#JusticeforRehan was trending in Pakistan on Monday in support for the teenage boy who was killed after brutally being tortured over accusations of stealing from a bungalow in the Bahadurabad area of Karachi.

According to police, two alleged robbers attempted to enter a bungalow near Kokan Ground in Bahadurabad. The security guard in the area caught one – identified as 17-year-old Rehan – while the other one managed to escape.

The bungalow’s owner and neighbours tied Rehan by his hands and beat him. A video circulating on social media showed the teenager unable to move, with his hands tied to a metallic grill and his pants forcefully taken off.

In reaction to the teenager’s death, social media came out seeking justice. Celebrities such as Mahira Khan, Veena Malik and Armeena Khan also spoke on the issue.

“Oh my God my heart. How could they do that?? How could they kill a boy? Torture him? How did not a single person stop it!!! We have become so bloody desensitized we freaking record videos calmly while someone is beaten to death!!! #JusticeforRehan,” tweeted Mahira Khan.

“Saw some of the pictures & its horrific to say the least. We r a peace loving country. Authorities should take a look in this case & make sure to set example. So that no such cases happen in the future. How can people be so heartless, it's beyond my imagination. #JusticeforRehan,” said Veena Malik.

“To the poor teen from Bahadurabad who was killed mercilessly on a mere suspicion of burglary (just a suspicion). They tortured him for two hours and did not stop even though there was a call to prayer (azaan) in the background. #RIP kid, your crime is that you were born poor,” tweeted Armeena Khan.

Speaking to journalists, Rehan’s father said his son worked as a butcher during Eid-ul-Azha. He added that Rehan told him he was going to collect money from his work but never returned home.

Police have arrested the owner of the bungalow, Daniyal, and his friend, Zubair, in connection with the murder. Police further said they were carrying out further investigation into the incident.

These people are feral animals. Even if he was guilty, they shouldn't even allow a finger on him and turn him into the police.

This is one of the worst thing in subcontinent. People thrash culprits very hard. There is no fear of law and order in them.
Government should set example by giving strict punishments.

The guy at the time of his murder was wearing t shirt that read "Apna waqt bhi aayega" :(:(

Frustrated idiots taking out their frustration on weak unarmed kid.

Three more arrested for torture, murder of minor boy over suspected robbery in Karachi

KARACHI: Karachi police have arrested three more suspects in the murder of a teenage boy who was brutally tortured to death over accusations of stealing from a bungalow in the city's Bahadurabad area.

According to police, two alleged robbers attempted to enter a bungalow near Kokan Ground in Bahadurabad on Saturday. The security guard in the area caught one — identified as 17-year-old Rehan — while the other one managed to escape. However, the bungalow's owner and his neighbours tied the young boy by his hands and beat him up.

A video circulating on social media showed Rehan unable to move, with his hands tied to a metallic grill and his pants forcefully taken off, as the owners and others questioned him. The boy could be heard naming his alleged accomplices in the video, which was recorded by the owner and area residents. Pictures of the minor boy's dead body showed visible signs of torture.

In the latest development in the case on Monday, police said they had arrested three more suspects – Anas, Shahrukh, and Masood – after identifying them with the help of the video footage.

Police had already arrested the owner of the bungalow, Daniyal, and his friend, Zubair, on Saturday in connection with the murder.

A First Information Report (FIR) has been registered at the Bahadurabad police station on the complaint of Rehan's father Mohammad Zaheer.

Rehan's father earlier told reporters that his son worked as a butcher during Eid-ul-Azha. He said Rehan told him he was going to collect money for his work but never returned home.

Zaheer has also filed an application with police to include terrorism charges in the FIR against the suspects for attempting to spread terror by recording the video of his son's torture and putting it on social media.

The minor boy's funeral prayers were offered at a mosque in the Khudadad Colony area.

When there is NO law and order in the country then what do you expect will happen...Such cases are not rare just that many go unheard just because people are powerful and escape justice just because there is nobody to hold them against their crimes.

So sad to read about this.

The kid didn't deserve this at all.

I am most grateful for social media. 2 decades ago these animals would have gotten away with it.

These people are feral animals. Even if he was guilty, they shouldn't even allow a finger on him and turn him into the police.

That's the real issue.People do not trust the police . The police would either harass the victim or not do anything at all . Not condoning the behavior but no confidence in our police and justice system is why mob justice is a thing in Pakistan.

KARACHI: The father of teenage boy Rehan has sought an independent Joint Investigation Team (JIT) to probe the murder of his son.

Rehan was killed on Saturday after he was brutally tortured over accusations of stealing from a bungalow in Karachi’s Bahadurabad area.

In a petition to DIG Sindh, DG Rangers and Sindh’s Home Ministry, Rehan’s father has sought that the murder case is registered under the terrorism and cybercrime laws.

The petition further states that 14-year-old Rehan was kidnapped by Zubair, Daniyal and their friends. He was then tied up and filmed while being tortured.

Five suspects including Daniyal and Zubair are in police custody and a First Information Report (FIR) has been registered at the Bahadurabad police station.

Rehan's father earlier told reporters that his son worked as a butcher during Eid-ul-Azha. He said Rehan told him he was going to collect money for his work but never returned home

Investigation team in Bahadurabad lynching case arrested for extorting money from suspect's family

Karachi police on Saturday said Ferozabad Station Investigation Officer Farooq Azam and his team have been booked and arrested for allegedly extorting money from family members of a suspect in the Bahadurabad lynching case.

SSP East Ghulam Azfar Mahesar said in a statement that a case, number 245/2019, has been filed against the suspects under Articles 384 [punishment for extortion] and 385 [putting person in fear of injury in order to commit extortion] of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).

On Aug 17, an alleged teenage thief was beaten to death by angry people in the Bahadurabad area. According to the police, two suspects entered a home in Kokan Society apparently to commit a theft.

One of them escaped while inmates got hold of the other suspect. The bungalow owners and others who gathered there subjected him to severe beating before the arrival of police who took him into custody. The boy was taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, where he was pronounced dead. A police officer had said that the victim was aged around 16 or 17 years.

Later in the day, the deceased was identified as Rehan son of Zohair, resident of Khudadad Colony. According to his post-mortem examination, there were multiple injuries on his head and face caused by sticks and bats.

On the same day, police arrested two owners of the house on charges of killing the teenage suspect and filed a case. Meanwhile, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah took notice of the killing. The next day, police said that three more suspects had been arrested, bringing the total up to five.

According to the SSP on Saturday, the investigation team brought a suspect to his house, barged into the residence and harassed his family members.

"The investigation team reportedly received money from family members of the suspect. The matter is under investigation," the SSP said.

SIO Farooq Azam, Sub-Inspector Rehmat, Constable Shah Faisal and Ghulam Rasool have been nominated in the case, he said, adding that Ghulam Rasool has escaped.

He added that the investigation of the case would be carried out on merit and no leniency would be tolerated in this regard. Mahesar vowed that police would restore the confidence of people in the department.

Pathetic , but ironically this is why mob justice is a thing is Pakistan . Police harassing the victims instead of helping them . This is what you get when teh police in involved,to the people who were saying they should've handed him over to the police .
