NFL: San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick refuses to stand up for the US national anthem

It's human instinct to overlook what your own kind does to you than what the other does to you. White people speak often about islamists killing their people or criminals of other backgrounds yet most white people have been harmed by other white people. BLM is just a natural reaction.

You are right for the bolded part. I totally agree.

However, Black Lives Matter only if the killer is white.

A little off-topic, he looks so middle eastern, I mean he could easily be a Makrani from Pakistan.

If unarmed white people were being gunned down by police officers at the same rate as blacks then BLM as a movement wouldn't exist.

BTW still awaiting reply for post #49.

Black on Black crime doesn't justify police brutality and racism towards Blacks. It's like an abusive teacher saying that people shouldn't be outraged by them abusing their students because the students come from abusive families themselves.

Exactly. Its amazing troodon and the anti-BLM critics cannot understand the difference between ordinary CITIZENS committing crimes and GOVT EMPLOYEES committing crimes.

Police officers work for the state, they are funded through taxpayers money to serve and protect the public INCLUDING African-Americans.

Not all, but SOME US cops are failing miserably at that job hence the protests.

Black Lives Matter vs All Lives Matter Supporters (Social Experiment)
Why Do you think people reacted the way they did?

That man is lucky to be not shot or punched in the face by Black people. They are very aggressive.

Martin Luther King was one of their imp leaders but clearly they have taken the example of Malcom X.

I lived in a area just 2 miles from a ghetto for 3 years. I know how the people there are. You would not see a non-black in those areas. Its a total no go zone for non-blacks especially after 8 PM.
Some folks there can get very aggressive even while begging for money.
I always felt that subcontinent has so many issues caused by religion, caste etc. But thankfully, we do not have this big racial difference.

Makes you wonder sometimes that Multi-cultural and Multi racial societies are a big failure. Black people and white people are poles apart.

The very concept behind "All Lives Matter" is ridiculous because if ALL lives did matter then black people wouldn't be arrested, charged, convicted or incarcerated at higher rates than whites EVEN when they commit the SAME crime.

Take the example of drugs - arrest rates have long been higher for blacks, even though data show that blacks are generally no more likely to use drugs than whites and there's little evidence that they sell drugs more often than whites.

All I ask for these anti-BLM people to show a little EMPATHY and understand what its like to be in other peoples' shoes for once instead of sniping at people from a position of privilege, where you don't have to suffer through the inequities of others so pretend it doesn't exist like troodon does.

A few YT videos to discredit BLM, or playing around with words like "Black Lives Matter/All Lives Matter" is a massive distraction from the real issue of racial inequality and criminal justice reform.

No its not true that has to come from within, social movements can help in this regard, people tend to conform to an identity and self victimization plays a big part in failure of such society.

White supremacy is defn there in many countries but to be fair they have come up with "equal" societies and laws not the brown, yellow or black people.

It defn is a massive distraction but violent reactions cannot be tolerated as that's the way u reduce the support of neutrals.

Definitely agree, all protest should be peaceful as you lose the moral high ground when resorting to violence.

Malcolm X wasn't that bad.

Who is saying he was bad its about taking up role models and non-violent social movements. On a personal note i would had probably indulged in violence if i was discriminated like the blacks are but leaders are supposed to be stronger than an average person.

I agree with Joey. Not only Black Lives Matter. All Lives Matter too.

Caste is racism.

Colin Kaepernick supporters rally for jobless NFL player

Hundreds of protesters have rallied to support Colin Kaepernick, the controversial NFL player who staged protests during the US national anthem.

Kaepernick stirred controversy last year for sitting or kneeling during the anthem, in protest against the treatment of black Americans.

The quarterback has not been signed for any team next season, which begins in early September.

Supporters claim he is being pushed out because of his political action.

But others say his status as a "free agent" is down to his performance on the field.

Kaepernick led the San Francisco 49ers to the 2013 Super Bowl, but his status in the team has declined since, and he lost his starting place last year.

However, NBC sports commentator Bob Costas told CNN: "The idea that Colin Kaepernick can't play for some team, and that he isn't among the 50 or 60 best quarterbacks who could play in the NFL, is ridiculous."

But he added he believed team owners were making their own decisions, rather than following any edict from the NFL.

Kaepernick's protest was hugely divisive across the US last year, taking place after a series of deaths at the hands of armed police.

But critics claimed that Kaepernick's actions were disrespectful to the American flag and to members of the armed forces which defend it. Angry fans posted videos of Kaepernick jerseys burning, and the sportsman said he had received death threats.

The rally took place outside the headquarters of America's National Football League (NFL) in New York City.

Ahead of the demonstration, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) sent a letter to the NFL on the issue, saying team owners were avoiding signing the player because of his protest.

"As the NFL season quickly approaches, Mr Kaepernick has spent an unprecedented amount of time as a free agent, and it is becoming increasingly apparent that this is no sheer coincidence," the NAACP said.

At the rally outside NFL buildings in New York City, several speakers said the issue was more important than securing a contract for Kaepernick, while others called for a boycott of the NFL.

Tamika Mallory, Co-Chair of The Women's March on Washington, said: "Don't let them tell you that we are out here for one man.

"Even Colin Kaepernick will tell you that he didn't just knee for himself or for his family, he kneed for all of us."

On the other side of the road from his supporters, a small handful of counter-protesters had gathered, one of whom waved a sign reading "Colin the Commie".

Many Kaepernick supporters raised their fists in a salute made famous by US sprinter Tommie Smith at the 1968 Olympics.

On Monday night, more than a dozen players from the Cleveland Browns team knelt in prayer before a pre-season game, in imitation of Kaepernick's protest.

One white player who joined the protest, Seth DeValve, told the AFP news agency he had decided to take part after the clashes between white supremacists and counter-protesters in Charlottesville.

DeValve, who is married to an African-American woman, said: "I myself will be raising children that don't look like me, and I want to do my part as well - to do everything I can to raise them in a better environment than we have right now."

Colin Kaepernick: Nike suffers #justburnit backlash over advertising campaign

Critics have burned Nike trainers and clothing in protest at Colin Kaepernick's appointment as the face of the brand's new advertising campaign.

The American football quarterback, 30, protested against racial injustice and police brutality by kneeling during the US national anthem.

In announcing the deal, Nike said he was "one of the most inspirational athletes of this generation".

But opponents took to social media, promising to destroy Nike products.

On Twitter, they hit out at the deal using the hashtag #JustBurnIt - a play on Nike's slogan 'Just Do It' - which trended on Twitter alongside #BoycottNike.

According to social media analysis site Spredfast, there were more than 800 tweets using the hashtag #JustBurnIt in a matter of hours on Tuesday morning.

Andrew H. Scott, the mayor of Kentucky city Coal Run, said he was "officially done" with Nike and the NFL and asked Nike to cancel an order, while several videos showed Nike trainers being burned.

Country singer John Rich tweeted a photo of a pair of Nike socks with the brand's swoosh logo cut off.

However, another Twitter user Teri Shockey countered: "To everyone who is planning to #JustBurnIt, might I suggest you donate your Nike merch instead? Plenty of people in need, including vets and families of active duty military, would be more than grateful to wear it. #JustDoIt"

However, there has been an outpouring of support for ostracised former San Francisco 49ers player Kaepernick, who first protested by sitting during the national anthem in August 2016, later opting to kneel.

Other players followed suit, leading to criticism from President Donald Trump.

Kaepernick, who has received Amnesty International's highest honour, has been without a team since he opted out of his contract with the 49ers in March 2017.

"Colin Kaepernick drew our collective attention to the problem of continued racial injustice in America," said former CIA director John Brennan on Twitter.

"He did so not to disrespect our flag but to give meaning to the words of the preamble of our Constitution-'in order to form a more perfect union.' Well done, Colin, well done."

Nike's new advertising campaign, celebrating the 30th anniversary of its 'Just Do It' slogan, also includes ads featuring tennis star Serena Williams, New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr and Seattle Seahawks rookie linebacker Shaquem Griffin.

Taking the knee after singing the national anthem

I find it funny when Belgium black players sang Belgium's national anthem and followed up with a knee. Most of the Belgian players like Lukaku, Doku, Witsel etc are from Congo, the same country which colonized and carried out all sorts of atrocities against the Congolese people. The same could be said about black players in the England team singing God Save The Queen and the French national team.
