October 2019: Is Pakistan still an unsafe country for a full programme tour?

Going by that logic, Pakistan is well within its rights to not tour England or Australia on the grounds of ‘not feeling safe’ for whatever reason, and then expect the ICC to not intervene and force them to tour. No points being deducted and no sharing of expenses for a different venue.

If they don’t feel safe they shouldn’t attend those countries. But the fact they are tells you they have no issues lol.

You are no one to decide where other people feel safe or not.

But when a country is safe but people still refuse to tour then that's their problem not the country's.
Pakistan is a LOT safer than people think and if they think wrong than that's their problem not the PCB's.
So, if they want to play in the UAE instead they'll have to pay.

Exactly my point. PCB is the 4th richest board in the world with the potential to be 2nd if they play regularly at home. Surely they can start asserting more authority on other boards to get their perception act together or get ready to ditch points and money in the process. It will work in their favour

I am certain that the situation improved miles and above from before but here is the problem with Pakistan and PCB, no one trust them 100%. Trust is not that hard to gain, but when you loose that trust, expect to bend down times and beyond to get it back, even then, it may never be restored. And that my friend if PCB's fault, no one elses. It's frustrating for the general population, totally understandable, but ROW does not care.

Why does it hurt your ego so much that you can’t have a bigger brand than 1 or 2 individuals who proved Pakistan is safe?

Proved to whom? Are teams lining up to tour pakistan?

Who decides who is a bigger brand? You?

Players like Del Pierro,Forlan,Trezeguet,Roberto Carlos,Pires have actually played in the Indian league. Lol.

You are jumping up and down because couple of footballers visited.

The desperation is sad.

It’s not about us thinking it’s safe though. It’s what other countries think.

If they think Pakistan is not safe or at least the major cities are not safe then they're deluded and they need to be told the truth
If they think Pakistan is what it was 10 years ago then that's their ignorance why should we pay the price?

You cannot change perceptions. If Pakistan doesn’t want to accomodate other boards, then they have the power to withdraw from ICC tournaments & increase domestic league games to make money. No country can force other countries to tour you & make money for you if they don’t want to do it.

No one is forcing anyone.
But there needs to be repercussions if they don't tour.
They'll have to pay if they want to play in the UAE

Jason Roy recently visited Pakistan thanks to Zong. He was obviously paid a fortune but I think it is a very big development. He is one of the most popular players at the moment and hugely important for England. As a contracted player, the ECB could have blocked him from visiting Pakistan if they deemed it unsafe.

If he could visit the country and mingle with the locals, there is no reason why he would say no to playing cricket in the country. It will obviously influence some of the other English players as well. If PCB can get England to tour Pakistan and Wasim Khan can finally be of some use thanks to his ECB contacts, it would completely change the perception and would pretty much ensure permanent restoration of cricket in Pakistan.

No disrespect to teams like Sri Lanka and West Indies, but England touring Pakistan would be a gigantic step forward for Pakistan. I hope PCB will build on Roy’s visit to Pakistan to convince ECB to tour soon, even if it for a couple of T20Is only.

I am quite surprised at the lack of coverage in the media and even on PP. This is quite big in my opinion.

Thanks for this Mamoon, this was refreshing to watch, barring that moment when Younis Khan picked Rooney over Rolando (doesn't matter if it's CR7 or R9) On the whole it was a culturally enriching promotion of Pakistan.

The lack of media coverage is a shame given that England recently won the World Cup and have one of their biggest stars in Jason Roy endorsing this, who was instrumental in helping his side win the tournament.

Pretty cool video cheers for the share

It’s not about us thinking it’s safe though. It’s what other countries think.

Ignorance is their fault. We aren't dealing with illiterates who have no information available to them. These people have latest data available to them.

So your logic is that cricketing teams not visiting is counter-proof? The ultimate proof is the data. The data proves Pakistan is safe. You keeping crossing between fact-based arguments and opinion/perception based arguments and equate the two. The two are completely separate. The footballers visiting Pakistan in itself is not the ultimate proof but it is just one example. The ultimate proof is the data, as mentioned earlier.

I think he probably didn’t even know who Rooney was, but picked him because he didn’t want to say Ronaldo again. Roy’s reaction was hilarious though.
