Pakistan (151/5) defeat Zimbabwe (147/8) by 5 wickets in a thrilling encounter in the opener of Tri-Nation T20I series

not convinced by Usman Khan. One of the most ugly looking ( Style of play ) batter at crease i have seen in recent times. proper hack. Deserved UAE team

Decent inning from Usman..did not block many balls and always looking to rotate the strike and put away the bad balls. His partnership with Fakhar was very valuable.
his inns would have cost the game, if Nawaz was out in the penultimate over... the way he played the free hit , shows what he is capable of even with no fielders catching for him... How was he asked to drop UAE contract to play for the national side, Pak selectors either dont care or never watch games or players before selecting them...

look at Nawaz Clearing the boundary with ease compared to this hack. Nawaz looks like proper batter compared to Usman who looks for runs in ugly fashion and only succeeds if luck is with him

Imagine Level of PSL bowling where Hack like Usman khan Scored 40 Ball Hundred. Probably lower than Grade 2 domestic set up

Natural course of action
Give captaincy to Shaheen
Agha Experiment ia Failed. He needs to avoid the Sarfraz Ahmed Fate and save his career in ODI and Test
M Nawaz in place of Agha
Irfan Niazi in place of Usman Khan
and Keeping duties for Farhan

Fakhar took all the pressure and then released it with his wrath to ensure Pakistan wins this game easily at the end.

I am gonna lay my neck on the line and say that Sikandar Raza is a better batsmen than Babar in T20 format !

They are barely managing to win which is good I suppose but man oh man are there massive red flags with this team.

The top order continues to be beyond horrific. Like it's not just bad, they're downright abysmal. Nobody up top can seem to make more than 20-30 runs and they're not even quick runs. Pakistan routinely gets dominated in the PP, with the bowlers not striking in PP and batters not striking in the PP either. Salman Agha at 4 in particular, continues to be the weak link in the lineup where he doesn't have a role nor a spot that makes sense.

They are barely winning and that's papering over some serious red flags on this team. Because of the wins, it gives the players a false sense they are still doing fine but to me, there seems to be massive red flags on this batting lineup that will get exposed at the WC.

Them forcibly converting Fakhar to be a finisher and change his whole batting position just months before a World Cup is criminal activity. He'll still do it because he cares about the team but this is not the way you treat your senior and most dependable batsman. Even no.4 is valid imo but anything below that means you don't value what he brings despite him not having the same abilities still
Fakhar is an opener or NO spot below 3 - period!
These idiots will destroy his utility. The ENTIRE T20 setup of this team is meesed up and they are hell bent on stupid experiments which will gain nothing and lose everything - stupid coaching/selection.

Pakistan should have batted first against a weaker side like Zimbabwe and used the chance to truly test this new “modern cricket” template Hesson keeps talking about. When else are we going to find out whether these “young” players can actually play that high-tempo style? I don’t think they can, but at least try it against a team like Zimbabwe and see where we stand. Absolutely no idea why we chose to bowl first after winning the toss.

Lol bro why is that putting your neck on the line?

Putting your neck on the line is by claiming the left handed opener Murumani is better than Babar in T20s

I think he is :ROFLMAO:

Nawaz is playing international cricket for last 4-5 years, Usman hasn't played enough at international level.

Because we are scared to reach a below par score and then be embarrassed by Zimbos.

Joke’s on us, had Fakhar and Usman not pulled up that partnership, stat-padder INC had made sure we were done and dusted.

These two can’t even stat-pad proper now, the situation is that dire.

Nawaz is at the top of his game. Like i earlier said he is your most valuable asset in the team. Usman is playing for his place. You can't compare Nawaz with Usman . One is ozzing with confidence other is struggling to find his feet at international level. Also Usman is unorthodox batter he will naturals look ugly . Give him enough chance to judge his potential.

Rawalpindi, 18 November 2025: Pakistan began their campaign in the Tri-nation T20I series with a five-wicket victory over Zimbabwe as they chased the 148-run target with four balls to spare here at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Tuesday night.

Zimbabwe will now take on Sri Lanka at the same venue on Thursday, 20 November in the second match of the series.

Player of the match Mohammad Nawaz’s all-round contributions (4-0-22-2, 20 not out off 12) coupled with a crucial 61-run fifth-wicket stand between Fakhar Zaman (45, 32b, 2x4s, 2x6s) and Usman Khan (37 not out, 28b, 3x4s) led Pakistan to their third T20I win in their last four fixtures.

Zimbabwe’s opening pair of Brian Bennett (49, 36b, 8x4s) and Tadiwanashe Marumani (30, 22b, 3x4s, 1x6) put on a solid 72-run stand in eight overs after Pakistan opted to bowl first.

Pakistan’s bowling attack reined in Zimbabwe’s batting line-up taking eight wickets for 75 runs in the remaining 12 overs after Nawaz halted the opening duo’s advance.

After walking in to bat at 94-3 in the 13th over, skipper Siknadar Raza remained unbeaten for 34 off 24 balls (3x4s, 1x6) including a six and a four in the last over of innings.

In turn, Pakistan stumbled to 54-4 after Saim Ayub (22, 26b, 1x4, 1x6) and Sahibzada Farhan (16, 15b, 3x4s) put on 27 runs for the opening stand.

Fakhar and Usman came together when Pakistan required 94 runs off 63 balls and saw off boundary-less 11th over. Usman then hit a boundary each in 12th and 13th over, while Fakhar found a six each in the next two overs bringing the equation down to 42 needed off last five overs.

Zimbabwe threatened to tighten the screws with Fakhar’s scalp in the 16th over off Richard Ngarava before Nawaz walked in and stitched an unbeaten 36-run match-winning stand with Usman.

Nawaz hit a six over long-on off Brad Evans in the 17th over after which Pakistan required 17 off the last two overs. The duo then gathered 12 runs off Evans in the penultimate over as in a dramatic turn of events he overstepped, they dropped Nawaz and Usman hit a four in a space of two balls.

Tinotenda Maposa – defending five runs off the last over – got hit for back-to-back fours by Nawaz on the first two balls as Pakistan got over the line.

Usman khan needs enough chances? like how many? 50 Games? he has already played 23 and only averages 17 at Sr of 120. I bet Naseem Shah is technically better batsman than this ugly hack. He deserved a spot but in UAE team and he has been imposed on us

Usman Khan might not look good but he can make effective contributions with the bat like he did today and this is what should matter at the end.

he cannot make effective contributions because he is not good enough against better teams. his average of 17 and one fifty in 23 games is evidence of that. He looks ugly hack and gets out cheaply more often than not. no effectiveness. we already have 2 anchors in Babar and Agha and now we have this ugly hack who plays at 120 SR and knock it around to make it look effective

Did you actually see him play or just looked at the score? I only saw the last 4 overs of the game. Whatever I saw, he was struggling to PROPERLY hit the ball almost all the time.

I am not saying that he is lacking skills since I have not see him play much, I am questioning his shot selection and mental strength to cope with international game pressure.

I haven't watched today's innings but I think he is a better choice than Haris. Let's see how he performs in the remainder of this tri-series. With more games under his belt for the national side, he should get better in all departments.

Got your point but if we gave Haris a good run, he deserves a good run as well to prove himself. Otherwise, he will be out of the team too just like Haris.

Pakistan team is not a charity where we have to keep giving chances to players who just wont cut it.

Harris Showed the ability to play good in t20 wc 2022 and then got a century in Lahore thats why he got extended run. there was a glimpse of potential and you need to have that for extended chances and i cant see any potential in Usman Khan

Usman Khan has 5 T20 centuries, Haris only has 1. I don't think there is any harm if the management is giving him a chance to prove himself for the national side. Usman also has a better average than Haris in T20 cricket overall.

PSL bowling quality needs to be questioned because Usman Khan has 5 t20 Centuries.

The joke is on Pak cricket

so what? We dropped a useless player to bring a replacement thats worse . Replacements are supposed to be better
The management is probably testing the options before the 2026 T20 world cup and if these guys don't take their chances, we may see Rizwan coming back in the team.

He first scarified his opening place and now the number 3 spot, still performed brilliantly for his team. Hats off to him.
He's not sacrificed his opening spot though.. it's kinda like KL Rahul situation, fakhar is utter failure @ opening but PCB want him in the xi that's why his position keep getting changed..

So you were in favor of Babar and Rizwan opening the batting in the T20s?
