Interesting....the two Sc giants..India have similar test series wins in Eng ,SA and Australia

Major diff between India and Pakistan is new Zealand and Windies only.

Stats should be taken with a salt of grain and this one here is a perfect example.

Pakistan drew in WI when other teams were getting annihilated in 80s; then some confessed bad umpiring cost us the series when Wasim took a 10fer.

And in Australia, in Hobart test, umpire decided to not give out a thick edge. Rest is history

I don't get why do Indians have struggled so much in NZ tho.

Hmm I have gone over that Windies drawn series many times, so am bored as far as I remember the 2002-2003 series in NZ ,kiwis beat us fair and square.

Can't complain much regarding that, also when Windies was not so great let's assume before 80s and after 90s PCT didn't win.. jus saying.

Such things happen in cricket. People share the same thing about India's tour to Australia in 2008. It was 2-1 and we could have won if not for Bucknor.

But you can't bother with taking all of this into account. Because at the end of the day, luck balances out.

Would request OP InziFans to do a post-1990 stats roundup, if possible to get a clearer picture about modern day teams.

A lot of these series wins are from 1930-1980 and hardly hold any relevance today.

Not at all surprising when you consider that:

1. SA, AUS & ENG have been playing from before 1900 and are historically much richer nations

2. IND & PAK, still recovering from 200 years of colonization, barely had any resources and finances until the 1990s

3. SL got test status in 1981

Once you actually factor in the socio-political history of these teams, it's actually quite remarkable how far SC teams have come in such a short time.

Thanks man. Appreciate it.

The disparity between Asian and non-Asian teams have reduced a lot, as the stats suggest.

You're welcome :)

Yes, especially at home, India's home record in this period is as good as it gets.

Not just India. I asked your help for the post-1990 stats to make it a fair comparison for all SC teams.

Many times we forget just how much hardship India and Pakistan has overcome to reach where they are.

When these two countries finally gained independence they were left with nothing.

Yet they have managed to match (and often outdo) countries that have looted from them and have been playing cricket for many more years.

Fans of both countries (and also SL) should be extremely proud of how much they have achieved in so little time, against all odds.

Good efffort. I maintain a similar excel just to see how teams have fared outside their countries.
InziFans, I think you may have considered 1 test series results also. Since ICC only considers minimum 2 matches as a series, same rule should be applied here. Case in point, England has won 4, not 5 series in India.
