Pakistan (146/9) secure a 41-run victory against UAE (105) and qualify for the Super Four of the Asia Cup 2025

With Pakistan set to face the UAE in the 10th Group A clash at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on September 17, the group standings remain delicately poised. India have already secured qualification with two wins, while Pakistan and UAE are tied on two points each.

However, reports suggest Pakistan may consider pulling out of the tournament in protest over the no-handshake controversy with India. If that happens, the United Arab Emirates would automatically progress to the next stage, joining India from Group A, while Pakistan’s campaign would end prematurely.

Anybody who could’ve replaced Haris or Saim from the squad is in the xi already. Poor strategy and squad selection.

I mean what if uae beats pakistan then whole asia cup india pakistan match will all be gone and in t20 waseem or other guy asif khan can change the game you never know.
 
Are they boycotting or playing the match ? @Cricket Warrior whats the update.

I think Pakistan is scared of facing india on Sunday so they May boycott this match and knockout from the tournament.

Have to give chance to khushdil and Hussain talat to see which one of two can be added for india game.
Drop faheem and hasan Nawaz.

Muqeem I would keep as harder for UAE to handle but then drop for india.
 
So what does everyone think Haris continues at 3 or back to tri-series batting order?

I favour the order pak had in the tri-series because it allowed most batters to play at or near their preferred positions.

He seems more suited to #3. He did well in that position.

But that gives Fakhar, Agha and Hassan fewer and fewer balls who all like to settle.

Haris on the other hand doesn’t need too many balls to settle once, and if, he gets going. His strength might be at 3 but to disrupt the whole team balance just to utilise his ability has proved to be not the best strategy in my opinion.

If not #3, he should be dropped in my opinion.

His record outside of #3 is very bad.

There is no keeper replacement in the squad so we have to work with the resources we have right now.

Hassan is clearly uncomfortable at 6. He could be dropped on form, Saim could be, Faheem could be but there are no like for like replacements.

So in my opinion going back to tri-series winning formula is the prudent option.
 
Didn't pakistan say they won't participate if match official wasn't changed? How come they are playing? Though super 4 would be IND/UAE/SL and BD/AFG depending on what happens during SLvAFG

You're just being unfair. He was man of the match in the first game and got out to the worlds best bowler in the 2nd.

I think you should respect the fact that even India felt the need to bowl Bumrah to Haris as they knew he is the greatest threat of the tournament.

Uae is a worse cricket team but logically how is it temu Pakistan? UAE as a country is superior to India and Pakistan both lol.

The Arabs just don't care about developing cricket beyond making money from small time leagues. Their too focused on making Dubai a virtual Heaven.

It's no Visa Arabia. Their are more indians in UAE then Pakistani lol. And 2x the amount of Saudi and people of Arabian decent.

Coming back to cricket, UAE could be the best team in the world and rule cricket if the arabs actually cared.

This is the same family that can force WWE and Tko a corporation far richer and larger then ICC and force them out of America to host their biggest event in Saudi Arabia.

But none of the arab family will ever sully their hands in cricket cause they don't see a point to it. Cricket doesn't attract attention.

Despite 1B followers the no is skewed due to an Indian and Pakistani and Asian following. Take these 2 countries out and the number goes to 10-40M max.
 
Should surely be an emphatic win for PCT regardless of what happened few days ago. Pakistan are levels above UAE in Cricket even at their lowest point.

The batters must put up a good show to gain some much needed confidence ahead of the toughest matches ahead.
 
Four hours until Pakistan are scheduled to take the bus for today’s game and fate of the match remains uncertain.

We should win this comfortably if we don't some serious questions will be raised we are not match for top teams but we are way above likes of uae.

- Fakhar has a good record at 4
- Hassan Nawaz is better suited to 6 but can come in at 5 depending on the situation
- Agha's batting right now isn't good for any position. He needs to produce an innings of note at a rapid strike-rate. But he is more than capable of batting at 5.

No. 6 is way too low of Hasan. He should be coming at 4, or 5 max.
 
Its all pressure tactics by both sides. Naqvi is playing media games. Eventually the match will happen. Pak cant afford to lost such amount and icc dont want to have issue with the broadcasters
 
Apparently PCB wants Pycroft gone for the whole tournament.

Even if he is gone, India won't shake if Pak make it to the next round.

What is the point?

Just play or boycott.
 
Embarrassing ... thats what happens when historically great cricketing nations are sidelined. Looking for crumbs, playing lowly sides and stressing about results, lack of exposure to superior teams, fall in talent, intentional sabotage ....and so on.

We will beat uae. Dunno why people are stressing. Have we ever even lost to them. As evidenced in previous matches against these sort teams, sure we may not post massive totals against them. Then again we might. But they can’t really bat well against us.

My only concern is the situation that is developing off the field.

That can take a hit on players as fuel or additional water to drown in. If the players have the off field situation on their mind and the game against India then their focus cannot be 100% at the current game.

More than skills, this game is now a Test for the captain, management and players on how they come about in this game with all the background noise.
 
It will be a difficult game for Pakistan specially if they lose the toss and asked to bat first. They may need to score 175+.

True, we should have just moved on from the India game without making a big fuss. The loss was expected as was the Indian drama after the game. There was no need to react and get distracted.
