With news that Naseem Shah is fit, Pakistan could well be tempted to play him as they strengthen their case for a final berth in the Tri-series. More importantly Naseem needs some game time before the big tournament too.

Would be great if Pakistan can make it 2 in 2 vs a good team like NZ at their home - will be a great confidence booster if that happens.

Rizwan won't rest.

Grass is green.

The Earth revolves around the Sun.

Thanks everyone for listening.

No point of resting Rizwan this close to the WCT20. He's our best batter and should be given all opportunities to get acclimated to the local conditions.

I think its fine to play Rizwan today but he should rest next match vs Bangladesh in what is likely to be a rubber match. Final is also set the following day so there's no point playing back to back days and he is someone that definitely needs rest.

I would like to see Rauf & Wasim Jr. rested for Hasnain & Naseem though if both are ready to go. Rauf needs a break & Wasim Jr. is coming of an injury recently so there's no sense in playing him every match.

Naseem Shah passed the medical test and is available for selection today

Update from NZC: BLACKCAPS bowling coach Shane Jurgensen won't be with the team today due to feeling unwell and seeing a doctor

Pakistan (Playing XI): Mohammad Rizwan(w), Babar Azam(c), Shan Masood, Haider Ali, Iftikhar Ahmed, Asif Ali, Shadab Khan, Mohammad Nawaz, Mohammad Wasim Jr, Naseem Shah, Shahnawaz Dahani

New Zealand (Playing XI): Finn Allen, Devon Conway(w), Kane Williamson(c), Glenn Phillips, Mark Chapman, James Neesham, Michael Bracewell, Mitchell Santner, Ish Sodhi, Tim Southee, Blair Tickner

Finally a break for Rauf. Well earned my boy.

I hope Hasnain gets games this series too when he’s feeling better. I’m not sold on Waseem playing Vs India. He seems like the type of bowler India will smash for runs.

Please let’s see an all guns blazing approach today guys. No gunning and settling for a middling 140-160 score today. PLEASE

He can actually lol. M Harris is in the squad and imo deserves a shot over failures like Shan.

Haris may be worth a look down the road but he looked very undercooked whether in the ODIs during the summer or the recent T20 against England. At the moment, we'll be lucky to put a wk-bats that's 50% of Rizwan.

It just mind boggling fact that with such a limited off side game Rizwan still had those numbers which he had, and this is first off side four i can remember in long time.

They should target 70 in powerplay and 200 for the innings. That's the mindset they should have, even if they lose 8 or 9 wickets by the end.

will babar and rizwan look for 50 first and the go on slogging till then stick to usual every match plan

Agreed, as long as the openers don't start playing for their stats again.

Rizwan today didn't look like getting to 50 first was the plan

They wanted to bat first, so no point going tuk tuk.

Good intent from Rizwan, tried hitting out instead of being bogged down for longer

bowling an offspinner in powerplay is usually very risky

I love that they batted first and started well. Had Rizwan timed that better, we'd be well on our way for 50+ in the PP, which is all that you need batting first.

Overall disappointing powerplay with only 42/1 at a RR of 7, against fairly average bowlers.

Need to get Haider coming in next and then Asif. Both of them need to have time in the middle with a license to play their natural game.

Babar also needs to go hard from here on and show everybody, including himself, that he can do it.

Finally some boundaries. We can be soo boring to watch at times, esp with this top order. Shan can’t be our number 3.

Oh man shan masood is such useless player cant connect the ball ..and batting at # 3 critical position . Who selected him
