Northern [152/5] defeat MCC [147/7] by 9 runs to win T20 game at Aitchison College, Lahore

Zeeshan Malik is all hype, was given a chance in emerging Asia cup 2018 and flopped there as well. Recently played a practise match against Pakistan test team playing 11 and didn't do much there as well

Exactly!!! Apart from 3-4 all our young players (batsmen) are garbage.

My gut feel is that we are spending resources on the wrong wicket keeper batsman from the youth ranks. Muhammad Haris looks more promising, confident in his ability, and even more dynamic but we are spending all our energy on Rohail.

I never rated Zeeshan Malik we hype every Tom Dick and Harry as we are desperate for some batters which is a fact. I am not bother about 20 20 trash but we do need batters in other form of game cant rely on Babar..

Which youngsters are you talking about apart from Babar and to some extent Imam(who is abused all the time by some here)?

The much hyped Saud Shakeel has done nothing exceptional in all A tours he has played. Rohail looks like a tail ender against spinners. PCB needs to wake up

Northern 152/5 (20)
MCC 29/0 (3.2)

Michael Burgess 8*
Arron Lilley 12*

Sohail Tanvir 2-0-17-0
Munir Riaz 1-0-5-0

MCC need 124 runs to win

Muhammad Haris, Haider Ali, Qasim and may be Huraira. If PCB is smart they would invest these 4 players.

Exactly!!!! We need aggressive and game changer like Haris. Rohail's batting has no impact. But Haris should play in top 4 and need to learn to preserve the wicket. But unfortunately PCB is not that smart to identify talent.

A quick-fire 64 from Ali Imran and two wickets apiece from Mubasir Khan and Munir Riaz helped Northern to a nine-run win over Marylebone Cricket Club at Aitchison College Ground, Lahore on Monday.

After being put into bat, Northern, the domestic T20 champions, scored 152 for five in 20 overs.

Opening batsman Ali top-scored with a 43-ball 64, laced with eight fours and two sixes. Sarmad Bhatti, the second highest run-getter in Northern’s innings, contributed 25 off 21 balls, hitting two sixes.

Ravi Bopara was the pick of the bowlers for MCC taking three wickets for 14 runs in four overs.

In their reply, the MCC continued to lose wickets and were 74 for fours at one stage.

Samit Patel and Ross Whiteley put a 40-run partnership for the fifth-wicket, but it went in vain as MCC were restricted to 143 for seven in 20 overs.

Samit, the right-handed batsman, top-scored with an unbeaten 39 off 35 balls, hitting one four and two sixes, while Whiteley chipped in with a 18-ball 21.

For Northern, Mubasir Khan and Munir Riaz grabbed two wickets apiece for 24 and 21, respectively.

The MCC will play their last match on the tour against Multan Sultans, one of the six franchises of HBL PSL, in a 20-over contest at the Aitchison College Ground on Wednesday.

Scores in brief

Northern 152-5, 20 overs (Ali Imran 64, Sarmad Bhatti 25; Ravi Bopara 3-14)

Marylebone Cricket Club 143-7, 20 overs (Samit Patel 39 not out, Ross Whiteley 21; Mubasir Khan 2-24, Munir Riaz 2-21)

Result: Northern won by nine runs

And what about the 780 runs he scored in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy?

He played a grand total of 2 matches in the Emerging Asia Cup.

There is a middle ground, no need to hype players to the moon, and also no need to pass judgments on them after two failures.

Pakistan backing the wrong player, it should be Harris from U19 team not Rohail whose technique seems to be iffy at best!

That pretty much embodies a good chunk of folks on this forum :wahab2 Watch, Zeeshan scores a hundred and then all of a sudden the thread title is: "Is Zeeshan the opener for Pakistan in all formats?" or something like that.
