It was the third Test between Pakistan and West Indies at Karachi. The visitors won the toss and elected to bat but failed to put up a big total. Only Sherwin Campbell managed a fifty as West Indies were bowled out for 216 with Saqlain Mushtaq picking up five wickets and Wasim Akram three.

In reply, Aamer Sohail (160) and Ijaz Ahmed (151) decimated the West Indian bowling attack consisting of Courtney Walsh, Ian Bishop, Franklyn Rose, Mervyn Dillon and Carl Hooper as they put on 298 before Aamer Sohail was dismissed by... Shiv Chanderpaul. Pakistan only added another 119 runs to the total but still racked up 417.

West Indies couldn't put up a large score in the third innings barring a ton at better than run-a-ball by Carl Hooper as Saqlain and Wasim picked up four wickets apiece to bowl the tourists out for 212. Pakistan went on to seal a ten-wicket win as Mohammad Wasim and Azhar Mahmood easily knocked over the 15 required runs.

Wow I didn't know about this as I was only born in 1999. A great opening partnership against a very good bowling attack.

Could use a big opening partnership tomorrow, but can't think of a pair which is more unlikely to deliver :imam :moha

Wasnt this 1st ever time W.I had been clean swept in a series by anyone?

I was at the dentist when this partnership was finally broken. Tv was in the dental clinic reception.
