Now that Pakistan have won CT, will we see better prize money & sponsors in series and competitions?

One of the biggest gripes I have had in the past is the laughable amounts of prize money available in national series and domestic comps

Awards like $100 etc for best player etc have been given and the explanation given was the lack of sponsors due to Pakistan's low win situation and dwindling rankings etc

Ok so all that has changed now.

I am hoping for more sponsors to step up (beyond cars and plots of lands here and there) and support Pakistan cricket to produce more stars of the future.

Hope I am not wrong.

Really need more of proper sponsors coming up and presenting their plans for sponsorship then these gimmick on TV. The time is now for the major corporates as it also makes more commercial sense.

What's wrong with Pepsi?

Its a huge global brand.

PCB needs to get their act together and stop the corruption.

By winning the champions trophy can Pakistan get a big name sponsorship?

By winning the ICC Championts trophy, is their a possiblity that Pakistan can get a sponsership, from big brands like Puma, addidas, New Balance or Nike, useually big brands like to go behind teams that have won, and we all know that Pakistan jerseys do sell alot in pakistan and abroad as well. We all know that the chances of this happening is not likley, but the management should try to push for this.

Windies won it sometime back. I don't think anything changed for them. They have been still sliding down.

If i was a marketer of an international sports brand I would be weary of sponsoring Pakistan cricket as India is a huge market but they like to boycott stuff a lot so would be unwilling to equate my brand with Pakistan

Are we trying to believe that sponsorship depends only on result or succes? There is no marketing strategy or brand building efforts in that? Of course total size of economy has the biggest factor in it, but within same economy, wasn't PAK cricket popular enough being 9th or being CT champion? I mean, Pom football team is almost a laughing stalk .... EPL is by far the richest league were Crystal Palace has higher gross revenue than AS Roma - the Setia A runners up. Or for that matter BCCI of 90s, when team India wasn't the world beater to be honest.

What little I understand is endorsements/sponsorship depends on the market size, spending power of target market, popularity of the platform (here cricket) & eventually effective best return of the investment - all those factors were there even before CT win, at least if that's with WI team, then it should have been more for PAK team - be it 9th or even World Champions.

..... or may be Addidas, Nike didn't like to dirt their hand to make it happy & sweet for few PCB decision makers .....

Pepsi is a huge brand. As big as it gets

dunno what people are complaining about lol

Exactly Pepsi and even Lays chips/crisps are massive (Pepsi more so) and we don't need anything more than that. Something like Nike/NB/Puma/Adidas would just be a massive bonus, they aren't essential.

Lay's is owned by Frito-Lay, a subsidiary of Pepsi. OP is referring to a more established kit manufacturer like Nike, Adidas etc., which is unlikely.

Oh wow, I didn't actually know that. :))

But yeah I did mention kit manufacturers, which we don't really need, the kits are fine and the big brand deal would be a nice addition but isn't something that is extremely important. I doubt winning the CT would boost our chances anyway.

I think people have just become so used to it now, they are everywhere, i often joke that a Pakistani Nuke would have pepsi logo on it

Pakistan are still ranked 7th/8th, if this turn around is more sustained perhaps you can expect better sponsorship deals but a one off shock tournament win doesn't change things around all of a sudden.

You don't need Nike,Adidas it's good to be different

If marketed well even one major victory can earn better deals for them. What could be a strong point to be presented before the possible sponsors is the euphoria behind the Pak victory and its celebrations worldwide even days after the culmination of the event. So obviously their product will reach out to the millions via Pak players which is what they want. And 'reach to many' is the reason why they paid billions to BCCI for sponsorship deals.
