What's new

New Zealand continue their ODI dominance over Pakistan with 47-run victory to take 1-0 series lead

Non performing fakhar is putting a lot of pressure on batting line up
We can’t even have start of 20 runs now

Hammering. The top order has failed far too often now. Fakhar and Babar have to fire for Pakistan to have any chance. You can't expect the middle/lower orders to bail you out if you are two down inside the first ten overs. Considering the middle/lower order batsmen are not good enough to win you ODI games.

ODI batting problems continue. This is a 220+/- batting line up. Do not expect much from them in this format.

Tbf it was a very good fight from Pakistan after being 3 down.

I think we are improving and I expect us to win a game in this series.

Shaheen, Sarfraz, Imad and Shadab were the bright points.

Please get rid of the horrible Hafeez. Junaid was poor as well.

We can see that, the media can see, question is why can't Mickey Arthur and Selectors see that?

Hafeez was due a bad game along with Babar. Fakhar has been poor for a while and there were no ear marked hitters at the end for the situation 50 needed of 25 deliveries.

Given Pakistan’s rank and status in ODIs this was a very good fight from them. Problem is people expect them to win against top tier teams on regular basis. I remember back in the day if you lost you australia respectfully it was considered a great performance. People nowadays just can’t take defeats no matter what.

Your sarcasm is getting tedious now.

NZ like India aren't ATG 50 overs teams as Windies were in 80's or Aus in 2000's. Pakistan should be able to beat such teams in UAE conditions. The ODI team has been faltering since the CT but there is more than enough potential for them to win series against anyone in the UAE. If Pakistan can bat well, scoring even par NZ will be beaten.

The most disappointing thing is that we didn't even compete in this chase. If it wasn't for Sarfraz and Imad we would have been dismissed for 100 odd. I really hope we make some changes to the batting line up because this current line up isn't working and isn't capable of playing at a modern day pace.

Dropping Imam would be a start. Move Babar to open with Fakhar, and get Saud to bat between Hafeez and Malik. Not convinced with Haris Sohail, but he could also play at that number four slot. The lower-middle order will stay the same since we don't have able replacements.

Sarafaraz and imad's contributions are also misleading, when they had to force the pace they were dismissed

New Zealand are a classy one day side. We were never in the contest after having lost three quick wickets. The middle and top order never get us off to a good start in this format. Simply not a top one day side.

Thats all we have im afraid..no one out there to better this team.
Ask feeju to bat at 6.
And may be bring in faheem for hasan ali?
Thats it!

Well there has to be changes for the next game. This line up isn't the answer for modern day LO cricket. This line up we selected today could get humiliated in South Africa.

The guys who need to go before everyone else are malik and hafeez, since the objective of playing guys who have been around the international circuit for 20 years is that they win you big games or against tough opposition.
Not that I am comparing these two to dhoni, but they debuted at least five to six year before him and really have Achieved nothing of note

2 changes required
M Hafeez out... Harris Sohail in
Hassan Ali/Junaid out.... Faheem in

To be honest with batting averages of senior batsmen lying in 30s especially hafeez and malik and not so great strike rates I don't see this team reaching 300s or 250s even for that matter

Moreover bringing imam as opener and changing the t20 opening pair of babar and fakhar could have also affected the tempo. I feel we need right and left combination as it somehow disturbs bowlers length and helps us to play easily. ( CT17 as an example)

Hafeez T20 performances will haunt us for a while unfortunately.

There is a difference between GOAT and ATG, Windies were GOAT in tests but never in ODIS after 1983 ,Aus btw was GOAT in tests and ODI.

Pakistan has become like a minnow in ODIs. After CT win I thought they have again become a "power house" in ODIs. But now I really agree with my favorite fluke specialist Mamoon that it was a fluke victory

I think hasan ali has to increase his pace . especially in the test format. Besides shaheen, pakistan does not have a proper pace bowler. in tests, there are none. to win in south africa, hasan ali has to take the role of the speedster, he is capable of hitting 140-150,

Get back Sharjeel / shaan / khurram
2 Fakhar
3 babar
4 saud
5 sarfraz
6 malik
7 Amir yameen
8 Shadab
9 shaheen
10 junaid
11 hassan
