Pakistan (146/9) secure a 41-run victory against UAE (105) and qualify for the Super Four of the Asia Cup 2025

I think this total should be enough against UAE, but Pakistan have to significantly improve or they won't win a single game in the super 4.
 
Shaheen deserves to lead the side tbh . Given his PSL success and experience now . He should have been leading . Loser Naqvi sacked him after a series

He has completely changed his approach in batting in this Asia Cup. He was positive in the Tri Series. Don't know why he has changed his approach

It was Zaka Ashraf. He was actually the man to damage Pakistan Cricket the most in recent times.

Junaid and Rohid ran in trying to bowl yorkers like peak Waqar. Very poor stuff. Should've just looked to hit that back of the length with cross seam/pace off.

Snuffed out whatever chance they had to surprise PAK.

I think he should drop the idea of no. 8 batter and put Shaheen there.

Yeah Rohid blew it with his last over. Puzzling tactics considering Siddiqui found so much success by taking the pace off the ball

These guys did something similar in the tri-series match against Pakistan

PCT hardly ever loses when everyone expects them to lose, just looking for a close game we have had only 2 good games this Asia cup.

For this tournament yes. Otherwise I support a number 8 who can bat well. Abbas Afridi is perfect for this role.

Talat is useless. Even parchi Faheem is more talented than Talat.

Opening is harder to fave upfront because the ball seams more at the start while Shaheen is facing the old ball.

However given PP rules 1-6, no loss of wickets and especially batting first their is zero pressure + you're a specialist opening batsmen, a tail ender should not be outperforming you.

Especially when said opener has been hacked as a generational talent
 
Honestly, these pak batters are barely club level let alone international level.

To not have Rizwan and Babar is turning out to be laughable

Mate Saim is a walking wicket right now. Zero confidence

You can’t go wrong with trying something different and just asking the bloke to swing from the hips
 
Rubbish batting baring fakhar and Shaheen. And even then on the whole rubbish.

However I think this is enough runs to get the win. UAE will struggle batting likely.

What can go worse? We are going to lose a wicket in the first over anyways. At least Saim might get some ghairat being shoved down!

Shaheen will fail as an opener easily. Better to have Hasan Nawaz Open as he's done it before and slot haris at no 3.

Or have Fakhar open, Slot Haris at 3, Hasan Nawaz 4, Agha slotted down to 5.

I mentioned it in the past.

Shaheen can be promoted up the order and used as a pinch-hitter. SL used to use Chaminda Vaas like that in the 90's/2000's.
 
UAE top two batsmen are in good form and strike the ball well. Pakistan need them to get out early.

I just feel Nawaz, Saim and Farhan are mentally shot at the moment.

I don’t understand who’s conditioning them mentally.

They are not looking like their confident selves.

The way Shaheen is batting if he performs with the ball like he did in tri series he could be the next T20 captain for Pakistan.. his batting in T20 have improved a lot . He was treating Hardik Pandya and Varun Chakraborty other day like ordinary bowler while all others were struggling.
 
Waseem and Sharafu are not really better than anyone in the Pakistan team besides Agha maybe as a T20 batter


But they have confidence
 
Shaheen has to bowl and bat lol , only recognizable face in the current lot.

Been saying this for a while. Unless you have a hitter of the caliber of Pandya or Razzaq it’s always better to go with specialist bowlers who can hit. Most days even tailenders can hack their way to 15-20 runs at the end so it’s always better to have 4 specialist bowlers. We have Shaheen and Abbas Afridi who can both be very capable no 8s. Faheem without bowling is pointless at 8.
 
Beautiful short by Sharafu . The guy is one of the key player for UAE along with Waseem and Asif Khan

Babar yea, Rizwan for captaincy don't see any difference he could had made here except for maybe captaincy, also Babar 2.0 is struggling.
