"No major difference between us (myself and M Arthur), we're both on the same page" : Sarfaraz Ahmed

Pakistan's 12-man squad for the 2nd Test against Australia: Mohammad Hafeez, Fakhar Zaman, Azhar Ali, Haris Sohail, Asad Shafiq, Babar Azam, Sarfaraz Ahmed, Bilal Asif, Shadab Khan, Yasir Shah, Mir Hamza, Mohammad Abbas

Sarfaraz Ahmed at a press conference:

"I am really confident for this Test match and I'm proud of my team for the first Test match, we performed really well for 4.5 days."

"The pitch looks green right now with a bit of moisture. But tomorrow it will be different, similar to Dubai"

"All the bowlers like Starc, Siddle and Lyon bowled well so we had to target one bowler which was Holland"

"We have no fear (about losing the series), we played good cricket in the last match though we couldn't win but the morale is high. The batsmen scored, bowlers got wickets so I think we have an opportunity here to win the match and series"

"In the Sri Lanka series, we couldn't make big runs which was costly. In the first match here we were very close to a win. The team has momentum, Abbas and Bilal bowled well"

"The umpires call has become very important in reviews. You have only 15 seconds to review and sometimes the bowler or keeper misses the ball. If the bowler can see it's pitched in line and is confident then you can take the review but you have to observe very closely. We are working on it and trying to improve our decision making. For example we took a review against Mitchell Marsh which we though was adjacent but there was a big edge on it"

"There's so much talk in the media (about the Abbas and Wahab decision). There's no major difference between us (myself and Mickey Arthur). We are both on the same page. We are all focused on the upcoming match. What happened has happened, it was a team decision and a collective one, not any single person's decision. I think we should end the matter here and move on"

"We are under no pressure, OK we didn't win the match but we played good cricket"

"I am concentrating a lot on my batting, whenever I get a chance to play a big innings for the team, I will try my best"

"You should have a batsman in the Test team who can play fast specially in Dubai. As for run-rate, in the previous match we made almost 200 runs in the first two sessions but we had to rebuild in the third session after losing a couple of wickets"

"My temperament has been the same as when I started captaincy. Sometimes if I don't speak they say I am quiet, other times people say I am talking too much. I do understand I need to work on my batting and I am working on it"

It's appalling to see them get the team combination wrong every time considering both of them are on the same page.

That's bull

Azhar came in at 200/1 and blasted a breathtaking 18(80).

Apparently the PCB has demanded an explanation from Mickey Arthur for his statements in his previous interview.

dodgy media report! I wouldnt trust that.

Isn't this worrying that they get the combination and tactics wrong when they're on the same page?

They are on same page of different books

I was gonna write something with "the last dice roll" for Sarfraz and the 2nd test and if they lose he could get the boot. But reading this gave me the vibe that he won't get the boot anytime soon. We don't even have a VC, so who's gonna replace him?

There's a fine line between taking suggestions from his teammates and having too many cooks in the kitchen. The buck stops with him and Mickey and he should own up to those decisions.

A doctor can take suggestions from his/her nurse but if it backfires then he has to take ownership of the decision.
