Noor Jehan. I'm not being biased, I always found Lata's voice too wobbly and high pitched, but that might have been because she was old.

Now I was never a Noor Jehan fan, although she was probably representative of Punjab where most of my family are still based. They love her over there, a bit too rough and ready for me. But she had some real soul in that voice, I would describe her as Pakistan's Aretha Franklin.

I hated her through out my childhood too
Yep, some of the songs leave a great impression on your soul Ae rah-e-haq k shaheedo , Zulam rahay aur aman bhi ho, mujh sa pehli si muhabbat are some of those.

Lata has a huge following in Pakistan, I am not so sure about Noor Jehan's following in India. Both are great and legends.
