Pakistan’s current ODI XI v recently dropped ODI XI

Found this on Reddit, very interesting teams.

I recon the dropped/discarded lot will wipe the floor with the current XI 9/10 times.

Some tweaks in the discarded XI…maybe add Usman Khan and Tayyab Tahir in the middle. Replace Sarfaraz with Muhammad Harris, but I guess Sarfaraz’s captaincy is the key here.

What do you think?

Trust me mate Dahani will still get smashed by those lot in the picked XI. He’s mentally too weak to bowl against Rizwan/Babar.


That’s the thing with Bobsy. He is a king for these kind of bowlers in their head
 
The dropped XI would make the selected lot sh!t their pants well before the toss and would rag doll them, 5-0 in an ODI series

With your tweaks, Dropped 11 wipes the floor with current 11.

However as is, Theyll lose. Unless we are assuming a prime Haris sohail and Prime sarfi as well as a prime hasan ali, Dropped 11 will lose.

Haris sohail is injured, Sarfi is old now, Hasan ali is a run machine and with shadab, Thays 20 overs of butchering. Chacha is also useless.

Actually hmm? Current 11 is also not right cause KG isn't playing? Hmm

Idk, Abdullah, Saim, Babar and rizzu will instantly fall to Imad and amir as well?

Uhhh, Tbh bro idk, Dropped 11 and Current 11 are neck and neck.

But with the tweaks you've made, Dropped 11 wins easily. Usman Khan and tayyab replacing Imam and Chacha is a huge huge difference maker.

dropped XI was good if it was 2017. Some of these guys qualify to play in retired legends league

I don't think it's as obvious as people are making it out to be. Without your changes, if it's as the picture says, then the Current XI eats the Dropped XI for lunch, dinner, and breakfast the next day. The bowling for both sides is poor overall, but be realistic, Imam, Haris Sohail, Sarfi, Ifti, are not making ANNYYYY runs. Whereas you see how well Saim, Babar, Rizwan, Agha, Irfan, etc., bat against Pak bowlers in domestic tournaments, PSL, etc.

If you're talking prime then of course the Dropped XI would murder the current lot. But right now, ain't no way.
 
I think the current team would beat that team.

However, this team would be the one to win.

Your so out of touch with pakistan domestic
Iftikhar just hit a 107 and a 76 just within the last few days and Imam also has a century to his name.

Babar just been Dropped for averaging 21 in tests, rizwan and saim both struggled in the recent tests

Chacha and Imam are domestic performers . Problem is their intent. They play in the exact same fashion which is unsuitable to international standards.

The best thing I can say about Imam and Chacha is that Imam is 100x the player Abdullah is excluding wc 2023.

However imam's 30 of 150's in test are not needed, and his horrific playstyle in whiteball is laughable to watch.

Chacha should have been tried for test, he sucks in odi and t20.

This is pakistan vs Pakistan in Pakistan so technically its domestic not an international game.

Yes but I still believe dropped 11 loses.

However with the changes rana mentioned, Dropped 11 smokes current 11. Usman Khan and tayyab are too much for the current 11

No chance brother. Current 11 + 2-3 changes and we have a strong team surely.

You're right, I was thinking of Ifti in internationals and how dud he is. I still don't have any hope in Imam, and I still think the batting of current XI against that bowling lineup demolishes. With the proposed changes from OP however, things could be different. But with the listed lot, I don't see Dropped XI beating Current XI. In a 5 match series, it would probably be 4-1
 
This is a great thread idea. We're always comparing teams of diff eras but this gives us a look at the PCT in the same era and all the players in the present rotation.
 
I wish they would select the best Xi from both of these sides, however. What a team this would be:

Fakhar
Saim
Babar
Saud
Irfan Niazi
Agha
Rizwan
Imad Wasim
Amir
Naseem
Wasim Jr


Firepower at the start, solid anchoring + stroke-making in the middle, hitting ability until 11.
 
Imam ul haq... 90's mentality, for Babar and riz you are against them.. Bcoz of stat pading... Then why favouring this parchi..
Haris Sohail....... Fitness issue
Shadab Khan....... A club level cricketer... Simply pathetic, I can't select in club team
Sarfaraz Ahmad..... If he had some self respect, he would have retired with grace..
Iftikhar Ahmad.... Worest
Hasan Ali........ What he has done to earn a comeback
Mohammad Haris.... Two over cricketer, he should have been selected for hong Kong sixes, that's his level.
Imaad wasim..... His ego and greed for money is his prblm
M Aamir.... Ego problem

Only Fakhar Zaman is unfairly dropped

Some bad moments are too great to be forgiven. No one concedes 19 runs in a Super Over vs USA with 3 wides. Let alone someone who was championed for his temperament and ability to deliver in big moments.

It all proved to be a myth and Amir and his fans will never get away with this. It will define his legacy.

Imam ul haq the goat along with chacha the greatest finisher and shadab the superstar all-rounder.Hasan ali the great and few other legends of game. LOL

What a team.I wish they had send these guys to Australia. LOL

Only fakhar zaman is unfairly dropped as fakhar is the best player in the team.

Wasim jnr was quite impressive but he is injured so he can't be selected.

That's the beauty of Pakistan cricket fans.

The moment players gets dropped, he automatically gets the legend tag and people be like we have lost another gem.

All these mediocre players like Ifti, Shadab, Imam, Hassan, Imad have played more 100 games and were part of multiple World cups in past. But what have they done ?

The only players who is dropped unfairly is Fakhar Zaman, rest are tried and test failures, there addition/removal will have 0 impact on the Australia series.

According to some posters, the players continuously playing and losing to the likes of USA and Ireland are the only options as there are no Ponting’s and Tendulkar’s in the domestic set up.

They argue that the current failures have earned their right to fail for as long as they want.

Current squad will easily win, the dropped XI has a 35 year old Haris Sohail, 'mentally tough' Imad and Amir, 2024 Hasan Ali, 2024 Shadab Khan.

Easy win for current squad.

But what exactly is current XI
 
I for one would love to see a best of 5/7 between the two teams, one match at every stadium in Pakistan for the fans
 
Dropped XI has some duds like chacha, Hassan ali but they’d still wipe the floor with the minnows.
