Why is Pakistan playing so many T20s when there is a 50 over World Cup months later the series?

Interesting to see who will be the captain.

will go wit Fakhar if he is not on national duty in t20s and ods and Usman Salauddin in 4 days FC.

Wow, finally some common sense and goo planning from PCB.

They are playing 3 ODIs against Kiwis and 5 against Poms, how many more do you want? T20 is needed foe powerhitting and that will help them in ODIs as well.

This should be a really exciting series if the selectors pick a young, merit-based squad.

Hope it is televised/streamed.

I'm really happy with this move by the PCB as we need to test our depth with the World Cup one year away.

However, there are a couple of negatives, now, I'm not trying to be a cloud on a summer's day, but I do think that a couple of these games could have been played in Pakistan, as this is not such a high-key series so there won't be as much focus on it. But then again, baby steps, we haven't had A cricket in so long so just the fact we have A cricket in any form is a postive, even if it was in Uganda. On top of that, I hope domestic cricket doesn't suffer, fair enough the International players rarely play it anyway but if even the fringe players of the PCT aren't in domestics, I hope that doesn't have a negative affect, I don't think it will matter too much in the long term though, in my humble opinion.

Overall, I'm happy with this.

Could be a good opportunity to groom Hafeez for captaincy and for Wahab Riaz to get his rythym back. Top players and both will be in the World Cup squad next year so might as well let them get some practice.

Pakistan has 4 or 5 ODIs in the Asia Cup, 3 vs New Zealand, 5 vs South Africa, 5 vs Australia, and then 5 vs England.

What this itinerary doesn't mention, but the itinerary for the Australia tour does, is Pakistan A will also play a first class match vs a full strength Australia between 29 September-2 October in Dubai as part of Australia's preparations for the test series.

If Irfan and Zafar are in that line up it should make for a very interesting contest.

Thanks, have done that and also inserted table in OP for improved readability.

Thanks- table is much easier to read.

Btw, do you know what the pitches are like at the ICC academy?

A team/Junior tours are mostly arranged on exchange basis, because these tours have very little commercial interest, like now IND, AUS & SAF playing in IND - last year it was in AUS. In that regard, best benefit is that PAK A team should get a return tour in AUS, ENG & NZ.

All of a sudden Now there are more Pakistan A games in this year than the last few years

Good that we have some A team matches after a long time. What I would like to see there is, to get a good management team with it rather than just sending someone like Moin Khan or Basit Ali as their coach.

Get Shan Masood as Vice captain as well and Get Rahat sharing new ball in these games with Wahab and pakistan will be favourites for next years world cup ;)

There is apparently a camp going on for the A squad, which has kept them out of the ongoing round of First Class games. Has the squad been announced?

Pakistan A Team vs Australia 4 Day Practice Match in UAE 29,Sep,2018

News about Pakistan A Team Squad..........

This is the PCB..... they've probably already picked a squad and maybe even told some of the players but the rest of the players will find out just before boarding their flight and we'll find just before the game!

Please refrain from posting squads unless they are from a proper verified source.

P.S. People on Twitter aren't a verified source, has to be something via PCB etc. such as an official squad announcement.

I’ve seen the PCB do some stupid things down the years, but this takes the biscuit as the dumbest plan of all.

Hosting in the UAE is expensive because hotel prices are twice as expensive as New Zealand and three times as expensive as South Africa.

For goodness sake, Pakistan’s young batters and bowlers need A team cricket OUTSIDE Asia, not in the UAE!

What about spending the expenses of just one such tour to hire an Aussie or English pro curator to teach some farmers the trick of preparing wickets back home that resembles more to SAF & NZ than UAE?
