Sarfaraz Ahmed speaking after Pakistan's loss to New Zealand:

"We are very disappointed. We didn't start well but then Azhar and Asad had a good partnership and we thought we had the game under control, but then we had a collapse which was very disappointing for the team"

"We have to give credit to Ajaz Patel for bowling brilliantly. The pitch's behaviour also changed a bit. I think we needed to take a bit of time at the crease but we didn't do that and that cost the team at the end"

"The batsmen should have scored the runs primarily but yes, the shots from the tailenders were disappointing, we will talk to them and tell them that they shouldn't play such shots when a proper batsman is playing alongside them"

"We were in a strong position twice, first when we got them out cheaply and then when we could have taken a big lead. It was disappointing but we will try to ensure we don't make the same mistake in the upcoming matches"

"The pitch's behaviour has been such that players who are set are comfortable but as soon as someone gets out, there is a collapse. As far as the target goes, we should have chased it down"

"Our team couldn't handle the pressure. We were around 140 and needed 40 to win, Babar Azam's run out was the turning point as the collapse started then"

"I am disappointed at my mode of dismissals, I make lots of runs with the sweep shots but it didn't work in both innings"

"The pitches of Abu Dhabi aren't the same as before, the behaviour has changed quite a lot and it offers a lot more turn from the start. We will have to give credit to Ajaz Patel for the way he bowled"

"It wasn't easy to go out there and hit for any batsmen. Azhar and Asad had a good partnership, if Asad played a couple more balls through to lunch then we could have been in an easier position"

"The message for the batsmen was to be positive and continue the way we started yesterday. I think if you look at our dismissals, there were a lot of soft dismissals, almost all of them were. If batsmen get starts, they have to carry on and make it a big score if we want to improve in Test cricket in future"

"Things were in our hands but we gave up the chance, we will try to hit back hard in the next match and make a come back"

"This was the first of six continuous Tests, it is disappointing but we will try to put it behind us and make a comeback"

"We are giving away too many soft wickets, if someone played a big innings in the first innings, we could have been in a better position. The batsmen will have to score big runs"

You are one of the biggest problem with the team

Where was the pressure?? 45 runs to win with 7 wickets and yet there was 'pressure'.You guys just panicked for no understandable reason.

To lose a test match from that position has left all the fans embarassed.

As a captain Sarfraz should be more ashamed than disappointed

"I am disappointed at my mode of dismissals, I make lots of runs with the sweep shots but it didn't work in both innings"

This sums up our pathetic captain, clearly if you have failed to a poor Sweep shot 1st inns, why do it again 2nd inns?

Did exactly the same against SL when we lost that series as well.

Needs to be dropped.

Still the we will learn from our mistakes **. We were supposed to have learnt from our mistakes after last year’s collapse vs Lanka or the collapses in Headingley.

Been saying this from day 1 he was made test captain that it was a bad choice. Sack him as the captain. Totally unfit for the format as captain

You lot can NEVER handle the pressure even if you were playing cricket for 100 years.

Mentally disabled and can't do anything about it.

Despite his recent fall from glory, I have utmost respect for Steve Smith (actually every Aussie Captain, they play with skill, passion & pride).

After the Hobert Test (SAF, he was the stand out performer for his team), in press conference he said - “I feel ashemed to be here in front of you, talking with the baggy green on”.

After the champions trophy, he made similar comments. He would have improved as a captain . I have no doubt about that.

Whilst we have Sarfraz who just says the same old stuff and makes the same excuses for defeats.

Not to mention the other teams would easily know what his favorite shot is and put in fielders to exactly counter that. This is what's been happening after his purple patch, opposition have figured out his entire game, yet no change in style. Our players are so mentally weak, no critical thinking what so ever.
