"Once Azam Khan plays in PSL, I don't think anybody will question his selection" : Sarfaraz Ahmed

What was the logic of selecting Azam Khan in queeta gladiators team

I was very optimistic when Azam was selected and Sarfraz gave the assurance that people will know the talent of Azam when he will get its chance.. it's proved that he was selected Purely on the basis of nepotism .

Free ride into the QG down the road. Let others fail and than use him as an "exciting youthful flare".

He doesn't get paid if he doesn't play....that's the rule for supplementary players. Him being with the team hasn't cost them a penny nor has it taken anything away from someone else who would be brought to sit along with the team instead of Azam. Pakistanis really need to get over it.

He's done a fantastic job carrying the pens and pencils for the QG analysts whilst acting as a punchbag for any QG players who wanted to vent some frustration.

Once azam khan plays, everyone in our domestic and main teams will be suddenly fit...

I said to everyone there was no way he can play when the selection was made, and looks like thats true

Punchbag :))) savage.

This guy has had a nice little trip giving important high fives to Sir Viv who himself has the important job of cheerleading while wearing pants, not a skirt.

I wonder how much it would have hindered Quetta's chance of winning the tournament if they had selected some one like Bismillah Khan over the talented Azam Khan.

Sarfraz would not want to select a WK who is better than him

Azam Khan in good form - 84 off 56 balls in the Karachi Premier League!

Has anyone seen him play? Any notes? Any good?

I saw him bat couple of times lay year on tv and he didn't look all that bad but his weight (over weight) is his biggest down side obviously. He can sort out his fitness and shred some pounds he can make it to pak senior team.

Sarfraz obviously cannot say anything bad about him as he's going Khan's son . And they're buddies.

Probably friends with Azam as well.

Shafiq, Moin Khan, Rashid Latif, Sarfraz, Anwar Ali, Khurram..and now Azam.

This is a MAFIA!!

I suspect that Azam Khan might have a medical issue which could explain his weight problems.

He has made his debut. Now what?

Sarfraz has always come as a weak person when it comes to standing up to seniors.

If Saud Shakeel was Saud Khan (Moin Khan's son) i am dead sure he would have got a chance by now.

But I am sure Saud wouldn’t get so much love and appreciation on this forum if he was Moin’s son.

This thread title tells you everything you need to know about Sarfraz and his agenda.

The way Rakheem Cornwall is going - Azam Khan should not lose hope!

He also didnt make it in the new system???

Wow. His uncle was one of the guys finalizing the seletions. Cant believe it if this is true.

Emerging player for the third year straight and has got the backing of Pakistan media as well.

Why is he still an emerging player? This is ridiculous.

Disgusting to see the likes of Azam Khan being picked of deserving young players like Zeeshan Malik that have the ability to succeed at the international level.

This guy is selected while zeeshan Malik has missed out again.

He is going the path of Misbah's son. Selected for national tournament. Tournament going on , and the guy just wanted to be in Australia

He should be nowhere near the PSL.

There will be many cricketers sat at home wondering why he is there and they aren't.

Shameless sifarish.

Tbh it doesn't make any difference to QG. They have already played in 3 of the 4 finals and won once.

People that picked should feel ashamed but somehow, I have feeling that this is water off a ducks back.

One of the reasons why Sarfraz has lost respect amongst his previous fans.

Does not have the gall to stand up against nepotism.

It's probably part of Moin Khan's deal - salary and you get to pick your son in the squad.

Looking at some of the dreadful picks-I have this awful feeling that the selectors are getting "commissions" from some of the players.

Many have said that.

Also connections are important.

Several players have told me that some franchises have told players they will pick them only to find that they instead pick some nobody who is well-connected.

PCB really needs an anti-corruption task force. This is nepotism no questions asked. He's not good enough to deserve a place in the squad at the expense of many more talented players.

****ing ludicrous.

Even a great concept like the PSL is being corrupted by these losers. Our ex players are one of the biggest obstacles to the development of the game. They are truly pathetic.

Azam Khan averages 13.25 in his 8 List A matches which he has played in his career.

Since Nov 2018 he has only played ONE domestic match and that was the ONE PSL game which he got to play.

Since Nov 2018 he has played 0 domestic matches (except from PSL) and has managed to be picked for the PSL 2020.

Sarfraz is shamelessly promoting nepotism and cheating. ZamanFan will still find a reason to defend him.

Well funny thing is few years on Sarfraz is now out the side. Now him and fat boy can talk and their reductions

Azam Khan is what’s wrong with our society in a nutshell. What’s even worse is that no one has the courage to stand up to this blatant nepotism/corruption. TBH, Our U19 team that was selected for U19 WC had tons of parachi players hence the out come was so disappointing.

He looks better than before, but he is still no where close to the fitness level of a professional cricketer.

Neither is Misbah. He took nothing cricketer Arshal Sheikh in his team.
None of our former players are good may be 2-3% are good.

This reminds me of a dialogue from Amazon Prime's "Mirzapur":-
"Chubby hai yeh important nahi hai, mera beta hai yeh important hai".

P.S. the quote has been mellowed down to meet the forums criteria.

Hamara ladka

Man, how can you disrespect Kaleen Bhayya like this? :virat1

I don't think Sarfaraz will get any say in it. He'll be told that Azam will be in the squad and that's that.

Incredible, shameless, disgusting but nobody will speak up about it.

I blame the owner really.

Tweet about it Saj. Continue to be the voice of reason in the mad cricketing world of Pakistan.

Can you please post a before and after photo so we can see whether he has lost any weight or not?

There is none of him standing from this press conference so we cannot tell.

but this is one from last year

Moin Khan said: “While it is very difficult to identify three players out of our squad since all players are capable, I would say all three; Hasnain, Naseem and Azam have the potential to turn a game on its head with their performances.

“Hasnain and Naseem have both tasted success at the international level, their pace will be vital to our plans and they can rattle the opposition batsmen.

“Likewise, Azam is a talented player; he is a big-hitter and has tremendous potential. The way he is practicing and working hard on the game, he can make a big impact when he gets the opportunity to play.”

How can someone be so shameless.

The owner said in 2017: I think Azam Khan is the cleanest hitter in Pakistan at the moment. Moin has put a lot of emphasis on his fitness and he will become fit. But I can assure you, if you see his game, you'll forget Chris Gayle.

Guess he's still waiting for this investment to pay dividends...

How can someone be so shameless.

He can, because he has gotten away with so much more in past that this bit (promoting his son) seems to be least of his evil deeds to Pakistan cricket.

PSL teams aren't Pakistan sides. Owners feel its their money so they do what they like with it!

PCB should have put some criteria on draft list but they didnt it seems....
