What's new

Pakistan (207/1) defeat New Zealand (204) by 9 wickets in the third T20I game to keep the series hope alive

Bracewell seeing stars!

That’s what we want to see!
Man oh man, they seem to be crying internally. Damn. They missing our lejunds, most important players Rizbar. They missing those easy wins. @RedwoodOriginal damn bruh, please raise your voice against this tyranny?

Nice to actually have a captain who you can actually understand when he is interviewed...also doing double duties as a translator

Thank God we will get rid of Babar’s cover drive reels on tik tok.. i was so sick of them. Nawaz gave it to saya corp today

I wasnt. I did my best to keep you guys awake.
Haha . I knew those were frauds but we had to see that torture for so long . That win against India in 2021was big lanat which happened on Pakistan cricket

Fakhar the only guy I want to see these players lifting on their shoulders the day he retires

Our only Ray of hope in times of poverty

He deserves it, genuine modern great, he should be carried off the pitch!

I am just thinking what if it was the other way around, NZ winning by 9 wickets in 16 overs. That would have been devestating and demotivating. Ouff feel for the KIWI fans here.

Wow...brilliant chase....
Nawaaz - a new star is born...
congratulations to all PP pak fans from india - amazing stuff and hats off...
if the new guys play with this kind of spirits, no reason why your team cannot rise again...:)

Only reason our tullaybaaz failed in previous matches was extreme bounce. This was relatively easier wicket and they performed. Guys like Hassan, Harris, Haider are far more useful in Asian conditions.

@gazza619 brain liver kidney heart all pointed to Pakistan win today. When the intent is right and heart is in the right place to play selfless cricket, results eventually come.
Huge shoutout to @Rana for fighting the injustice of Rizwan, Babar and Misbah Ul Haq.. He never gave up to play cricket with right intent which Rizwan and Babar completely forgot.. @RyanRyan10 also for always speaking the truth.

But they'll learn won't they by playing in these conditions

Credit to Agha for supporting nawan Nawaz and not being tempted to drop him after just two scoreless games. Let's hope Pakistan give him plenty of chances to establish himself as he could still fail in his next two games or even even next two series, but like Saim selectors should look at his potential like they did with Saim and keep faith. Pakistan need to now unearth a good pacer and a good spinner as Abrar is average at best. Perhaps Suffain could be the answer for spin, and in long term Arafat should replace Khushdil or Shadab.

I'm just happy we persisted with them for the 3rd game. This has been a long story in Pakistan. Not giving new players a fair chance at their actual positions. It's always like 1 game as opener then dropped then 2 games at 5 then dropped then few games at 7 and so on till they amass a poor record and nobody realizes where it went wrong.

This win puts so much in perspective. If we had batted 1st here with rizbab and reached 175 at a comfortable pace, they'd have been happy and our fans too would've thought it's a fighting total. Then put all blame on bowlers then rinse repeat.

This is why I and others are preaching patience.

It's all about intent. Today the top 3 showed they can take over a game. And this is without Saim.

Also, patience goes both ways; it means staying patient when young players do poorly but also when they do well. Nawaz is not suddenly the greatest T20I batsman of all time now either. Let him and Haris gain confidence because consistency will come with time.

If Nawaz comes out and struggles next game, don't start calling him a "fluke" batsman out of impatience.

As for today, it was a high-quality chase and the right way to bat in a small ground.

At the end need to give credit to hasan nawaz after two failures he must have been under pressure to perform and he did it in style well done indeed.

All the pointless RizBar bashers need to understand this is the point we were too dependent on those 2 . They neeeded players like this around them. These 2 opening with Babar at 3 would be great. Also the consistency which those 2 provided in the past cannot be forgotten. You can applaud new players without referring to Babar just fyi.

End of Rizbar T20 careers!
They should respectfully retire before it’s too late

They will try to pull some snake moves behind the scenes to come back…and then they will embarrass themselves again if they are successful in returning.

There is a serious amount of work that needs to be done in Test cricket. That’s where their heads should be at right now!

I called for Rizwan to be thrown out of the T20 team last year. Surprised to see you have gone minutes without attributing this success to Mohsin Naqvi

No, the selection of the T20 squad breathed life in disheartened Pakistan fans. The true ones that is.
The only game I missed cause I was busy.

But kudos to you bro. Also I'm seeing highlights, very clean hitting by nawaz. This guy is so young and he plays spin better then Babar and rizwan combined 🤣

It was a breath of fresh air to see Pakistan play a modern and attacking brand of T20 cricket. I just hope the team management has the patience to persist with the young players and not chop and change after a couple of series. In the past, we saw them do this in a T20I series against Afghanistan and then next series it was back to the same players. Fans are a big part of the problem too, writing off young players after a few failures and labeling them as 'hacks' who don't have what it takes. Hopefully they have the common sense not to indulge in that kind of stuff. Young players have it hard enough with social media and toxic Pak cricketing media at their throats. Hoping for the failure of certain players just because your favorite players aren't in the team doesn't make you a real fan. At the end it has to be about what benefits Pakistan.

You add Saim Ayub, Fakhar Zaman and Haider Ali to this team, and it will start looking like a very dangerous batting line-up. In the bowling, I hope Abbas Afridi is trusted a bit more. Because based on form he has been Pakistan's best T20I bowler in the last year. There is an acknowledgement across spaces that Babar and Rizwan do not fit into this T20 team anymore. Hopefully that continues to be the case going forward.

100% this is the first series I looked forward to in a while because of the on point selection for white ball cricket.
We must now go toe to toe with with world. Enough of safety first negativity under weasel words like “consistency”. Lets normalize explosiveness

What is missing still is spin bowling all rounder like Qasim Akram or Arafat Minhas

What are the best middle order options for us?
Hassan Haris Fakhar Saim top order seems set

I'm not sold on Qasim Akram's bowling ability. Arafat Minhas is definitely a young talent worth investing in. As is Mehan Mumtaz. I think Mehan can be fantastic in T20I. His bowling reminds me of Imad's bowling a bit, only he is quicker.

Haven't felt this excited in a long time. I hope all the bozos who brought the knives out after game 1 are beating themselves. They're the reason that Pak hadn't developed. It's the mindset that they carry with them. Let's keep it going boyz. No more 40 in 6 overs hopefully

Hasan Nawaz speaking during the post-match press conference:

About the pressure after getting out on zero in the first two matches:

“When I got out in those two matches, I was constantly thinking about how things are in Pakistan and the expectations. But then, as Salman Ali Agha and Shadab Khan backed me, saying they knew about my skills and trusted that whenever I would play, I’d win matches for the team, I held on to that belief. Today, too, I focused on getting that first single in international cricket to release the pressure, and once I got that, everything fell into place, and I played my game”

About playing in New Zealand's conditions:

“Our mindset was simply to attack, just like the cricket played by other nations, and we wanted to emulate that style of fearless cricket. Even if we fail initially, the goal was to play cricket without fear.”

About the best shot he played today:

“The one I hit straight down the ground off Jimmy Neesham to bring up my fifty—that felt like my best shot of the innings.”

About scoring against pacers or spinners in such conditions:

“It’s slightly easier against spinners here, while pacers tend to get some extra bounce, which is unfamiliar for us since domestic pitches back home are lower in bounce. After the first two matches, I sat down and thought about where I was going wrong. I worked on that and went in with a plan today. Alhamdulillah, it worked out successfully.”

About the conversation with Salman Ali Agha about getting the century:

“He did suggest it, but I told him to go ahead and finish the match. I wasn’t focused on getting the century. Insha'Allah, I can achieve that again in the future. I told him to win the game, and if it was destined for me, it would happen.”

Background and this journey:

“I come from a middle-class family in Layyah, with no prior cricketing background. I performed well in all three formats this season, which earned me this opportunity to represent Pakistan. I’m thankful to selectors like Hasan Cheema, who called and messaged me after I got out twice, reminding me of my potential and assuring me that I could do it. Such support from the selectors played a significant role, and I’m grateful for it.”

About role of team management and coaches in building confidence:

“Aaqib Javed Bhai told me even before the first match that regardless of how many failures I faced, I’d continue playing. That kind of confidence from the management allows players to overcome challenges and give their best.”

About his performance:

“It was undoubtedly a team effort. Over the past four to five days, we worked hard, learned from our mistakes, and improved. I dedicate this century to my father—may Allah bless him with a long life.”

You what I think Mubasir Khan would actually be a really good addition. Guys a good all-rounder and mentally strong

Hasan Nawaz's record century keeps Pakistan's T20 series alive against New Zealand

Opening batter Hasan Nawaz achieved his maiden and Pakistan's fastest T20I century as the visitors comfortably chased a 205-run target with nine wickets in hand and 24 balls to spare at Eden Park, Auckland, on Friday night.

Pakistan’s chase began with an explosive 74-run stand in 5.5 overs as Mohammad Haris contributed a fiery 41 off 20 balls before falling to Jacob Duffy. Hasan, who hammered 10 fours and seven sixes in his unbeaten 105 off 45 deliveries, forged an unbroken 133-run partnership with skipper Salman Ali Agha, marking the third-highest partnership for Pakistan in T20Is.

Breaking Babar Azam’s previous record, Hasan achieved his century in just 44 balls, while Salman remained unbeaten on 51 off 31 balls, hitting six fours and two sixes. The victory also marked Pakistan’s second-highest chase in T20Is.

Earlier, Pakistan opted to bowl first after winning the toss and reduced New Zealand to 58-2 during the powerplay. Mark Chapman powered the Black Caps with a stunning 94 off 44 balls, aided by Michael Bracewell’s 31 off 18. Despite Chapman’s efforts, New Zealand stumbled to 204 all out in 19.5 overs.

Haris Rauf shone with the ball for Pakistan, claiming 3-29, while Mohammad Abbas Afridi, Shaheen Shah Afridi, and Abrar Ahmed bagged two wickets each.

To be fair i know we looked headless chickens and tail enders in first two T20s i think that was due to losing tosses even rauf and shaheen bowled good when bowling first. Jamieson and co were unplayable when bowling first yet we kept on slogging so some benefit of doubt should be given to them

In case somebody missed the fireworks from hasan. That was an absolute carnage

Finally a 21st Century white-ball batting performance from Pakistan. For years we've had to put up with prehistoric rhetoric about anchoring, consolidation etc.

That said I hope this isn't a one off. Let's see how these guys fare on a normal sized ground as Eden Park is an anamoly.

NZ now know they're in a contest at least.
