What's new

Pakistan (284/5) defeat West Indies (280) by 5 wickets in first ODI match to lead the 3-match series 1-0

not something new. they always struggle with SR in limited over cricket against all teams.
Babar and Rizwan both scored a similar number of runs at a similar strike rate.

They scored 100 runs off 133 balls combined. That equates to a strike rate of 75. If they are struggling against West Indies in a bilateral contest, how can we expect them to deliver against the best first string bowling attacks? - that too in ICC tournaments

They had to lay the platform. This was not a IPL or BPL pitch where they could come and smack sixes in 50m boundaries. They set the platform perfectly for the finishers. Either of the two would have finished it had they stayed on for a while.

The pitch might have been hard to bat on however a strike rate of 70/80 is not good enough.

It wasn't a hard pitch to bat on if 280+ is being scored.

Just cause their was a good amount of spin doesnt make it a hard pitch imo. These sorts of pitches are standard in Asian and WI conditons.

what's the average scores in Asia or in WI conditions.

Hope you enjoyed the match winning contributions of RizBar.

Babar Played Again for Milestones

He started Very Slow.. Too many dot Balls and then he got some balls to drive so his fans can make some reels

he was 44 from 51 Balls.. so milestone is close.. He Starts playing dots. next Eleven balls he spends trying to knock it around but fails to find Gaps. This is evident Enough that he is onr selfish dude whose personal milestones have always been important. Kills the momentum and eventually falls to nothing shot. A left arm spinner and Bbaar gifting away his wicket is similar sight we have seen too many times. His inability to play sweep shot against Spin is glaring even 10 years into career

47 off 64 Balls.. Includes 5 Fours and 1 Six. Which means he scored 26 runs out 47 in 6 balls.. Remaining 58 Balls he scored 21 Runs which means Minimum 35 dot Balls a very high percentage. Reason he is unable to convert starts into big scores… INABILITY TO FIND GAPS FOR ONES AND TWOS WHICH IS MOST IMPORTANT PART IN MIDDLE OVERS

That's not relevant. I am talking about this match only.

Its common knowledge that both wi and Pakistan are poor batting sides atm. A much stronger batting side in NZ, SA, Aus, England and India would have scored more then 280 here.

It is not just Riz-Bar but the whole batting order that struggles with strike rotation. They cannot hit the ball into gaps and milk ones and twos, which is the hallmark of any decent ODI batsman

They can either play big shots or Tuk Tuk /freeze and then get out

but one would expect Babar to be class above. His fans call him King

Talat performance was great yesterday, don't know was it a once in a blue moon stuff or real change in his stance. Came to know, he was also among top scorers in recent champions One day cup

Babar can only play the anchor role (much like Miandad and Inzi did during the latter part of their careers) now. Other batters should look to bat around him and work on rotating the strike better (including Riz-Bar)

Babar is a limited player.. If you dnt give him bad ball or width to free his arms , He has no release shot.. Oppositions have found him out. They will put Fielders on both sides and bowl straight to him.. He will freeze.. His Comparison with Modern Greats is unjustified unless he drastically improves his Game.. My advice to him is to start practicing sweep shot against Spin

People literally wanted Inzi and Miandad dropped by then lol.

All 2007 propaganda was asking for Miandad to be dropped since he was clearly washed up by then, same case with Miandad.

Classic Inzi and Classic Miandad are far superior batters then Babar was even at peak.

Babar is overhated but even at absolute peak he was matching Joe Root as an Odi batter. The likes of Warner, QDK, Kohli, Eoin Morgan etc etc were all clearly superior to him.

Their are players who were good vs spin and didnt play sweep shot that much.

His issue isnt the sweep shot, his issue is he's crap against spin. He can't read spin, it's blatantly obvious that he pre meditates drives or coming infront of the wicket to loft and doesnt have a clue on how to actually read finger or wrist spin.

Agree 100%. Even prime Zaheer Abbas, Saleem Malik, and Mohammad Yousuf are better ODI batsmen than Babar.

Sweep Shot is a ploy for those players whi cant play spinners. He is crap against Spin thats why he needs to play sweep to make up for his inability to read spin or judge length

Babar is a temu knock off ove Yousuf.

Yousuf would go missing during crunch times but his technique still made him a very solid odi and test batter even if he wasnt an ATG batsmen.

Babar had obvious technical flaws that makes him useless in tests and in odi he will obviously struggle in the middle overs against spin.

Babar is Mediocre batter who would put away bad balls and struggle against good ones.

He Cannot Adapt to situation. One dimensional play.

In pressure Moments , He becomes a midget .. Even Faheem Rana will do better than Babar in pressure situation.. and trust me Faheem is one of the worst 😂

Unfortunately it's true Babar doesn't know how to release pressure. I think he needs some new shots now that likes of brook plays.

I wouldn't say Medicore, that's a bit too harsh. He is still a good odi batsmen. He is a medicore test batter and a medicore t20 batsmen.

In odi he's good. The issue is media hyped him into something he obviously wasn't cut out for which led to people hating him.

Babar as a batsmen is still better then his no 3 replacements over the years such as Saud Shakeel, Kamran Ghulam etc etc.

Even now only Fakhar Zaman is better then babar in odi. You could argue Saim, Hasan Nawaz and a few others might get their one day but its too early atm.

thats 100% True.. His Fans gave him titles which he did nt earn

Even In ODIs he is struggling for a long time now. His Meaningful ODI hundred was way back in 2022 Against Aussies in Lahore.. He will End up averaging 45-50 by End of His career

This is just a time pass series. These strategies and playing XI doesn't mean much.

The cycle of Pakistan's ODI run ended with CT25. The next one will begin after WT20 2026 and who knows who will be captain, coach or chairman by then.
