Pak Vs Srilanka |day4|1st Test

I wonder what score are SL aiming for. They dont seem to be very urgent about the run scoring suddenly after that 3 fours from a over.

Pak went into the game with only 3 bowlers what do they expect :)))

dont tell me afridi razzak malik are genuine bowlers this isn't ODI cricket

I think they will bat till just before tea, probably a total of 470 or so for Pakistan to chase.
 
Gul seems to be starting every over with a bouncer or short one. Predictable?

Agreed. Razzaq had a big hand in our win at Karachi.
Shoaib Malik on the other hand....
 
It might be interesting to see which players are effective against which team. And then arrange the squad that way. For instance Razzak seems to be the most dangerous bowler in the world when playing India. It might be a good method to determine which of the bits and pieces player shd be in the team. Everyone is happy.
 
if Sri Lanka does not declare half way though post-lunch session...it become too late for them... Accounting for the possibility of rain and apparently good batting pitch...they might let Pakistan off the hook..

I honestly don't think Pakistan can bat out 90 overs to save this game.

It is simple....
If there are swinging conditions.....play Razaq and drop Afridi
if the pitch has spin or is flat...play Afridi leave Razaq out.

Both Afridi and Razaq can't play in one test team continously....
Since Malik takes an openers spot...he can continue to play..
 
You know.....Sub Continent teams are deffo going to crash if they play for a draw. Everytime I see someone saying we shd play for a draw there is a collapse inspite of everyone trying to block block and block. Reason being slower bowlers thrive when people dont try to score off them.
Pak shd try to play positively and try to dent some opposition conf. Murali is not a bowler who can be blocked. Either you hit him outta the park like the Aussies did or you get out.

i agree....i mean most of our recent viictories have been miraculous and you do expect those to happen all the time... Pakistan has rarely won a test in which the dominated 70% of the game....only Lahore victory against Eng...another one doesn't come to mind in recent times.

i am trying to conclude that we play in short burst...not with continuity...on good days these bursts win us matches..on others we remain short.

Pakistan will have to play out of their skins to salvage a draw. At the moment, looks like Pak is going to go into the next test one down.
 
Guys this is getting a bit tedious now. You really need Shoiab to rattle these guys. In fact Sami should be in the team even if he doesnt do well. He does do a bit of rattling as well. Disturb the concentration.
 
the ball has started to spin aswell...not good signs....
we need rain...and some rain of boudaries from afridi in the top to restore confidence in the rest of the lineup...
Pakistan should not play for a draw..but players like younis and faisal can play at slow rates solidly...

We need a combination of all the tricks in bag with some luck from this game...or we are going lose points in the test table.
 
Well, anytime someone needs a change in the proceedings ask me to comment on it :) Soon as I say it's getting boring, both players start hitting out
 
Let's hope this doesn't mirror the ind-pak karachi test any more closely. Look what happened to india there - 2nd biggest loss in their history
 
Just woke up and logged on to check the score....MAN I FEEL WORSE THAN I DID YESTERDAY!!!

What the HELL are these Lankans doing to us! Man, I thought they were our friends....bloody hell, they're POUNDING us. So far only ONE wicket today.

To all those who reckon we're gonna save this match...bloody wake up and smell the lankans!

I'M SOooooooooo GUTTED! I can just hear the rest of the world laughing at us...egging the lankans on. MAn we should have dropped em like an easy catch when we had our chance (we're good at dropping easy catches!). Now they're gonna mess us up!

This doesn't look to good for Pakistan, what Inzamam should do now try getting the declaration late as possibel. We should try bowling very tight drying up the runs they will look for some quick runs. At the other we should get some wickets to get some hope back. This will help us alot in the second innigng.

BTW the weather is getting worst on the last day ! So it will be very difucult to get the full day for the sri lankans !

what makes you beleive that Afridi will score and rest will not...The guys name is Afridi...he is the least likely guy to score big...U r probably taking Afridi to be the Sachin of 90's...

well all said....Afridi might make a 100 but yet i repeat it is least likely.
 
The batting order should be the same as the first innings, except for Inzi coming in before Iqbal.

Pakistan should look to replicate the type of innings Sri Lanka has forged. A mixture of caution and calculated aggression, not foolish abandonment in reckless shots.

The scorecard is so depressing I am avoiding to check the score in the office. There is no other ongoing cricket to take your mind off. I just hope that our batsmen fight it out when the inevitable declaration comes around and put a value on their wicket unlike the first innings. Are we missing the pace of Akhter and dare I say it Sami?

well yes we are missing some pace aswell...

but consider that we are playing 3 specialist bowlers...Asif has 3 tests before this one, Gul has played 5/6 before...third is kaneria with some experience...

We are not only short on speialist bowlers, but short on experience aswell.

I am amazed and dissappointed with some calls made against Gul that he isn't good. He is very good..He needs some experience...some of us immature as cricket fans...
 
we are still an inconsistent side but are improving..wins and losses need to be taken as learning curves
 
how stupid is this? bring shoaib malik into the bowling now, i dont care even if he picks 6 wickets in 6 balls now...........malik needs to open the innings shortly should be resting in the field rather bowling and tiring his body...pathetic
