When to introduce the WK? How to develop them? Who should it be given that it will most likely be needed as a number 4, 5, or 6. Will Sarfaraz be too old? Is Rizwan good enough to persist with? Should Rohail or Haris be brought into the side?

I mean if Rohit gets to play the 2023 WC, Abid should also play it as his last ICC tournament. He reminds me of SRT. Makes you think how good he could have been if given chance 15 years earlier. Haider has always been an opener tho, but I could see them playing him at #4 and doing the same mistakes as the previous management before Mickey came in, who played Babar at #5 or #6. Abdullah Shafique reminds me a lot of VK, whereas Hasan Mohsin seems like a carbon copy of H Pandya. But let’s be honest neither Abdullah or Hasan are going to get chances in the PSL or not even domestic because Pakistan Cricket is all about pleasing seniors. Hurraira will eventually make it, because if his ties to Shoaib Malik.

Rizwan is by far the best option. He is young, an excellent wicket-keeper and has shown character with the bat. Both in that one innings in Australia and the ODI series in UAE last year where he scored two centuries. Not to forget, he has amassed a mountain of runs in domestic cricket to earn a place in the side.

The only problem is that he doesn't seem to have any hitting-ability. But he does seem like one of those players who can come in at No. 4 and just rotate the strike and milk the spinners during the middle-overs. For him, the ideal position would be No. 4 with Haris coming in at 5.

Don't think he should be selected for T20Is though. Has an absolutely horrible record that does not inspire hope.

Not sure how good a keeper he is but guy surely has some stroke making ability with the bat and if he works hard can be the a decent finisher. Hopefully gets a domestic contract soon to sharpen his game and PSL contract as well to come into limelight.

For 2023 WC it has to be Rizwan in my opinion until something extreme happens or some of the young keeper really set the stage on fire and there arent many.

Rizwan has 11 List A 100s at an avg of 49, he is now a player who is well developed, young as well as reasonably experienced and a good keeper along with being a team player. You have to make maximum use of a player you develop unless someone much superior is available.

I think Rizwan is ok for the wicket keeping role, however it ultimately comes down to the team combination. If Pakistan can InshAllah get a couple of smashers in lower down the order, between 5, 6 and 7, Rizwan becomes a shoo-in in the middle order. But in a team of accumulators, he's just another accumulator. Its harsh on him but that is how people view it.

This is why it'll be interesting to see the development of both Mohammed Haris and Rohail Nazir. Folks on here have already passed judgement on Rohail, but he has room to grow. The PCB has a role to pkay here, as the quality of technical, and mental strength coaching these lads receive could be the difference maker come 2023.

Other options include a new-ish keeper like Zeeshan Ashraf, but he needs more performances in Domestic to enhance his claim.

A left field choice may be a batsmen repurposed as a keeper. It's been done to limited success by Rahul Dravid in the past and also Umar Akmal. Maybe a Fakhar Zaman or a Khushdil Shah might be the solution? At the very least, they would have enough time to develop to a decent level by 2023. It's very unlikely but just thinking aloud here.

3 years is a long time his reflexes could drop significantly and your acting like hes played 2 world cup already lol.and that's true if he was 25 ish then I would defo have him in the team.he has been a opener majority of his career but he batted in psl at in middle and be bashed all the spinners.abdullah shifque is good but I believe he would be better in tests.hasnt Hasan had opportunity on psl I fought he did.i fink abdullah and hassan will play domestic misbah said hes keeping an eye on abdullah.he may have ties to Malik but hes stil decent enough to get into the squad

People wanting Rizwan will see that Pakistan will remain a mediocre batting unit as long as he is around.
