This is true. No one is blaming individual Afghan players, but if their board is taking a hostile stance, PCB either needs clarification and either the ACB will need to ditch their policy or PCB will have to reciprocate with a similar policy for Afghanistan.
But it seems the ACB are happy to let Pakistani players play in their league, so I don't see why we should be any different either. It should be like for like policy.

I am sure as Afghanistan host their home series in India or UAE.
Afghanistan is one of the most overrated minnow sides in world cricket. They have improved but they still have a long way to go. Even after giving Pakistan and India a tough time in the World Cup games they ended up losing all 9 games, most of them badly yet they try claim they are world beaters and “better than Pakistan”.
They are heavily reliant on their spin trio of (Rashid, Nabi and Mujeeb) don’t have a single quality pacer or proper batsman with techniques. They have a few hard hitting batsman who may play a good innings here and there but most of them have a Pathan mentality hence they end up batting like Afridi most of the time. Plus the arrogance of their skipper Gulbadin Naib is out of this world so no wonder they are lacking behind after getting so much cricketing development and support from Pakistan and India over the years.
Even their chairman was making these foolish statements rather than looking at the bitter truth.
Shoaib akhtar gave the perfect reply to these ungrateful jokers who hold Pakistani passports yet won’t admit it and badmouth Pakistan just because their daddy India has hostile relations with Pakistan.
Some of them like Rashid khan were born in Peshawar and if someone can blatantly lie about their age and claim they are 22 instead of 31 they can definitely list nangahar as their birth place on their afghani ID.
Plus no matter how bad Pakistan and India’s relations have been which is nothing compared to Afghanistan. I’ve never seen a more immature and incompetent crowd than headingley during the Pakistan game. They had the audacity to be flying the “free balochistan” flag before the game and were constantly swearing and fighting with the Pakistani fans.
Should’ve seen the sore losers after the game when they ran onto the field throwing tantrums like 8 years holding onto Wahab and Imad till security pulled them back. I’m all for full members helping associate sides develop but Afghanistan don’t deserve it if this is how they react with a country that has helped them for so long whether it was politically or cricket.
It’s better if Pakistan play with teams like Bangladesh, Ireland and Zimbabwe if they want to help weaker teams or even Sri Lanka and West Indies who are declining in the longer formats.

I hope there will be adequate security at the venue because often such matches result in brawl between the two group of fans. Last time many Pakistan fans were beaten up by Afghans in England. They really hate Pakistan with passion. Even Indians get along quite well with Pakistanis than Afghans.

Aghans and to a lesser extent Bangladeshi fans need to learn a bit at being responsible and respectable.
I don't care if this offends anyone but sometimes their fans are an absolute nuisance.
Like i said, no rivalry in history of sports runs as deep and is intense as India vs Pakistan but luckily the fans and even the teams get on so well with each other.
Got to play hard on the field but treat it as a sport only.

I can understand why Pakistan plays Zimbabwe but I don’t know why it should play Afghanistan.
No regard for families or those trying to just watch a game of cricket. What was amazing was that many of the trouble-makers weren't young lads, they were mature men.
Many without tickets, many drunk and many high. Disgraceful and embarrassing scenes at Headingley.

I can tell this series has got right up your nose lol.
But Misbah is seeking a contract extension.
I think we also need to take a step back and realise we are a mature cricket nation compared to Afghans who have mouthed off profusely.
But it seems to me the players from both teams are generally friendly towards one another owing partly to the PSL.
Not just that but each of those Afghani players have probably got Pakistani ID cards and all from a Peshawar background. We gave them a place to play domestic cricket when they had no facilities of their own, don't be slapping the hands of the people that raised you and backed you when nobody else did.

Agreed. I highly doubt any Afghan actually sees the world through the Black&White lens that AFG cricket board seem to have on (at least from my experience).
I'm quite surprised how the statement passed through the entire ACB hierarchy. Seems like a statement that an Intern still wet behind the ears would come up with. I guess that's more of a reflection of ACB than us. Pakistan should play its part in developing AFG cricket because ultimately, we are neighbours/brothers, and we must grow out of these trivial skirmishes to be mutually beneficial.

Just because Afghanistan has spewed vitriol against us in the past doesn't mean we should stoop to their level. Cricket should be left completely free of politics and any such nonsense. People watch cricket to escape the misery in life, rather than be constantly reminded of it. And once you start doing things like this, it sets a dangerous precedent and kickstarts a vicious circle that is repeated by both sides.

Just because someone said something about you doesn't automatically make it true. And by that approximation we should/should have boycotted relations with all the other countries that accused us of terrorism. Heck by that approximation we shouldn't play any cricket with India at all.
So no offence but it seems to me that you are advocating bullying ACB, less for principles, and more because we can. Which is something right out of the BCCI's playbook.
And we can play this game all day long but the simple fact is that it will benefit no one. Taking the high-road is what distinguishes the good people, from the truly vindictive and detestable ones. Forget about "this fake world of brotherhood" you think we are living in and think about the teachings of Islam, or any religion for that matter. Playing this game just isn't worth it. Please lets not play these Afghans. Other teams hardly play them where as we are always so desperate to play anyone. Next we will be begging the UAE to play is in a five test series. We are only embarrassing and belittling ourselves here by playing a so called country whose players learnt how to play in our refugee camps. I find it very humiliating.
100% agreed. A lot of Pakistanis have this weird obsession with brotherhood which is never reciprocated and only results in the country/cricket board and the team losing its self respect. There are times when one needs to stand up for one's self and ensure that not every Tom Dick and Harry can malign them and get away with it scott-free.

Pakistan has no self-respect unlike India and Afghanistan. Pakistan stands to gain nothing from this tour. Earlier today the Vice President the Afghan Vice President insulted Pakistanis unprovoked and a few months earlier the Afghan NSA said Pakistanis were prostitutes or something along those lines, well clearly we're proving his point - we're holding a series with them in spite of everything going on just to make some money, get some rating points and improve Misbah's abysmal record.

Afg has been a war torn area for over 30 years and there is still a power struggle/riot going inside the country. The geopolitical situation of the land is very scary as well being honest. Don't know if their government is to be trusted or not or whether their players hold the same views about Pakistan as their board who is pretty obviously their government appointed organization. Don't have any thing against their players unless they are vocally anti Pakistan. But their cricket board is a poorly run organization surrounded by clouds of uncertainty about it's future.

If they want to play a series, the PCB should have demanded an official apology from the Afghan officials after they literally accused Pakistan of supporting terrorism and refused to play us in the past.
The PCB and all of their big names (Mani, Wasim and Misbah) should just hang their heads in shame.

Of course Pakistan has something to gain. One has to understand that a certain neighbour is pumping a lot of money into driving a wedge between Pakistan and the other two major Muslim cricket nations so we will continue to hear sponsored statements from unrepresentative govt leaders against Pakistan.
What is the alternative? Just cut ourselves off from the rest of the cricket world and let the BCCI plan come to fruition?

It's not an obsession. It's the reality. Pakistan gains no benefit by harbouring ill-feeling toward its neighbours over trivial matters and minor hiccups (which in the grand scheme of things, the ACB is).
If you're averse to looking at it from the 'brotherhood lens, try looking at it the pragmatic way. Pakistan and Afghanistan are neighbours. Neither is going anywhere (hopefully). We will have to play each other eventually. Why not make the first move, transcend the petty back and forth, engage like a mature cricketing board and set an example? By accepting their invitation rather than rejecting on the basis of that statement following the Kabul attack, we don't offer ACB any unnecessary leverage to pivot their dislike on.
There are political inconveniences at play at the moment and PCB has a role to play in calming the tensions on both sides. Anything less, and it would not be befitting a responsible and nuanced organization.
These Afghans as opposed to I being a Pakistani sounds fine to me. I said nothing about politics here at all, you are bringing politics in to the debate. What I am saying is that playing Afghanistan does not help improve our Cricket in any way. We need to be playing top class sides instead of poor teams.

Firstly, we are not a petty nation and should not allow sports and politics to mix.
Secondly, we were the nation that played most with Sri Lanka in the 80's when they were minnows and then again with Bangladesh. We should do absolutely the same with Afghanistan. There are already too few nations that play top level cricket where there is real competition, by playing regularly with teams like Afghanistan we are only improving the pool.
If, by playing them regularly, Afghanistan become a stronger force in cricket then that is good for the game.
So what if the their puppet government or cricket board made statements. If we all took the low road nothing would ever be achieved. Governments and heads of cricket boards come and go but the cricket team will still be there and we must rise above pettiness.
