If some Pakistani enters an Afghan restaurant with the intention of being abusive then it is only right they are given abuse and chased out.

I dont think now is the time for indians to go abroad. you guys are being targeted everywhere and goodluck coming to the US on an H1B.

Given everything that's going on, must be a difficult time to be brown in the US and not live in one of the immigrant hotspots like Silicon Valley, Tech Triangle, Seattle, Austin etc. One of my close friends lives in South Carolina for a decade plus now and is desperately looking to move.

I usually travel twice a year to the States and am seriously considering canceling this March. When I traveled in September last year, for the first time in a decade, I actually kept my passport on me just in case. Nothing happened and no masked ICE guy accosted me but I don't ever remember feeling nervous about this stuff.

The moment they get to know I am an Indian, and especially a purebred Brahmin Sanatani, the respect and warmth just grows visibly. They helped me many times and were always willing to do a lot more than they needed to. I received most respect and love from Russians and Afghans always.

Most Pakistanis in Texas are well off and are valuable customers, it makes no business sense for the owner to kick them out for no reason. You are thousands of miles away but have arrived at the right conclusion due to just using common sense.

DFW (Dallas-For Worth Area) has thousands of Pakistanees and probably close to half a million Muslims! No business (Afghan or otherwise) will survive because the community network is tight and any issues will be all over the Facebook groups, WhatsApp etc so no business can afford it.

Most Masjids have Halal Food Trucks (Pakistani and sometimes Afghan) after Jumuah and any discrimination will have a devastating impact because the "Muslim community" will react very negatively.

To me interacting with a Pakistani is just like interacting with some Punjabi, Sindhi or some bhayyaji from UP/Bihar. Some get along; some don’t and with some just professional Hi/hello.No different from interaction with anyone else form the subcontinent. Nothing to do with religion/ nationality etc (speaking for my experiences), more to do with the individual.

However Pakistanis find this difficult to accept but I have seen first hand the vitriol or hatred Afghanis have for Pakistan. I couldn’t beleive it at the start but I have seen it personally. The literally convulse with hatred at the mention of Pakistan. I thought it was personal at first but then later I saw the cricket matches, followed people on social media etc.

Pakistanis ( not all) themselves get so confused about this , first thing they bust out is anti-Hindu, anti-India jibes at Afghanis as a first line of defense mechanism/ cope.

They find it hard to process how can someone from ummah hate them so much. However only Pakistanis and maybe some Bangladeshis these days and a very few Indian Muslims probably stick to this ummah stuff. Most people have either national/ linguistic or ethnic pride.

I don’t like this crapola of brining South Asian rivalries to USA.

I judge people based on their character and behaviour. If a person is honest, talks in a civilised manner it doesnt matter to me what their race , ethnicity or religion is to me.

However if a person is a Muslim with those characteristics, its an automatic bond because we bow down to the Creator.

Pakistanis and Indians freely socialize in the US, especially those of us like me who have lived here for decades.

I have met some really Horrible Afghans with rude behavioral issues and many good ones - just as any other community. It has a lot to do with education (which starts from home), not nationality. It pretty much always cuts down to it. The more a society is uneducated, the more vile reaction from an action. Persians have generally looked down upon everyone else (Arabs, Turks, Indians etc) but the latest incarnation of Afghan hatred is actually Pushtun (Nationalism) but none of these reasons are actually valid, today.

I know that your deep seated hatred will prevent you from understanding any issues but during the British Colonial era, a lot of Indian Scholars tried to use Afghanistan as a backstop to Jihad against British and there are dozens of books on when Indians went to Afghanistan the state of the society (basic services etc)

The real reason for Afghans being angry is because civilization has passed them by and Indians and subsequently (Pakistani) Pushtuns have leapfrogged them. India was colonized, its education system (Persian based) its civil society and cohesion ripped apart turned upside down yet within a few generations Hindus first and then Muslims recovered.

Afghanistan is a tribal society and used to mercenary bouts and it never suffered the kind of damages the British inflicted upon India and yet it was basket case before perpetual wars and it is. Afghanistan also has little literacy (both in terms of Islam and normal sciences) and it shows.

Lar aw bar yaw Afghan is a manifestation of that anger.

Indian Government has spent millions weaponizing this sense of bereavement against Pakistan but sooner or later Afghans will turn against India as it is the way it is.

Vast majority of (ordinary) Afghans are low in literacy and are severally impacted by Lar aw bar yaw Afghan.

My experience with Pakistanis is limited to either corporate world or when I am playing cricket on sundays (my team is a mix of Indians and Pakistanis). So never put myself in a position to run into such toxic types.Even if someone feels such way internally, people maintain a decorum.

I do have 1 Pakistani family living in my community. They keep to themselves mostly. However no issues; they smile and wave when they run into you like good neighbors and I like to keep it that way.all good.

It depends on the social circles we live in or hang out with I guess. Maybe our environment is what translates to this rage online.
