Noman Ali and Asif Afridi: Their stories deserve recognition not ridicule

In an era where many players chase easy money through T20 leagues, Noman Ali and Asif Afridi chose the harder path. Grinding in domestic cricket for over 15 years before finally earning their national debuts, at an age when most would’ve given up. Noman has already won many matches for Pakistan, yet remains in the C category. While Asif Afridi has a 5fer on his debut. Sadly, their age often becomes a punchline for some fans instead of a symbol of perseverance. Both proved their critics wrong through sheer hard work and consistency. It’s time cricket fans acknowledge their struggles and respect their journeys. They should be judged on performance and not on their age.

Not sure about asif afridi yet as hes a debutant.

But Noman Ali 100%. The system that introduced him extremely late is unjust and unfair.

Bit back to Asif, credit for grinding it out that long. No one should have wait 15
years for a call up.

The only reason why Asif is playing is because of t20, or else he would had never gotten this chance. He isnt really the best spinner in the country.

Usman khalid, same kind of bowler at same age has more wickets and done better. But due not playing t20 regularly didnt get a chance.

He is now a Test player, part of an elite. Fewer than 4,000 have played Tests in the history of the game.

It’s also a significant accomplishment for anyone to pick a fifer, far less your first Test, far less when you’re 38*.

But I can’t help thinking that he’s ripe for myth making, that’s so typical for Pakistanis. Oh we have so much tailunt, oh he was unfairly treated, oh he could have been the next Herath, Bedi, Jadeja, Shakib.

He has created a big problem & part of it is the poor decision making to, like taking the new ball with just 1 pacer who’s run into the ground, without a pace bowling A/R, the bowlers don’t get the rest they need and their spells are nulified.

Secondly, Abrar has had some success in Tests and it’s a shame we’re not allowing him to learn under the wing of Noman & Sajid, if we’re playing a third spinner in favourable conditions, it’s not that big a risk to give Abrar a go.

However, if you’re playing a third spinner and also want to take advantage of the new ball, you can’t pick just one pace option, you need a pace bowling A/R.

Rabada is fresh as a daisy because Jansen is there to help and he can unleash tomorrow morning as well. This meant he only bowled 18 overs compared to the 26 overs which Shaheen had to burden.

SA still retain 3 spin options and their balance is much better for this Test compared to Pak.

Pakistan could have played Saim ayub to get 10 good overs per day they rather played Abdullah who is a duck farmer with pathetic fielding and no bowling skills

Having two 38 year olds and a 30 year old as spinners with no youngster added is a ridiculous decision. The wicket is a spinners wicket, and it would had been better having a young spinner in their to learn and develop.
