haha and they are actually indians lol

some of the kitply, fevicol, manickchand cups we played in the 90s gave have value than this CT. What a poor tournament

More than half a dozen batsmen play cover drive better than Babar. Rachin is a case in point. Yet they hype this BBar cover drive.
Even if He does , it does not matter. He is a disappointment , if he is best in his country , he should have more hunger in him to achieve better. He has not made much impact , he should seriously take off for six months , and work on his spin batting.

It didn't. You are saying this because Indian fans at that time had not been accustomed to winning and found solace in the few victories they achieved. Indian fans need to stop gorging the mediocrity of that era just for the sake of nostalgia.

When you don't have anything else to be proud of, people tend to cling on to trivial things. It is desperation. Babar as a batsman was promising in the initial years. Whether he evolved or not is what he needs to introspect.

Awful tournament for brother @sweep_shot so far.

1. India got their way in and dragged Pak & BD to Dubai to play in hybrid format

2. Humiliated both BD & Pak in back to back matches.

3. Ensured the home team gets eliminated in 1st 4 days of the tournament itself.

4. Now an Indian Rachin Ravindra beating and eliminating Bangladesh in Rawalpindi

But its okay, time has come to start worshipping the rear side of white Australian masters.

@Devadwal

:kp

Bye bye ban and by extension bye bye Pak. Both teams need to do some soul searching and wholesale changes.

Reasons for the below teams getting knocked out

Pakistan team- decent captain, poor selections, injuries and out of form batsmen

Afghanistan team- decent team but out of place in these conditons.

England team- excellent team but no bowling plan

Bangladesh team- playing like Bangladesh team.

Rizwan is not a white ball player , he is too slow for that.
England lack proper spin bowling hitters. They over attack too much

Had Bangladesh ever made it past the round robin stage of any ICC event except for the Asia cup? And also which Asia cup events have them progressed past the round robin?

Out of this only England has under achieved. Others played upto the expectations. 9 out of 10 times the result won't change.

Rizwan is not the culprit for Pakistan’s poor performance. As a captain yes he has accountability but I don’t see any issues as a captain. It will be foolish to change him now. I really mean that.

They almost had a shot at qualifying in semis last WT20. Remember Gulbadin drama.

However yes they seem to have 0 will to win or ambition: they have some decent talent.

No. They didn't show intent to chase 118 in 13.1 overs. They were just trying to get 2 points which would have eliminated Afg and ensured Aus get into the SF.

Btw they did reach semifinals of 2017 CT though that was due to rain

Thankfully and hopefully with the political issues, BCCI will stop propping up this Bangladesh team, khali-fokat every tournament we will see these boring one sided games we already know the result.

Congratulations Pakistan and Bangladesh for becoming the first two teams to get eliminated from Champions trophy 🏆.. special thanks to pak for being a good host not giving any trouble to their guests and graciously paving way for other teams to compete for the trophy..Athithi devo bhava🙏

What do you think about batting at a SR of 50 in ODI while occupying number 4 position?
Poor knock yesterday. However I see a match winning knock chasing 350+, a below 10 score result of an outstanding catch and 1 poor knock which would have look d different had he survived. I am not defending Rizwan for the sake of it. However if you list out 20 issues in Pak team, Rizwan will be no.23

What do you want them to do? Be like the guy below? :inti

Passion is there. It is a skills issue. Batting needs a serious revamp. Bowling is okay.
I’m not asking them to do naagin dance but play , they do so much nonsense other than playing just like their fans.

Bangladesh should had at least won one game , they don’t even try.

Pakistan vs BD will be the most useless game of the tournament.

Lanka would be kicking themselves for not qualifying!

Westindies power hitting on these tracks would have been amazing. SL too have exciting cricketers. Waste of slot by Bangladesh team.

Sure.

I have also seen his knocks.

But mostly against C grade bowlers.

The point is, if you cant perform in tournaments for 700 plus days, it should signal time up.

But you know what, I will give you 2027 WC also.

He will fail in batting just like he did here.

Rachin Ravindra departs after century but New Zealand remain in control of the chase

Bangladesh lock horns with New Zealand to potentially decide who makes it out of Group A in the Champions Trophy.

Rachin Ravindra took full control of the chase, slamming his fourth ODI century as New Zealand look set to land a semi-final spot at the Champions Trophy 2025. The left-hand batter reached the milestone off his 95th delivery.

Just when the left-hander looked set to convert it into an even bigger score, Rishad Hossain stepped in for Bangladesh to have the batter caught after a 112-run knock.

Post that, Tom Latham went on to grab a half-century for himself to make a bigger impact in the Champions Trophy, foloowing a thumping century against Pakistan in the tournament opener.

New Zealand hit another bump after a briliant throw from Mahmud Ullah had Tom Latham short of his crease while attempting a quick single. He made a smooth-sail 55 off 76 deliveries that anchored the chase alongside Rachin Ravindra after the duo took over from 72/3.

Devon Conway and Rachin Ravindra then proceeded to steady the ship for the Black Caps, combining to counter-attack the Bangladesh bowlers and forging a steady fifty-run partnership.

Just as Conway kept going, an inside-edge onto the stumps did the trick for Mustafizur Rahman as the left-hand batter's 30-run knock came to a halt.

Ravindra kept going, notching up his fifth half-century in ODI cricket off his 50th ball at the crease.

Tom Latham also stepped in with a crucial knock, stitching together a whirlwind partnership for the fourth wicket as New Zealand looked for redemption from their unexpected start.

Taskin Ahmed got Bangladesh off to the perfect start as he rattled Will Young's stumps off the final delivery of the first over for a duck.

It was Kane Williamson's turn to depart next as he chased one from Nahid Rana outside off stump, only for it to take a nick and fall in the safe hands of Mushfiqur Rahim.

Ravindra went on to complete 1000 runs in ODI cricket in his 26th innings - fifth fastest for the Black Caps.

Jaker Ali stepped in with a crucial knock towards the end as he took Bangladesh past the 200-run mark.

The batter was run out in the penultimate over of the game, having notched up 45 off 55 that helped Bangladesh inch towards a decent total.

At the end of the 50 overs, Bangladesh posted 236/9, leaving New Zealand needing 237 to grab their semi-final spot alongside India.

Skipper Najmul continued to hold the fort for Bangladesh, alongside Jaker Ali as the pair steadied the ship for Bangladesh after losing a flurry of wickets.

But the skipper's stay at the crease was ended, courtesy of a brilliant running catch from Michael Bracewell, who put an end to his 110-ball 77-run knock that guided Bangladesh from the front.

Rishad Hossain, who struck 26 off 25 balls and looked set to take Bangladesh to a competitive score fell next, courtesy another simple catch for Santner off Matt Henry.

New Zealand's brilliant catching prowess was once again on display as Williamson latched onto another superb grab to get rid of Tawhid Hridoy, giving Bracewel his second of the game.

Following which, Rachin Ravindra caught another one to scalp Mushfiqur Rahim's wicket in Bracewell's very next over.

Mahmuddulah was the next atter to fall prey to New Zealand's brilliance on the field, as O'Rourke's safe hands landed Bracewell's fourth of the game in the form of Mahmud Ullah.

Skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto kept going, notching up his 10th ODI half-century to keep Bangladesh's scorecard ticking from one end.

Tanzid Hasan and Najmul Shanto took Bangladesh off to a strong start, rotating the strike and punching the good balls to the boundary.

Just when the Bangladesh openers looked set to complete a 50-run stand, Michel Bracewell made an impact off his very second ball of the game to send Tanzid Hasan (24) back to the dugout in the ninth over, with Kane Williamson grabbing a neat one.

Will O'Rourke gave New Zealand's second breakthrough of the game, dismissing Mehidy Hasan, who had smashed two glorious boundaries in his short stay at the crease as skipper Mitchell Santner displayed his safe hands this time at mid-on.

Update from the toss: Mitchell Santner won the toss and New Zealand will bowl first.

New Zealand bring in Kyle Jamieson for Nathan Smith, and Rachin Ravindra is back in the side, in place of an unwell Dayl Mitchell.

Bangladesh make two changes as well as Mahmud Ullah returns to the side, while Nahid Rana is all set to make his first Champions Trophy appearance as well. Soumya Sarkar and Tanzid Shakib miss out for them.

Guess this is what happens when you end up supporting Aussieland, the Kiwis take it personally. Pakistan and Bangladesh need to find better heroes.

No worries, we'll take the revenge for you guys

NZ are strong favorites. Momentum is with them. Also they are the more versatile team that can handle any conditions. SA is good enough. But they have longish tail. Collapse is not an option for them. Australia depends on toss. England has a very weak pace unit. Few washed up oldies in the batting line up

I expect Aussies to win this CT despite being heavily depleted.

:inti

Must say this CT has been supremely a borefest so far- all predictable, one sided games.
Ya.. But kinda expected this Only one match went the opposite way. I thought England will win convincingly. But Australia ended up winning convincingly. Apart from that twist every other match went according to the script.
