Pakistan ‘A’ squad announced for T-20 series against New Zealand ‘A’

Lahore- October 5, 2018: The National selection committee headed by Inzamam ul Haq has selected 13-member T-20 squad for Pakistan ‘A’ series against New Zealand ‘A’. Pakistan ‘A’ will be playing a series of 3 T20s against New Zealand ‘A’ at the ICC Cricket Academy Ground, Dubai on October 12, 15 and 17, 2018. The squad is as follow:

What's the benefit of including Iftikhar, Shaheen Shah and Asif Ali? The first one is an oldie and the other two are permanent fixtures in the Pakistani limited overs set up.

Instead of wasting these positions they should have given some other deserving players a chance to show themselves against a decent opponent.

He's one of the most ordinary player right now along with Iftekhar. Simply he's not an international material. He played 16 matches and managed to score only 271 runs.

Some pretty bizzare selections. What are Umar Amin, Iftikhar Ahmed, Waqas Maqsood, and Agha Salman doing in the squad?

- Umar Amin has been given given multiple chances and he doesn't have it in him to be a limited overs player for Pakistan, even the PSL sides don't pick him.
- Iftikhar Ahmed's best format is probably tests.
- And Waqas MAqsood is a medium pacer who again is probably suited for tests, however, I doubt that too because he picked wickets last year in Quaid-e-Azam trophy because of green pitches.
- Agha Salman has pretty average limited overs stats, not sure what Inzi saw in him.


In place of these 4, I wish we would have picked Shan Masood (great chance to see what he is made of in limited overs), Khushdil Shah, Kamran Ghulam and a young pacer.

Honestly, can't understand the hate that Iftikhar Ahmad gets here. The guy played only 1 test where he failed in the only opportunity he got to bat and people have completely discarded him based on that one innings. May be, people hating on him here haven't probably seen him bat in domestic, agreed he may not be one of the stylist batsmen around however he gets the job done. He has been scoring runs in heaps in domestic cricket and his selection is based completely on merit. The guys has earned his place and he is better than lot of players out there. Let's first give him a game or three to prove his worth then we can have our opinion on him.

Agree on Iftikhar Ahmed. Every time he has played, he has thrown away his wicket even before he gets to 10. So, not a large sample size or opportunity to see if he is cut out for international cricket. However, I feel he is more suited to tests than limited overs.

I do not know Pakistan A ODI and team for FC for 4 day -two matches but our NZ team has best combination we can beat ordinary Pakistan c team in all format

Not only that, you must have a fixed coaching stuff . Changes in coaching stuffs disturbs team combination and no matter how skillful individual players are, you need good team chemistry to showcase your skills.

Iftikhar is already 32 and is not a T20 material either. Saud Shakeel or Sohail Akhtar would have been better choices. No leg spinner who are vital in white ball cricket. Osama or Irfan would have been handy.

No, i dont hate Asif Ali if anything i want him to be persisted till at least till the world cup. Having said this, i also think we need to try Iftikhar as well for the number 6-7 positions in Odis and T20s.
