Move Umar up the order or get Sharjeel in. I would've liked Nauman but he hasn't scored yet so no chance of convincing the selectors.

That is my view as well. He plays straight enough, just doesn't have the batting smarts of a Younis or Yousuf to rotate the strike and this ends up with him slogging to keep the rate up.

This seems to be common among a lot of young Pakistani batsmen. Not since the days of Inzi and Moyo have i seen anyone capable of keeping the scoreboard ticking without resorting to some ugly hoicks. Nor do they have the power of an Afridi/razzaq or the timing of a Saeed anwar to score primarily off boundaries.

On what performances you're suggesting Sharjeel? or apart from that one 50 in NZ on what performances you're suggesting Umar in the team?
 
Ahmed Shehzad's batting technique analysis

I've noticed that he often plays with a cemented, static feet.

There's hardly any movement, and as Amir Sohail said, he looks extremely ugly when playing shots with cemented feet, mostly swinging towards long on or mid wicket.

This hasn't worked for him so far at international level, and all the top opposition teams have taken advantage of it.

How long can he last with such a technique? Why is he called "talented" by Rameez and Razzaq if he has no footwork?
 
And this is why we left Shehzad out of the intl t20 squads...

Massive choker. Only good for group stages of mickey mouse leagues but shows his true colors under same leagues' playoff and international level group stages.

Flopped in the 2011 WC. Flopped in the 2015 WC.

Scored a century against Bangla bros in the 2014 t20 WC, but is that really an achievement lol? Especially when he got out the same way as today but against Mishra against a pride saving game vs India. Same situation, same shot, same dismissal. He played out of panic like he always has in crunch moments.

Where does his aggression fade away then? Where's all the flair and talent at that moment? Cowardly innings 2 years ago in that 2014 India game, and today as well.

Am fully backing Khurram Manzoor, lobby or not.
 
He doesn't have any flair and talent and the only place he is aggressive is on twitter.
 
I have to agree on this. Even though he is piled on the runs and is tournament's top 5 run getter.
He has never performed in crunch situations..
 
He hasn't performed in a year- its as simple as that. He needed to be dropped, and some time away will do him good.

He has talent to succeed at the international level, and with everything Pakistan Cricket has already invested in him, he will most definitely be part of the future

BD was rubbish at the time, lost to Hong Kong in that World Cup. So yeah, pretty much of a serial failure so far in tournaments.
 
All this drama about how he'll be the one they recall for W20 changes? forget it.

Let's not forget, against Zalmi - with Afridi watching - he fought with Wahab AND he made a lame score already. Then today, again against Zalmi, he looked terrible.

So, if he wanted to win the backing of Afridi to get selected again, he's doing it all wrong
 
Failure at international level.

Averages 12 against top 10 including Bangla and Zim in ODI World Cups

In t20 world cups only has scored against minnows
 
I change my mind after today, Selfie ran off before facing another duel with Wahab Riaz. I put my money on Shehzad after his earlier performances, however now I feel Khurram Manzoor might actually be a good selection

He may or may not be a good selection

But he won't be a worse selection than Shehzad

So at the very least we will have an opener as bad as Shehzad

Upside is high. Downside is nonexistent
 
Where is feet movement ?

Are 150 plus kph bowlers bowling ?

Feet struck together and trying to drive on the up ?
 
You cannot play such shots playing from the crease with no feet movement.

Everyone on this forum who doesn't think Shehzad deserves a spot in the team is biased and puts personal likes/dislikes over Pakistan's interests? Theres a common defence mechanism you're displaying here, and its called projection. You are being extremely biased and putting your personal likes over what most people here agree is best for the team.

I don't wish any national player fails. Since the blow on the Head his Test Game has affected aswell. His numbers should be seen in context with Flat Dead Tracks.

Definitely Shehzad. He's 11 years younger than Hafeez. Has much more potential.

Agree about ahmed shezad, but disagree about butt and asif. They should never play international cricket again. Salman butt lied to the very end, shamelessly made his sisters and mother teztify that he is truthful on tv and in the end, admitted everything

I don't think we can blame Inzi much here.

The entire forum was drooling over Shehzad, and demanding him to be selected again, given yet another chance, despite constant failures for 100~ international matches.

Not only our selectors are a laughing stock but also our fans.

How can you select him again when he showed ABSOLUTELY NO improvement in his batting and technique when batting in domestics/PSL?
 
Shehzad got out to Holder a couple of times in the 2013 series in the West Indies too. Got done by the extra bounce.
 
Tbh he got out to a jaffa today. Babar got a similar jaffa the very next ball and was barely able to keep it out.

In limited overs he was trash before his head injury

Though domestic form wise the last six months have been best for him so I personally think that head injury is not a factor

Looked pretty decent to be honest.

The main difference, he was actually looking to rotate the strike proactively, hogging the strike had been one of his main downfalls. got out to a beauty.
 
I have been critical of him in the past. But he has earned his selection this time. I'm willing to give him a chance and some time.

Let's see if he's improved or not. Won't judge after 1 game, that a T20 as well.
 
Wow, the guys been around international game for 8 years or so now and he still hasnt improved his footwork, still has the ugly top hand heavy technic. He cant rotate strike and poor play of spin. Maybe instead of taking selfies etc.. he should get in the nets and improve his limited game. Players like shehzad sum up the pathetic lack of effort most pakistan players put into trying to improve as players.
 
Ahmed Shehzad should be banned from playing all forms of cricket for any team. He is a total waste of space.
 
He has looked abysmal this series in all formats

Missing out on half volleys Mistiming everything Twice saved by no balls and a drop chance to boot and going along at a poor strike rate with no intent to even rotate the strike

How does this guy make his way into all formats with a pretty limited array of shots and disgusting strike rate?
 
Good to see Shehzad performing well, I hope he becomes the captain of Pakistani team within next 2-3 years..
 
I can only assume he is ********. He is clearly scared of losing his place in the team so it goes playing for the team and just concentrating on survival. By playing this slow he is damaging Pakistan's chances of winning

Ahmed Shehzad and Shan Masood made a comeback to Pakistan Test squad needlessly.


For a new Opening pair Azhar Ali & Sami Aslam were doing absolutely fine as openers and did not need to disturbed at all.


Shehzad has made a return only because of fan base plus his impressive test average based on his UAE numbers. Post a blow to his head he was never what he was before on even Dead UAE wickets.


You can't just select players on their 14 months old Test numbers. Just look at last FC season. Shehzad doesn't feauture even in Top 20 Fc scorers. Probably he was there in Bangladesh playing T20 Cricket.

Look at this List. It has atleast 10 openers amongst Top run getters. Amongst those 10 average vise Shan Masood doesn't make even top 5 openers while Shehzad is absent from the List.

As a 3rd opener Inzamam could have picked Salman Butt if he is cleared. He had 4 Fc hundreds including twin centuries in Qea final where in his first ever FC season He won QEA for Wapda as a Captain. Even if he wasn't cleared and wasn't selected fine. No Problem.

Inzamam could have picked Imam ul Haq or Ahsan Ali or Sahibzada Farhan or Fakhar Zaman or Hamza Ghanchi as 3rd opener on bench with Azhar & Sami opening. Fakhar although has best season average plus Fc average but He isn't compact enough technically to be given Test Call. But Imam, Sahibzada, Ahsan or Hamza could have been good bench openers.


What precedence are you setting for domestic players by Selecting Shehzad & Shan ? Shan a complete Test failure has a FC season averaging poorer than 5-6 openers and gets picked while Shehzad has hardly played 2 Fc matches in last 14 months and gets picked ?

Even with these 2 lucky chances given today if Shehzad scores a double Ton his selection won't or cannot be called merited.
 
He is not a team player, he is only interested in the glamour of playing for Pakistan
 
Could be one of worst test hundreds ever made by a pakistani here, hes looked awful.

For me his ability is not the problem, only the intent. Unfortunately, he isn't showing improvement on that front.
 
What an awful batsman. When are we finally going to get rid of this guy? Terrible innings in such good batting conditions. Babar showing him how to bat
 
On a good batting track he barely hit over a run-a-ball. This guy needs to go practice this "aggression" or stick with this timid approach and play only Tests.
 
Not a great innings today, but he put on a great partnership with Babar Azam.
