Disgusting that selfish players like shehzad will continue to block the way for upcoming, budding talents like Saud. The QG management is without a doubt the most infuriating.

Commentators are clueless, it was a responsible innings, he saw the team through to the end and stayed out there. I guarantee if this was Misbah ul Haq, everyone would put a different spin on things.

Hoggy wanted to take a nap during that innings ft. Ahmed Shehzad but we kept him awake: Fakhr-e-Alam :)))

He has been in poor touch and it was a small target. Nothing wrong with getting some deliveries under his belt and spending time in the middle.

Just the usual case of people criticizing him for whatever he does.

i wonder if the QG will suffer because of the NRR? if they do then we all know who to blame...

Agree, back in the 80s this was normal for opening batsmen.. but today’s public just doesn’t have any patience.

Exactly, although it was a weird innings but he made sure that he took QG across the line whose other batsmen kept getting themselves out.

I am surprised to see some Misbah fans bashing Shehzad for this, i thought that would remind them of their hero. :yk

Also, the key here is that he played on the 1-down position, which i have always thought is the better position for him than opening.

Uhmm no. This is his touch. Thats the way he bats. Made his debut in 2009 and always batted this way.

Made 0 improvement as a player. Was a starter in both the WT20 in 2009 and CT17 only after he got dropped PAK started winning.

it was a pathetic innings.

Yes it is very easy to keep your wicket if you score at a strike rate of 80 in t20s, that's why he 'took QG across the line'

Rilee Rousow could have done that if he consumed more dot balls and played less riskier shots, but he scored at a 100 strike rate.

NRR is important in tournaments and Shehzad showed us once again that he is a slow player.

Lol Shehazad already retweeting about his "great" innings

just saw that.. quite pathetic

also goes to show that Shehzad doesn't have the hunger to get better and actually play great innings,
he will be happy with these kinds of knocks

at least he hasn't told any of his team mates or opposition players to be ready for the fire :moyo

Nope it is all about the team and what the team needs on the specific day and they needed him to remain not out and to lead the team over the line given that a collapse is always possible. Hating for nothing. He was out of form and needed time in the middle.

After the 15th over there was basically no chance of a collapse being 2 wickets down and there should've been an acceleration Akmal tried and failed the target should've been reached by the 17th over.
If it comes down to run rate and Quetta don't qualify then they know where to look first it wasn't totally selfish innings he was struggling to time the ball but for the teams sake you shouldn't leave it as late to accelerate.

I don't disagree with anything you have said.

But surely no one can say 28 off 35 is a great innings, not in 2019. That is insulting to batsmen who actually play great innings, like so many have in the PSL already.

Okay knock for Shehzad, helped his team chase a low total and possibly got some confidence in the process. Nothing more than that, certainly not "great come back"

Don't think anyone is calling it a great innings.

Good to see him being called out for his flaws.

Why he is getting so much hate...
I can't see any difference between this inning and the one which haris played

Ahmed Shehzad was imitating ABD today. I guess he’s realized Kohli was out of his reach.

I just pulled up the scorecard. Am I missing something?

He was chasing 120 which is like chasing 200 in an ODI. Came in at 1-drop, nudged and nurdled it around and ended up at 28* (35) and saw his team through.

Why should he have accelerated? Was his team in danger of being knocked out because of NRR or something?

I actually thought he scored like 40 off 45 and lost his team the match but they actually won so I am not sure what everybody is so PO'ed about. I love bagging on Shehzad as much as the next guy but he actually got the job done here so what the hell?

Don't know what the fuss is about. You can accuse him of turning a T20 into an excruciating borefest but you can't accuse him of selfishness. They won with more than an over to spare.

Disingenuous post.

He should be given a good run in the team. No point in bringing him for a series and then drop him again. A good run for 9 months or so will do him a ton of good.

IMO it was not a selfish inning but it's the show of his capabilites. If the target would have 170 then still he could have scored the same with 6-7 balls less.

On top along with Hafeez as the most selfish player in Pakistan.

And some folks want them to be captain of National side.

Pathetic innings. Nearly cost his side the game. Don't think I've ever disliked a player from my own country as much as I dislike Shehzad.

Same, and when he's on the bench he never applauds a wicket or milestone when the camera pans to the quetta bench:shehzad

Just lacks the ability to rotate strike. Don't think selfishness is playing a part here.
