The South African team under Donald and Pollock used to get smashed home and away both from Australia. Things improved for them under G Smith's captaincy.

Actually SA's record against OZ took a beating in their early days as a cricket playing nation. But you are right since readmission in 1992, SA didn't beat OZ in a test series until the 2008/09 series in OZ.

South Africa should have done better against Aus IMO.

SA before readmission was not strong side. After readmission, SA was a strong side, but Aus had the best ever side in the same period. SA and Aus having bounce helped as well for SA to not get any huge home advantage. Once the golden generation of Aus was no more, SA won.

Simply said conditions play a huge part. Even the great Aus team had issues in India and SL. That was just due to conditions.

Have Pakistan broken the record for the most consecutive losses in Australia?

Well, Pakistan have lost last 9 consecutive series in Aus and Overall, they have lost 10 out of 13 series they have played in Aus. Last time they drew a series in Aus was way back in 1979, and have lost every single series in Aus since then. So I don't see your point, the records I have posted are for home and away combined, not just away.

I am talking about most consecutive matches lost not series.

We have lost every single Test in Australia since winning in Sydney in 1995. Surely it has to be a record both in terms of time span as well as number of matches.

Imagine failing to even draw a single match in a country for 26 years and counting.

My my my :)))

Well, yeah, everyone knows Pak's embarrasing record in Aus since 1999, but atleast they have done well vs Aus at home, unlike SA, WI, NZL and SL, who have lost more series at home vs Aus, than they have won.

IMO, SA should have done better against Aus under Hansie Cronje, when they had a pace attack of Pollock,Donald and Fanie De Villiers. They were a very strong team under Cronje, but still lost to Aus both home and away.

Problem is that the same period had ATG side in opposition with similar strength. You can be strong, but if the other side is stronger in the same areas it becomes hard to beat the opposition. SA batting was a lot less strong than Aus.

India in 2001 and England in 2005 beat OZ, when their golden generation was still there, while SA had to wait till the retirements of Warne, Mcgrath, Gilchrist etc. to beat OZ. Thats why I rate the English and Indian sides of that period higher than SA.

Every test side have won lesser number of series against OZ, than the number of series they have lost, but thats hardly surprising given that OZ is greatest cricketing nation of all time.
