's for sure. The KFC over here is out of this world, also what on earth happened to McDonald's on main Bolevard? Why is it a KFC now?

Williamson’s 13th ODI century led New Zealand to a six-wicket win over South Africa in the second match of the tri-nation series at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Monday. The win also confirms New Zealand spot in the final of the tournament, scheduled to take place on 14 February at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi.

After being put into bat, South Africa on the back of century by debutant Matthew Breetzke (150, 148, 11x4s, 5x6s) scored 304 for six in their 50 overs. Breetzke was supported by Wiaan Mulder (64, 60b, 5x4s, 1x6) and Jason Smith (41, 51b, 1x4, 2x6s) to help South Africa post over 300.

For New Zealand, Matt Henry and Will ORourke took two wickets apiece.

In turn, a 187-run partnership for the second wicket between Devon Conway (97, 107b, 9x4s, 1x6) and Kane Williamson (133, 113b, 13x4s, 2x6s) helped New Zealand achieved the target in 48.4 overs.

For South Africa, Senuran Muthusamy bagged two wickets for 50 in 8.4 overs.

New Zealand, after winning both matches – opening match against Pakistan (78 runs) and today’s against South Africa qualify for the final. South Africa will now take on hosts Pakistan in the third game of the tri-nation series at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi on Wednesday, 12 February. The first ball of the match will be bowled at 2pm local time. The winner of the match will qualify for the final.

Scores in brief:

New Zealand beat South Africa by six wickets at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore

South Africa 304-6, 50 overs (Matthew Breetzke 150, Wiaan Mulder 64, Jason Smith 41; Matt Henry 2-59, Will ORourke 2-72)

New Zealand 308-4, 48.4 overs (Kane Williamson 133 not out, Devon Conway 97, Glenn Phillips 28 not out; Senuran Muthusamy 2-50)

Player of the match – Kane Williamson (New Zealand)

KW is a wonderful batsman and it shows up all the SR merchants who unfairly criticized Babar.
Williamson doesn't get critised cause he still avg 54 in test cricket with 33 centuries.

Even though they are different formats, if you're good in one format the critiscm is less.

Which format is babar good in on current form?

South Africa Coach Comes On As Substitute Fielder, Cricket World Stunned

In the rarest of the rare incidents on the cricket field, a coach had to come on as a substitute fielder for his side. The bizarre development took place as South Africa took on New Zealand in an ODI tri-series match on Monday. With South Africa severely lacking the desired players, their fielding coach Wandile Gwavu had to come onto the field for some time and fill in for another player. With a major chunk of South African players away due to SA20 commitments, the nation could only name a 12-man squad for the tri-series. Hence the fielding coach had no choice but to act as a substitute fielder for a little while.

Gwavu was spotted on the field in the 37th over of New Zealand's batting. The cameras quickly focussed on the Proteas fielding coach, wondering what had happened. The incident became a huge talking point on social media, with fans debating about the unusual act.

We don't see that happening too often!

For the tri-series in Pakistan, South Africa had to dig deep into their reserves, naming as many as six uncapped players, in a 12-man roster, for the first match of the series. A number of top players, including Heinrich Klaasen and Keshav Maharaj, were away due to SA20 commitments but will now join the team ahead of their clash against Pakistan on Wednesday (February 12).

It isn't the first time that a Proteas coach had to work as a player. In a similar incident from last year South Africa's batting coach JP Duminy came out as a substitute fielder in an ODI match against Ireland as many players of their players were out due to illness.

As for the match, New Zealand won the toss and decided to field against South Africa. Back in the first inning, Kiwi skipper Mitchell Santner's decision looked to go against them, however, New Zealand made a solid comeback in the game with the help of Williamson's unbeaten century which helped the Kiwis clinch a six-wicket win over the Proteas.

Williamson hit an unbeaten knock of 133 in just 113 balls as the Kiwis chased down the target of 305 runs to secure their second successive win of the tri-series. With the knock, Williamson also reached 7000 runs in ODI cricket.
